Harmony

harmony-mandala

While I was absent from WordPress as I gathered together my thoughts and energies I spent some time painting in watercolours..

I had been given a wonderful gift by my friend Cynthia Sageleaf over at her Intuitive and Spiritual  Website of downloading a colouring book  of Mandala’s that she had created.. So I decided to print one off and paint it with watercolours..

I have spent many minutes gazing into its middle depths as I meditate,  I seem to get sucked into the flower within its centre.. Reminding me of the Lotus ..

The lotus grows in muddy water,  it is this environment that gives forth the flower’s first and most literal meaning: rising and blooming above the muddy murky waters to achieve enlightenment.

Most of us have often found ourselves confronting our own shadows from time to time.. Its only going through our own dark places that we then begin to rise up as wake up to the Light which surrounds us all..  Only the brightest of light enables us to see our own shadows. And it is often only going through those darker days do we then begin to rise up to see our truth worth..

I found a meaning of the colours here of the Lotus flower the site is linked below..

“The color bears importance in the meaning of the lotus flower in Buddhism. A white lotus flower refers to purity of the mind and the spirit. If a lotus flower is red, it refers to compassion and love. The blue lotus flower refers to the common sense; it uses wisdom and logic to create enlightenment. The pink lotus flower represents the history of Buddha and the historical legends of the Buddha. A purple lotus flower speaks of spirituality and mysticism. Finally, the gold lotus flower represents all achievement of all enlightenment, especially in the Buddha.”

I had no idea of the meanings of the colours while creating it.. I just went with my own intuitive flow.. To me the colours of harmony are represented in earthy colours too. The center golds and oranges of the wheat-like shapes, to me represent corn and the importance of planting and harvesting. Not only through our gardens but the seeds we sow with our our thoughts and words which are followed through by our actions.. Reaping what we sow is what we harvest back in the deeds we have sown.

The green which threaded its way throughout the mandala spoke to me of the grass lands.. The many species of grasses which are a staggering  11,369 separate species which bind our earth together.. I can not image  a world without its meadows and grasslands..

The coloured circles represent to me completeness, because it has no beginning, no end and no direction. Its also the shape of many seeds of creation reaching out with the blades of grass growing in-between.

The outer petals containing the rainbow of colours that bent and sways like the ripples of the waves in the ocean with the inverted flame.. Forever burning in all of our hearts..Should we care to rekindle it..

I did not know what Cynthia thought as she drew this wonderful Mandala.. But I hope my own interpretation and coloration did her wonderful artwork justice..

This is the first Post of the New Year and its Heading is fitting.. For I so Wish for Harmony to prevail in all of your lives this year and well into the Beyond of all of our futures for we are One with Each other along with our Earth Mother.

May 2017 Bring you your Dreams, Your Desires, and as you take each step

If we are Facing the right direction, all we have to do is keep walking” ~Buddha~

Love and Blessings for a wonderful New Year

~Sue~

Words cannot express…such beauty…such a compliment…such a heart bursting with love and appreciation…such awesomeness…such…such…you have made my YEAR!
Sweet Sue, to think you did this in watercolor – the precision and know-how required to do just that! – and derived such meaning and that it has brought you joy and contemplation. This. This right there is all a person could ask for. To know that in my little way, I’m making a difference. You have such beauty and creativity and I, too, wish you harmony. That word. Harmony. It imbibes such love and coexistence and peacefulness. I can see why this word and mandala spoke to you. I’m sending you much love and white light sweet friend…and hopes for an abundance of harmony all around you in 2017 and beyond. Thank you for sharing this. Thank you for your kindness and light. You always make my heart sing!

