Giving and Receiving.
At last I have put my feet up tonight and had a glass of wine and chilled. It’s been quite a week. My working day has been very hectic all week, sad and rewarding. But because I work with people who have learning disabilities I cant go into specifics..
Monday started off with me being tearful and today has been tearful also, but in-between it’s been hard but so very worthwhile. You know we are so very often all so wrapped up in our own little material worlds, seldom do we look at life from another’s perspective.
Several years ago I wrote the poem I am about to post. As I wondered what it would be like to live and look through the eyes of some one who couldn’t communicate as you or I.
Some times I wallow in my own pain and disappointments in life. We often unintentionally mar the beautiful experience of giving by focusing on what we eventually will receive in return.
When we let go of the idea that we deserve to receive gifts based on giving gifts, bounty can once again flow freely into our lives.
We all to often give with expectations of something to be given back in return.
Each time you make a gift whether it be spiritual or material ask yourself do you expect to receive something in return? Some times we expect an easy life, financial rewards or opportunities..
I work with those who have nothing to give but there love, and yes sometimes there’s frustration as they can be quite challenging in their behaviour at times..
But when you give them your time and your love. They respond and give you their all.
Giving then becomes a profound Joy, and I am reminded of the Universal law of like attracting like.
This week I have learnt so much. Not only from those whom I work with, but from the kindness and generosity of spirit from those who have communicated here on my little space.
Giving eventually become such a joy that you begin to appreciate. This week I have learnt to appreciate fully the flow of abundance as a gift in my life.
Thank you all for being part of that gift..I do not wish to upset or sadden you, but the next time you wish you had this or that, please remember all the gifts that you do have, that we take for granted.. Love Dreamwalker.
DISABLED IN BODY NOT MIND.
Trapped in a body that will not obey.
To simple commands you use every day.
Why was I born to be left in this state?
With heart sometimes heavy, with unfathomable weight.
What did I do, that I needed this lesson?
I pray dear Lord; you will give me your blessing.
Give me faith and courage and the strength to face.
For in our acceptance we’re given great grace.
So blest are the people who learn to accept.
I know what it is to be called a reject.
Don’t pass me by, embarrassed or sad.
But smile into my eyes, say hello, make me glad.
My eyes maybe glazed and look far away.
But if I could speak, then I would say.
God gave me a garden I look into for hours.
I’m uplifted by the fragrance and the colours of the flowers.
The freedom of the butterfly that flits from bud to tree.
Remind me that one-day I too shall be free.
For God one day will break my chains.
Until then the sanctity of life remains.
So long as I can see natures beauty.
Helped by family and friends devotion to duty.
I’m safe and secure, and in good cheer.
Please do not greave or shed a tear.
For content am I with all Gods love.
Until I’m called to his garden above.

At the age of 19 I started my life as carer…with children with severe learning disabilities.
It made me breathless at the times that they grabbed onto life with both hands and got on with it all.
In the times of frustration I wanted at times to put myself in their shoes and do it for them.
I do not work with the children any more but it gave me the tools I needed to care for others in my job now.
It makes you a better person because you can look at yourselves and see that you have everthing,no matter what you really do not have…. and not feel sorry for yourself.even though we all do at times.
The people you work with are brave in spirit and soul…..trapped inside themselves.
Love is he key because they look in your eyes and know you truelly care.
Special wishes to you for the specal person you are.
huge hug and yes love ali xxxxxxxx
