Well I have had a busy few days both enjoying the Sun, and gathering in some of the harvest and freezing some of it. First was the Peas, to date we have frozen around 16 pounds in weight. Our peas are frozen straight to the freezer into bags once you have made sure they are clean and no grubs.. But all good protein
Next was the Broccoli which have grown huge this year and I had come across a recipe for making Broccoli soup out of the stalks. So I thought I would give it a go..
The Full recipe you can find Here on my Recipe pages. With full instructions and photos stages in the making. Its delicious!
I don’t know about you but we put our veggie raw scraps and fruit into the compost bin, along with egg shells and salad waste, This is making a lovely compost which we will use next year dug into our Runner Bean row.
Here are just a few of the many beans yet to come from our Kidney Runner Beans, Last year we blanched them before freezing.. But this year after seeing many more good results from freezing straight to freezer after washing and slicing, we have started to freeze on an open tray in freezer, once frozen then bag up, as they then don’t stick together.
A drink that my hubby and I have with our meals is homemade Kombucha Tea Its so refreshing chilled especially during our exceptional hot Summer, and its good for you too. My daughter bought me a starter kit in March of this year as part of a Mother’s Day gift. This tea is not only deliciously sparkly when brewed but has so many good health benefits, it is brewed using a scoby culture which you can find out more about Here, These cultures regenerate and multiply so now I have got quite a production line going as from my one jar I now have 4 jars on the go. So there is always a bottle ready for drinking in the fridge.
And between all of the Cooking, I have read another wonderful book by Paulo Coelho called Aleph Click the Book to find out about it… This book literally fell at my feet in a Pound store where I was browsing on holiday at the books section a few weeks back, as two books fell from the shelves… A sign! you bet!.. I bought them both.
I always try to see the Signs the Universe throws my way.
Ok right Back to making the most of this afternoons Sun.. And I am gradually working my way around you all…. So if I’ve not caught up with you yet I will See you soon!
Love and Blessings
~Sue~

I love browsing the cheapo book stores and suchlike Sue, there always seems to be something that stands out, (or in your case falls at your feet!! 🙂 ) and I followed the link for Kombucha Tea so I shall be reading up on that too. You give me and many others so much to think about, which is nice, and uplifting too. (I seem to be saying ‘too’ far too much nowadays I wonder why? A bit like my >>…<< three dots syndrome, I think I'll try and cold turkey the habit!! Anywho, waste not want not is a fantastic saying and mantra to live by, along with 'do as you would be done by' it stays in my mind always. I seem to be tying my comment in knots here, but I hope you can unravel the strings as you read, and make some sense of my thought pattern. take care and enjoy the sunshine, love and light. xPenx

I hope your next season will be better Vk.. It was the same last year for us.. such a disappointment when you put all that effort in and then the weather seems against you.. Our tomatoes last year were green we had to take off and ripen on the window sill in kitchen… This year they are looking good… The Book VK I read almost in a day.. it was hard not to put down.. it made it even more interesting as its none fiction and was based upon his own experiences ..
Wishing you a wonderful weekend xox DW xx

I have only tasted home brew Becca.. first what my daughter made.. She was introduced to it in Hawaii.. I use green tea and then herbal infusions such as Raspberry, or Blackcurrent and Apple. Rose tea is especially good with green tea, .. Its almost like wine.. LOL 😉 but no alcohol content.. 🙂 If ever you should wish to know what quantities if ever you should wish to try.. just ask.. 🙂 Love to you xxx

it has been such a strange day
and I wanted to end my day within your space where real veggies grow,
the energy is calm and full of wisdom….
though I am most envious of your harvest!, such beauty in what comes naturally from Earth…..my this summers crop did not do well..
I worked on a mandala I dreamed about and worked in my gardens, turning over the soil, weeding and getting ready to plant for Fall…it is a luxury to have two growing seasons here…
I haven’t read the book but I will find it and read..though Diana Gabaldon series has pulled me in again…so it may be a Winter read….
Thank you Sue….always loving to walk with you in your gardens and in thoughts….
Have a wonderful morning as I wander a bit in the moonlit gardens She is Beautiful tonight …!before heading into sleep

Your crops have really shone this time round Sue and now with the rain falling over the next few days or so it will freshen the earth ready for another harvest 🙂 I must say that you certainly know your way around a good looking vegetable patch Sue and these rewards from Mother Earth just shows how you have nurtured everything, I like all that you have added in your posts, mind you I am a veggie sort of person, and sprouts, broccoli and spinach are yummy, even though so many peeps hate them 🙂 lol
Have fun over the weekend Sue and if you
happen to be working then don’t be overdoing

Brilliant post Sue, just wonderful to see how things how things have been growing and what you are doing with everything. Isn’t it beautiful to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour and also to freeze some for another time!! Just excellent. Well done to you and to your lovely hubby for his hard work. Take care Sue, I hope that you have a lovely week ahead. Before I go, I must tell you: the six raspberry bare roots we planted have indeed got fruit on – we have had about six raspberries and there are more to come!! Amazing that those roots, newly planted last November, did anything in their first year. What a taste they have 🙂 Love to you my friend xx

ooooh thats really good news on the Raspberry front Ruth.. as you know we dug up our canes and replanted, some have taken some have not, we will not be getting a crop this year off them, but hope so next year.. In the mean time though the Blackberry bushes around the back of the shed are teaming with berries that will soon ripen.. We had to cut it back alot too this year as it was burying the shed!.. I will pass on your good wishes to Hubby Ruth, He will be pleased to know his hard work is being appreciated 🙂
Take care my friend Love Sue xox

Pauline and I are now minding two and a half acres. With twenty four fowls of mixed breed, fruit trees and a nice vegie garden. So your garden is of interest to us and I have read the Al chemist I will read the others as soon as time permits. I just finished reading Secret Formulas of the Wizard of Ads. $3 second hand and a book I would recommend is Buddhist Ethics By Hammmalawa Saddatissa It is one of the best books I have read on the subject and I have read many. I bought it in a second hand book shop in Hobart. The house we were minding only had books written in German but this place on the Queensland Tablelands is owned by retired school teachers and has a great selection of books. I am reading one now Guns, Germs, and steel. by Jared Diamond. Its subtitle is The Fates of Human Societies. It is an astonishing.

Hens are on our agenda for next year on the allotment plot… So many now have them and we just love our Free range eggs. So hoping to stock a few hens next year. ‘Fates of the Human Societies’ sounds fascinating Jack.. now that one I have written into my to do of reads list .. Thank you for the thumbs up on the garden… There may be a few recipes for Pauline 🙂 you can find. 🙂

I love the blessings one finds when playing the hunting game in a bookstore. Sometimes a book seems to glow or be a color that catches one’s attention and may not actually be that color at all when looked at later. I’m still waiting for Paulo Coelho’s Aleph to fall at my feet… Lol!