I like to use colored pencils to escape in my pages of various patterns. I never considered the colors I’ve used but I do received different feelings when I review various pages. Maybe I’m subconsciously thinking of the color and I’m actually experiencing my mind and its moods. I’m going to pay a little more attention. Thanks. 🙂

Happy New Year, Dreamwalker!! 🙂 Your talent for color never fails to amaze me! I’ve tried to use all the color wheel in mandalas (um, colored pencils, cuz I ain’t a real artist… 🙂 and it ends up looking awful and disharmonious – obviously, I should only be allowed 1 colored pencil with which to create gradients of color, so everything blends and matches and works – – LOL

It is interesting to me, though, how mother nature is trying to teach me better – I gravitate towards the cool side of the color wheel and for planned plantings at my new spot on earth, some 3 years ago, I declared, “Purple and white shall rule – which means there will be shades of green/blue, too….) – LOL

And yet, why would I wipe out the yellow dandelion? tasty in salads in the spring, maybe someday, I’ll successfully make wine from the petals and it perks along here with no help from me, at all – 🙂

And don’t ya know – the wild poppy, with it’s bright red orange has multiplied from 1 to over 40 and I just enlarged the perennial area for it to grow and play in. and the burgundy and gold amaranth love the same sandy soil/drought conditions the poppy, dandelions and rhubarb do – 🙂

And so, though I may work to plant my cool colors, Mother Nature says, “Here, dear, let us add a splash of warm – here, here and oh, yes! over here! And now, is that not much better?”

Lol – I’ll let Her choose where the pallet lands – my job is to prepare the canvas, no? LOL

What a wonderful Colourful Comment TamrahJo.. Lovely to hear from you again.. 🙂 And yes Dandelions are nutritious and I love the odd cup of dandelion tea now and again.. Rhubarb makes a delicious Wine.. though like your colour theme of purple and white it took 3 yrs to clear in the demi jar.. 🙂 but was like nectar to taste.. 🙂
Thank you for your wonderful Pallet of colour and delightful images you left me upon my Canvas here dear Tamrah.. Have a wonderful Happy New Year my friend. Take care of yourself.. Remember.. One step at a time.. 🙂 And keep facing forward.. :-D.. Love and Hugs.. Sue xxx

Sue, this is lovely. I love these coloring books. Got into Zentangle for awhile, but the pads languish in the cupboard for now (as do the coloring books). You’ve done a wonderful job. Funny you were repeatedly drawn to the lotus flower; I can’t get past the rattlesnake rattles of lavender and periwinkle. I don’t know if it’s the colors or the shapes, or just that they appear to stabilise the circle. Then there’s the orange/yellow sweater knit surrounding the lotus flower, itself. So interesting! My education is in Jungian Psych, so maybe it’s the art therapy part I’m drawn to. I do think you did your friend’s mandala more than justice! Aloha, dear one.

It is beautiful, Sue! I loved the colour combination and the mandalas. The colours are soothing and are placed in perfect harmony presenting the overall effect of serenity.

You’ve so wisely said about the lotus, that it rises from the muddy water to bloom into a beauty. The great poet Rabindranath Tagore said in the same way in one of his poems. The implied meaning is, nobody should be judged for her/his birth, it’s their work and fruition of that, should be counted.

I’m really amazed once again by your wisdom and profoundness of thought.
    Wish you a wonderful 2017 ahead…<3 Stay blessed… 🙂

Beautiful artwork Sue. In Buddhism they have this ritual of making a Mandala. The process is a celebration of creation and creativity, and also symbolizes the impermanence of life. Making it is an engrossing and joyful process, visual patterns and colours draw people into it, and after it is made and used for the rituals, the mandala is destroyed, as nothing on earth lasts forever. When replicated in a colouring book, we can experience a part of the creative process at our convenience.
Loved your interpretation and the meaning of colours. 🙂

A mandala in a prominent place in a home is a beautiful daily reminder of our Spirituality, for me I have a Tibetan bowl on a side table that gets rung every time it is passed, its echoes are soothing.

I saw 555 this morning!!! 🙂 We are being watched over dear Sue. I found a white feather a couple of months before Christmas on my way home from somewhere (doh, obviously! :)) And because I’ve been so in wonderment about these numbers: I took a picture on my phone of 333, 444, 1234, 131, just to make me smile whenever I feel the need.
        Always and forever! x

Brilliant Marie… I have lost count of these occurrences over the years.. 🙂 But each time they happen, I receive great comfort from knowing these signs are for us.. 🙂

Yes it’s wonderful isn’t it? At first I just wanted to make light of it, but this afternoon running upstairs and seeing 333 just made me really stop and think. It was too much of a coincidence. I love these signs now. But the trouble is I’m looking at my digital clock and trying to make angel numbers out of everything!!! Don’t think you’re meant to do that. LOL x

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
