Wake up to Nature.
Wake up and savour the beauties that abound,
Wake up and honour all life that is around.
We take you for granted, even the air we breathe
Take time to look at the blossoms on the trees
~~
Look deep into a flower and see the wonders there
Take time to stop and listen to birds in the air..
Watch the glistening water, ripple over stones
Be thankful for the morning, these gifts and our homes
~~
We take Nature for granted, as she bestows these gifts for free
It’s up to us to look after her, for she’s there for you and me.
What if one day you awoke, and the air you breathed were black?
What happens if nature decides she is fighting back
~~
And no longer shall the bees pollinate the crops
And no longer will the rain give you those pure drops
Open your eyes, for we work hand in glove
Wake Up, and be thankful, For Nature needs our love

This poem I wrote was first posted in 2010. I know many around our world now are experiencing Mother Nature in her extremes, as she shows us she is not always gentle and giving, but she can be cruel and take, just as how we have been to her, taking of her gifts and not giving back..
The Native Americans knew how to honour our Earth Mother and would only take that which they needed and always they gave a gift back to her. They spoke many times of these times of great changes in our Earth time line. We are in those times right now.
A poetic interlude as I ponder how to share further my inner most thoughts.
Love to you all and thank you for your patience.

Serious and very important thoughts, friend Sue … Thank you … I raised my family and my animals and my plants on my land for almost 37 years. But it is only the top soil that I own … because the oil companies have the right to drill and frack and … wreck nature … and they pay us land owners big money in order to keep us quiet. I am guilty as heck, friend Sue. I have fought in boards and courts for my right to breathe clean air and feed my children healthy food that does not smell/ taste of sulphur. I won some cases, and I lost more cases that I care to remember. I came to this country with $5 in ma pocket. Now I am worth $ 1 million. And I am not proud of it … Anyway … Spring is coming to Alberta … I saw the geese flyin and cryin in da sky going North yesterday morning … smiles … so put away those Winter boots, and don those rubber boots and soon it’s Flip Flop time for the next 100 frost free days … smiles … Love you much, cat.

Yes no one Really Owns land, its all on loan via Mother Nature, Fracking has started here in England, and we have yet to reap the rewards in terms of earth tremours, ( which already some have had ) and water tables being affected by the chemicals!!.. So pleased Spring is in the air in Alberta, its been a harsh winter for you.. Though Winter has come back here for a spell, we had snowfall yesterday, it didn’t last, but just shows how up and down the weather is these days..
Looking forward to those flip-flop days Cat.. Take care too my friend.. Much love returned ❤

Well you’ve written a heartfelt song. We do not realize that we are destroying nature little by little and when it is returned to us, it will be too late to react. Your verses say a great truth. A poem to frame for how good it is. A hug.

This is a very profound and delightful poem, Sue. We do take nature for granted and we injure and exploit it. It is getting worse as greed and selfishness are more apparent in our world than ever before and individuals can do more harm on a stand alone basis due to technology.

Beautiful poem and yes Gaia will come to a point of not giving as we will only have to look at ourselves for the destruction of herself. You reap what you sow. Yes, we are seeing her getting angry as she is an organism that is protecting herself. The blue Kachina and the Red Kachina is a wonderful; prophecy. If I am still around then I will look forward to walking with my brothers and sisters from the star. I wonder if we could only live with the gifts of air, water and earth as our primary treasures. Your poem is beautiful and your reminders very relevant.

We live in a modern world Pragalbha, with modern amenities, we can still enjoy our labour saving devices, but be mindful of our environment as well.. I for one would not wish to wash my clothes by hand, though I have done it in the early days before we could afford a washing machine.. lol 🙂
But there is far too much packaging that all we do is rip it off and put it in the bin, far too much plastic which is not biodegradable. Manufacturers have to think further into the future and not just put profit first, but the environment.. And we as consumers have to look at changing our habits too, for it is the consumers who demand such goods..
Many thanks dear friend it is a subject I am passionate about, though I doubt my words or actions will do much to alter things.. But all we can do is change ourselves, and our habits, and hope more do the same.. ❤

Yes I am absolutely with you about taking responsibility as a consumer …some of that stuff is incredibly ridiculous why they shouldn’t be altered. It is indeed a peace of mind to have as much mindfulness through what we choose as comfort and convenience, and keep changing ourselves towards better.

