Switch Off! And Tune into Self!

I’m not hooked into T.V. soaps with Drama’s surreal

And I try to detach from the Media’s Squeal

I’m not attached at the hip to my Mobile Device

Like some who walk, looking up once or twice

Tranquil Corner of my garden

Tranquil Corner of my garden

I know too well all the pain some go through

And I’ve added my tears like the rest of you

I’m not helping the world if I wallow in gloom

So instead I create to help my world bloom

Seeds

Seeds and allotment plan

I plant and I sow and reap what I give

Sharing and caring is how we should live

If we see all the horrors of violence and greed

Maybe it’s because our attention is focused on these

Planted with Love

Planted with Love

If we planted more Kindness instead of mistrust

And put people first before the possessions we lust

Appreciate the NOW, and Let go of FEAR

Stop judging each other, and hold ALL life dear

Preparing the greenhouse ready for planting

Preparing the greenhouse ready for planting

Instead we’re conditioned by the Ads and the Apps

To purchase- Things- as in debt more collapse

A virtual world, we are hooked and controlled

Another statistic, we’re boxed in as we scroll

Spring Bulbs opening to the Sun

Spring Bulbs opening to the Sun

So if I go missing from time to time

It’s because I’m enjoying this life of mine

So go on now, look up, and switch off your Device

And Embrace your loved ones and start living-Life!

When the Universe speaks, I Listen! Part One

Sometimes the best laid plans are not made by you, but are the direct guidance of the Universe. Have you ever had that feeling where you just know you have to surrender to the flow and see where it takes you?

Well that’s what last week felt like. I had promised my WP friends I would be back to visit them last weekend .However the Universe had other plans.

DSC01864My own plans were simple ones.. I needed a few days Computer Free to catch up with some unfinished projects.. The first one being a little jacket I made for my Daughter’s Step Daughter’s new baby girl. So technically that makes me a Step Great Gran!  My other knitting project I also finished.

This was a cardigan for myself.

The other projects centred around the allotments and we had already planted seeds in seed trays which were sprouting. But the allotments needed digging which Hubby did, and I set too and helped plant the onion and shallots.

Remember this photo from last year where the old rubbish heap and nettle patch was going to be dug up? Below!

At the Back of the shed the old rubbish heap is going to be levelled. This is where we intend to grow our Butternut squash next year. As the allotment next to us just put his squash on old soil and left them.. They were 3 sizes bigger than ours.. So here they will have room to spread out to their hearts content :-)

Well this is what it looks like now on the photo below.

Another job which needed to be done was to paint the sheds with wood preserve. You can see Hubby busy doing this  one and I did the other. This shed brings a whole new meaning to Lean-too shed lol, It only houses sticks, wire and cloches and nets etc.

The next thing was to clear out the old Strawberry Bed of old plants.. We planted new shoots in the autumn .And made a start to clear out the old Strawberry bed. This will then be the new home for some of my flowers for cut flowers.

In the mean time I wrote a poem in collaboration  with Aquileana about Helen of Troy. and emailed her it just before my laptop was set for a scheduled Health Check.. That’s when the Universe thought to have other ideas about my plans..

I mentioned one of my keys was sticking to the computer guy, so the kind man said as it was insured he would send it away.. And So that’s why I have been absent longer than I intended.. But you see the Universe had a plan all along.. And as to that I will reveal in my second part to this post..

Stay tuned!

And its good to be back..

Allotment Progress in May ~Grow Your Own

Parsnip, shallots and onions

The weather has been just right for planting out.. I took these pictures over the weekend.. But since then Hubby has planted the sweet-corn plants and the runner beans have gone in.  As they have now hardened off from the green house..

So today I am taking you on a different walk.. As I take you down to our allotment garden

Above you will see there  are two rows of parsnips then shallots and onions..

Curly Kale, Cabbage, Brococoli

On the left here are the Swedes and under the netting is Curly Kale, cabbages and broccoli..

The nets are in place to stop the White Cabbage butterfly from laying her caterpillar eggs.. which last year had a scrumptious feast on our mature cabbages…

We are hopeful this year our Strawberries will yield more fruit I moved the strawberry bed last year and replanted the new shoots out.. We only had a few helpings of strawberries .. But this year by the look of the flowers. I hope to have enough to make some jam too .. Fingers crossed …  I need to get some straw to put under the forming fruit to help keep clean and to stop rotting if we get lots of rain..

Strawberries now in flower and filling out

Outdoor Tomatoes, and Leeks hardening off

In the cold frame lean-too on the side of the shed.. are some outdoor Tomato plants..  you can also see a tray of leeks..