A wonderful poem, Sue. I am moved in with my daughter in her country setting….at least it is to me (certainly not city to which I have always lived). It will be an adjustment. As much as I gave away and got rid of, the large bedroom and closet space doesn’t seem large enough to hold it all. Only things, mind you, but after a lifetime of obtaining I could not let go of it all. For it will never be my own home but my daughter’s in which I live so the adjustment will continue for a time. It has only been four days and I find myself retreating to my bedroom to try to rest and recoup and ponder. The great grandbabies (ages 2 and 3) are downstairs running about playing and I do love them but I am one…even when I raised my own children…who cannot seem to have peace of mind within a noisy environment. It has always been so and therein lies my dilemma. I will figure it all out as, unless there is a miraculous windfall of money, this is where I will stay. I do hope you are well and that your garden is growing and will soon be full of new leaves and beautiful blooms. Do take care my friend. xoxox

Renee such an adjustment takes time I am sure my friend.. It is a big change for you coming from your own home to sharing your daughters home with her family.. But I am sure given time you will soon get used to each other’s routines and ways. I am sure you will soon merge into your own routines.. It can be very tiring coping with the excess of energy of young children charging around.. I know from experience how even their craving for attention can drain us lol..
I am well, I have been a little tired, but I over did the gardening a while back.. and paid the price with my muscles, but nothing to complain about Renee..
Hope to see more beautiful poems from you on my next visit.. And thank you dear Renee for your compliments my friend.. Much love your way 💜💙

Thank you, Sue, for your encouraging words. Even when I raised my five children, I found at the end of the day I desperately needed alone time. My now adult children remember me retreating into my bedroom and closing the door after their father came home. Too much sensory input has often caused me undue stress and anxiety and with the weather still being wet and not yet warm enough, it is difficult, as I cannot afford to get sick so have not taken my dog for walks as yet. Yes, it has only been a week, but I am not sure where this all will lead. I really was not cut out for big families and once again here I am. Do take care and I hope you feel better. Muscles not used over the Winter can tend to be difficult. Much love your way as well. xoxo

And yes to unused muscles.. lol.. but Spring will soon get them flexible again

I live in hope too.. I think many of our younger generation are aware even more so than we were in our day, but they get side tracked so easily with their gadgets and mobile devices as technology keeps them more indoors than outdoors..
One good thing on our allotment Plot, young children from a local school have been growing their own food and learning about nature.. We have on occasion given them seeds and surplus crops to grow and take home when they march past our plot, full of excitement and chattering..
So lets hope there are many who Do care in the future..
I know many have taken up to striking a day off from school to bring awareness of the plight of nature.. We can only sow the seeds of awareness. Its hard when our governments do little..
Many thanks Marlene.. and Much love your way

With a knot of dread in my stomach, I’ve noted the seedeaters and grassquits and ground doves’ continued absence for the past ten months. An extra-heavy application of pesticide on pasture grass – I fear – was too toxic for them to survive, as the aroma lingered for months. It is no longer the time for apathy; many of us feel a strong urge to speak for the ones who have no voice.
Thank you for all that you do, dear Sue.

Those pesticides are so very toxic, not only for the wildlife, and insects but for those using them and the foodstuff being grown in them.. One of the reason we do not use any kind of chemicals on our allotment plot.. I think many now are feeling this Urge to Speak UP. Especially for those with no voice..

Wise words DW….You are so spot on about nature and how it swings both ways just as we do! If We pay attention to the results of our mistreating of each other you would think we’d learn to treat people better and avoid the negative end result if we don’t but no….we continue acting like fools and disrespecting one another and sadly nature as well and now we are seeing what she can do if we treat her badly…So much to learn if people would just wake up…But as you well know, timing is critical in everything and so we wait for others to catch up, hopefully before it is too late. I have faith it will all work out in the end, we just have a long road to hoe until that happens. We sure are getting a major lesson in patience!!! Have a happy my friend and be well…Enjoy your time to yourself and enjoy spring as it finally begins to unfold…Hugs and love to you…VK ❤

It’s a Beautiful poem Sue and so is the video and Song.
Yesterday a ginger &white cat came into our garden and made it’s-self comfortable close to a shrub then along came a fox, it strolled past the cat and turned to face it. The cat didn’t move an inch as they looked at each other, then it turned and disappeared into the shrubs and hedge and over the fence. Lately the guinea-fowl on a property near-by have been making an awful racket, now I know why.
Last year a pair of malard ducks decided to make their nest on our little rockery under a tree at the end of our patio. Oh no! I thought, that’s not a safe place, at the same time thinking How wonderful! She laid three eggs and I tried to keep them safe. After a while she would go missing but would come back and carry on sitting on her eggs – then she didn’t come back and there were some feathers on the garden and I knew she hadn’t deserted them.
About 6 weeks ago, early morning, I looked out of my bedroom window and low & behold there on our extension roof were a a pair of malards eyeing up out weedy rockery. I’m glad they changed their minds.
I thought you’d be too busy in your garden blog at the moment to bother with this one.