Below you can see how we showed our Granddaughter how a seed started to grow.. Thanks to Jack for this idea too..We used a Runner Bean on a damp paper, also a Potato in a jar of water to show how it would sprout and know how to send roots down and leaves up!.. Amazing even now if we think about how each cell knows how to multiply into being a leaf or a flower.. Even more so when you think of the Human body and how each cell splits and knows what its going to form into! .. Makes you think about the Miracle Life really is..

Beans SproutingPotato growing

Gooseberry Bush

Below is the Gooseberry Bush.. Looks like we will have enough for that Gooseberry Fool too this year.

We also have 6 rows of potatoes in this year.. 2 row of early ones and 4 main crop.. We have grown less potatoes this year, as last year we planted 10 rows.. and although none got wasted, last year and they saw us right through winter, ( We gave loads away ) This year we are planting other things such as chard, squash and Spinach. So  we have not used up as much room..  In this next photo you can see the potatoes, 2 rows of peas and the sheds at the bottom of the allotment.

Seeds of Alignment

This last few days have been busy in the Dreamwalker household.. Especially for my Hubby who has been busy weeding, digging and planting, while I have been spending some free time painting and baking, and having some Me time in between working the day job.  But I have been planting a few seeds too!

If we could only all do that, plant a few seeds within our own minds too and water them…. We allow so many weeds of others thoughts and negative  vibrations to swamp our minds we often do not allow our own seeds positive thoughts to grow… We water and feed so many other peoples thoughts as our own.. Not understanding how we are allowing our own thoughts to be bombarded by others perspective . And those good grain of thoughts we had, we allow them to get swallowed and strangled by the weeds and vines of others confining views and opinions  which we allow to live within our minds which then drag us down to a point of despair or depression.

So as April begins and we have to align our thoughts.. This is  an interesting month of renewal and energy growth, not only for our plants, but within our hearts also, as we have the heavens align us to a New Moon which is connecting us to new starts and showing us how to initiate  to new projects..

I have not been immune from feeling sensitive from feeling the tension mount these last few weeks, as I have found myself swamped in emotion and I realised in part I was allowing the world at large and those I connect with in daily life to water my own emotional Seeds..

I  recently read this could be due to the forthcoming  eclipses of April 15th and 28/29th .. So make sure you align in intension to your highest good. Bringing in the positive energy into your being.. Aligning to our highest intentions as we each of us use the very God given gifts of thought to manifest that which we want to align with in life. Plant your seeds now with intention! ..

So I will show you what We have been up to and why I have been so quiet on WordPress this last week..

Click onto the Photos to take you a larger view..

Enjoy April, And Happy Planting both kinds of seeds in your Life.

People Power and Plants..

I asked you in a  post last year How do we put the world to rights? Suggesting we look in the mirror starting with ourselves.. As Spring is urging us to start and plant seeds as those who grow their own vegetables like my Hubby and I, we have  already prepared the ground and the veggie seeds are already germinating.

Below you will see a short TEDx talk from Pam  who is a co- founder of the Incredible Edible Todmorden initiative, which encourages ordinary people to take control of their communities and their surroundings through civic engagement and food.

I urge you to listen to Pam who  6 years on from starting the project informs with her humorous  banter how that transformational journey in her town of Todmorden has progressed..

She shows how through planting and growing food and sharing it with the town, by turning waste land into gardens that produce food which all the town are invited to pick and eat for free.  She has shown  how the Belief in small Actions have snow balled  in a knock on effect in the community..

And it shows how we each of  us can make a difference in creating a better world.. Where we are not relying on the local authorities.. She speaks how it has set in motion a chain of interests which have benefited local farmers, shops and education as children get involved. And how people are sharing their skills with each other..

Change Begins with Us.

We are the Change

She speaks of how crime also was reduced and people started to take pride in their environment… And how local police liaised better than ever with their local community.

Enjoy the video and expect to laugh as some of Pam’s expressive language.

As I go and plant some More Seeds !

Thank you for reading and viewing..

Healthy Eating~Growing your own

You don’t need me to tell you we are in a critical time of our Earths History and thankfully many are unknowingly starting to reconnect back to Nature as they get back to their roots..

We are responsible for creating our Future not only for ourselves but for our future generations. And people are slowly awakening and becoming aware of our global responsibilities, by being aware of our environmental issues  and the pollutions we have unwittingly contributed to over the years.

We are also starting to see how important it is to eat healthily and are taking an interest again in Growing our own vegetables. Here near where I live allotments are full with waiting lists for vacant plots.  And its good also to see a local infants school with their own plot teaching children the principles of growing their own crops..You should see them, they just love being outdoors digging and planting..