Aww sorry to hear about the Malard Duck, Nature being nature, there are winners and losers..
My daughter gets foxes in her garden, and she had cats, and they seemed to tolerate each other too..
As to this blog, this is my main one, and I post my garden progress as and when there is something to report..
But both blogs have been quieter as I have stepped back a little and concentrated on me for a change lol..Thank you for your lovely comment and enjoy your weekend 🙂

On this occasion it was only the ducks bad judgement to blame and I can’t bring myself to chase any of them out of the garden because we don’t have any pets in danger. We used to have to chase away the herons when they were after the fish in the fish pond before my husband turned it into Fort Knox. He’s found a new home for his fish because he/we are no-longer physically well enough to do anything more than potter.
We too have had to come to terms with what is really important mentally & physically at this moment in time, so you are very sensible taking a step back once and a while. My husband has found it harder than me to adjust, and I do get pleasure out of a lot things that haven’t been taken away from me.
Lots of Love XXX

I understand, we had a large tropical fish tank and we wound it down for the same reasons, though we do still have a small outdoor fish pond, which hubby has yet to tackle.. Each year gets just that little bit more challenging.
But its good to keep pottering!.. you can achieve a lot when you potter! 🙂

Soul Sisters. Thank goodness there’s a lot of Stable, Spirited placid people living amongst the dominating manic Egos XXX.
Between you and me, being self-reliant, it’s having to rely and pay other people to do the jobs he has always done himself that’s causing my hubby such anxiety. We’re getting there.

Loved your poem Sue. So many people never stop to watch anything in nature. Man is destroying the earth – they need to wake up. Hope all is going well with you. Love n hugs friend.

I just had a thought…as I listen to the beautiful music at the beginning of this post. What if our awakening is “being shaken”? What I mean is that in the last 500 years, the white man specifically, has pillaged the planet and not replaced what was taken. They not only pillaged the earth, but other populations of humans and decimated animal populations. This is established history. Throughout all this, few had taken heed to the gentle winds of nature’s signs to give her respect. This is still going on today. 500 years later.
Throughout the centuries, there were opportunities to change, to learn. And yet, world leaders are still making decisions that do not benefit the people or the planet, but their wallets and businesses.
And so, Mother Earth says, “it is time. Your kind has not learned.” Like a toddler, she has to shake us into behaving well.
Alas, I cringe at this because this planetary shaking will affect us all: the people who never had any responsibility for what’s happening, the animals, the plants….
But here is where “hope” enters the picture. As you have mentioned before, there are people waking up. Not only that, the people who understand the earth, I think, will reach a new level of respect and show everyone else what that looks like. Now, I don’t want to put anyone on a pedestal, but I think that there be a massive shift in perspective, for sure.
Ah…that’s just where my heart and head went after reading your beautiful poem and listening to the song. And your words serve as fair warning that if we do not sit up and listen, there are consequences for our actions.
It seems like we humans (well, the non-indigenous ones, anyways) are going through childhood and we have to learn how to listen to wisdom. 🙂 Ah well…sending you big hugs and wishes for a wonderful weekend. Sending you hugs! xo

I think dear Cynthia that we have plundered our Earth Mother many times over. With many lessons and chastisements from our Earth Mother to her children, who have still in this cycle have not heeded her cries.
And I also ponder whether this time Mankind will survive in its present ‘form’.
Gaia is transforming, evolving as we are, many are waking up, yet many more are still asleep as to the nature of themselves and our Earth plane existence.
And yes this planet will shake us, while at the same time there are those who are not so benevolent beings upon this planet gearing up to control the human race even further..
So maybe it is time for humans to be shaken into taking responsibility for our actions.
Let’s face it we are only reaping now what we have sown.
And unless the majority of us alter our thinking and our ways, nothing is going to change, it is only going to get worse.
A sad fact unfortunately, that we are going to have to learn to live with..
In the meantime all we can do is our best, and treat each other and Mother Nature with kindness and respect..
Thank you Dear Cynthia for your heartfelt thoughts, I am with you 100 percent my friend..
Much love ❤

Sue, a beautiful poem and call for us all to help protect nature. I think many do not take if for granted but agree with Sally, that those in the position to effect the most positive change choose not to do so! A topic that touches us all … and a reminder for us all to Wake Up to the gifts of nature around us!
After two amazing weeks in Sweden, in the midst of the forest, walking the shores I feel almost bereft back home. Your line of the black air struck a chord as on arrival at the London airport felt myself breath … air clogged with dirt, mourning the purity I’d experienced for 14 day’s and nights.
Warm hugs to you … and to this amazing planet! Xx

So wonderful Annika that you enjoyed your visit to Sweden. I know that the air is different, the energies too.. From my visits to Austria, High in the mountain air, you can take a lung full of air and feel the difference..
We are all waking now, its time for positive changes, and we have to touch on negative topics sometimes to effect change.. So true..
Much love and thank you for reading Annika.. ❤

An excellent and very explicit video Sue, and your words amplify the need to appreciate Mother Nature more.
Man-kinds biggest threat to Mother Nature is Greed, and sadly Greed is becoming more prevalent around the world these days.
Thank you Sue.