Rising food prices and concerns over what we are eating are making more and more of us aware the importance of what we are eating.. What we put into our bodies does have an affect upon our well being. An article  my Hubby read out to me recently Here  stated that over 8 million Britons take Statins the anti Cholesterol drug with over 55million Statin prescriptions dispensed last year.  And yet many may not need this drug if they followed a more healthy eating plan.. Many are suffering from side effects such as muscular pains  from taking Statins, and yet in other parts of the world where they eat a Mediterranean based diet of olive oil, nuts, oily fish, plenty of fruit and vegetables and a moderate amount of red wine! Cholesterol levels are nowhere near as high .

Many in the modern world live on ‘Fast convenience foods’ which can contain high amounts of fat which the body is failing to break down. And hands up over the years I too have bought a convenience meal now and again, but we on the whole have been a family who sit down to an evening dinner of a home cooked meal with fresh veggies .

As the season progresses  you may find that the Gardening Spirit takes  me over and when the warm weather finally re-appears the place I will be will be found is outdoors in the earth..

So how is the Allotment coming along?View from half way

Everything is coming along nicely.. Here are a few pictures Hold your curser over the picture to see what is growing there.

Peas

Raspberry Canes, Rhubarb, and Runner Beans Poles in

Above is the Runner Beans poles to the left, this year we planted a couple of rows of carrots where you see the lines running underneath. The Rhubarb in the box, Raspberry canes which we transplanted and thinned out this year.. The Bush in the foreground is a Gooseberry Bush. the seedlings around the bottom are Marigolds. The Cloches  hold Curly Kale and we have since put in our Cabbages under another couple of cloches. The reason we spent on cloches this year is that last year nearly all our young brassica’s were eaten by the wood pigeons who laid in wait and stripped them row by row.  I have plans to make a Scare-crow too so watch out for that one!

Curly Kale

Above is the Curly Kale, all we need now is the warmth to bring things along…

Happy Gardening All of you!..

So what are YOU planting this year? Are you getting the Growing Bug?

Storm Clouds on our Horizon

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Yesterday we had one Huge Thunderstorm.. The sky turned black and heavens opened with torrential rain..Often a storm will creep up upon us as the dark clouds gather in the distance, it isn’t until we look up that we realise the rain is about to fall. We had been enthralled in our work in the allotments when we looked up to see in the distance the mist of rain falling across the valley as the dark clouds had gathered unnoticed as we made our hasty retreat into the garden shed..

So too in life often we do not see the changes that are around us.

The same laws that govern the growth of plants oversee our own internal and external changes. We observe, and wonder, tilling the soil of our lives, planting seeds, and tending them.

Sometimes the hard part is knowing when to stop and let go, handing it over to the universe. Usually this happens by way of distraction or disruption, our attention being called away to other more pressing concerns. And it is often at these times, when we are not looking, in the silence of nature’s embrace, that the miracle of change happens.Just as we hadn’t noticed our Sunflowers had started to bloom yesterday until we looked up to see two beautiful heads in bloom.

Sometimes we have relatively short attention spans, and we can easily lose track of time. We may worry about a seedling in a pot with our constant attention and watering for several weeks only to find ourselves enjoying the blooms it offers and wondering when that happened, and how we didn’t notice it.

Nature, on the other hand, has infinite patience and stays with a thing all the way through its life. This doesn’t mean that our efforts play no part in the miracle of change—they do. It’s just that they are one small part of the picture that finally results in the flowering of a plant, or our shifted awareness.. Its often we do not realise that those Dark Clouds which gathered did so for a purpose as they allowed us to let go of a situation or soften our hearts along the way…We have to remember all that happens is only One part of the Picture.. as we gather together the pieces of our Puzzle in this jig-saw of Life..

I dug out this poem I posted way back in 2007, It maybe that Dark Clouds are surrounded quite a few people and places right now.. But I know they are there for a purpose and after every storm we see a clearing in the air.. Those storms too in life are sometimes needed so that we can see a brighter new day … I hope you enjoy my poem ‘Dark Clouds’..as I hope for a Brighter New Day in the Lives of All in this World..

Dark Clouds

Dark clouds may be overhead.

And with them some rain may be shed.

The wind blows, and the air becomes chill

And all becomes silence, all is still

A flash of light, Heavens brilliant might

The dance of power, day turns to night.

An angry roar roles across the sky

As the storm takes hold, while passing by.

The raindrops fall, slow at first.

Then the Heavens open with torrential burst.

A few streaks of bright white light

But it’s not too long before it’s lost its might.

And as the thunder echoes in the distance

The bird’s start singing, awaking from the silence.

The clouds drift by revealing skies of blue.

And all is well in the misty hue.

And so in life, we have our troubles

When lightning strikes and anger bubbles.

But we ride the storm, even though there’s pain

For we know that soon the sun replaces the rain.

And in the brightness of a clear blue day,

We look back at the storms that passed our way.

The storms of life are here for a purpose,

To strengthen our love and bring with it tolerance.

You’ll never be sure when a storm might give rise.

So make the most of the sunny bright skies.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love...
