This morning We went a walk around 3 miles in total.. Below is a poem I wrote in 2010 and I added some photo’s of our Walk today… I hope you enjoyed your walk with me, It blew the cobwebs away and put a zing into my cheeks…This afternoon I am now going to paint… I will be visiting you all very soon… Keep warm and stay safe…
The Snow Flake
There it came out from the sky
Fluttering softly, gentle as a sigh
First one, then two,
Then a million or too
Each one unique in pattern and form
Together they joined so perfectly
A Blanket so thick, building silently.
Children awoke with glee in their eyes
Gathering up their winter surprise
Adults too went walking afar
To place their feet upon Virgin Stars
Sunlight glistened on crystallised ice
Breath on wind, the feeling was nice
Red rosy cheeks, as icy winds felt
While dogs jumped in air catching balls that did melt.
Imprints of boots with sledges in tow
Trudging up hills, to slide and let go
Magical, glistening, sparkling pure white
A world it transformed, and all overnight.
And it all began with a flake or two
A carpet of white, just waiting for you
Winter wonderland, embrace and partake
In the beautiful gift of a humble Snow Flake..

I hope as you enjoyed the poem and if Snow is still about where you live I hope that you will also wonder at the beauty of each snow flake. Each one like us is unique in its form As one little snowflake it may seem insignificant But when its joined together with thousands more Just look at the Transformation it makes.. Together WE DO Make a Difference.. Love and Blessings Sue Dreamwalker ~~~~~

I loved the poem Sue… I especially loved the end.. A humble snowflake! I sometimes feel as I am a humble snowflake knowing my time will soon pass and a simple drop of water I will become as my humble beauty fades. Thanks for sharing your beautiful thoughts and heart!

Sue, absolutely loved that walk out with you! You are so right about the snowflake, I never cease to marvel that each one is different and individual. As you say, each does make a difference, it matters and it makes up the whole – just as we do. Lovely image. We have snow here too and it is a winter wonderland. Enjoy your painting and I’m so pleased that you have had a recharge – these things are essential. Have a lovely week! Ruth 🙂

Snow is just little bit’s of cloud falling to the ground one by one. But “oh” how wonderful they look when they all come together. Just a thought … but i wonder what it would be like if they all fell at the same time. Like one great sheet of snow a foot thick, floating gently to Earth. 🙂

Thank you Kenny, Its a good think Kenny that snow doesn’t fall in one big sheet, Looking at how it slides off the roof, I think that would be one big bang! 😉 So Glad Nature works her magic so well 🙂

At the beginning of our last storm the snow came down frozen, as it landed on us we could see every detail in each and how unique they were. I loved joining you on your walk, and hope you take me on another when it warms and everything is alive and blooming. Until you pointed it out I never thought about the changes the snow makes from a single flake to a blanket. That vision will help me remember what future we can have if everyone works together to do their part. Thank you.

Snow always holds it magical spell, and I am never tired of looking at how it falls, clings, melts, I saw some icicles today at least 4 foot long under a bridge, Lethal should they fall on traffic underneath… Nature is both beautiful and terrifying! .. Yin and Yang Positive and Negative… We need both, but always in balance.. 🙂

I have always loved icicles as a child we used to break them off, when possible, and eat them like a giant Popsicle. I do hope no one is injured when those ones on the bridge fall.

Me too, they were high up,So I do hope they melt and not drop!
It seems we share many common memories, I doubt whether we would want to us icicles today as popsicle’s with all the pollution in the rain and especially if near a roadside, but on my way to infant school this is also what I loved to do, snap them off etc.. 🙂

I agree, I wouldn’t ever want to see kids eating them today, what a sad commentary on the state of things, a free fun activity that children can not safely take part in.

That difference in the snowflakes is likened to the difference in people. Walking down a crowded street we cannot help but notice the difference. All special with different personalities, beliefs, hopes and dreams. Makes life so much more beautiful. The creative blend is amazing. Loved your post:) I enjoyed your walk!

We haven’t had anywhere near as much snow as that, but we are getting the icy winds which seem to go right through you; but it’s warm inside!
I appreciate the individuality of every single snowflake – it’s good to be reminded of this every now and again.

Beautiful post Sue 🙂 Lovely photos and your poem was lovely, capturing the soft, silence of the snow and gentle nature of its existence in our lives 🙂 It hasn’t been too heavy around here but we usually get off lightly with the more extreme weather. It was enough to turn me into a snow wolf on the way to work yesterday though and to have an unintentional hibernation till 5pm this afternoon! Unreal! But it was just in time for the heating to come on and alleviate the freezing sub zero temperatures indoors at least! Where on Earth is spring!! Snow looks beautiful and peaceful and clean and pristine…but we’re almost into April!! It’s not supposed to be around now!! 😉 Wolfie hugs 🙂

Hi Sue,
I had not seen this poem earlier so loved it this time.
You know what? Most posts I come across yearn for spring, somehow wanting to get over winter as fast as possible.Your post is possibly the first one I see which celebrates Winter in all its glory.
What could we do to always seek beauty and possibilities in our “here & now”? How could we train ourselves to hold this mindset?
Blessings

I have always loved Snow Shakti, walking in it and being out in it are not a problem to me. Driving in treacherous conditions however are a problem as the local authorities never seem prepared and this time the snow was coupled with high bitterly cold winds which in some places created drifts as high as 20 feet.. Fortunately we were not so badly affected but it was bad enough that I couldn’t travel one day on the roads as they were blocked.
I always love you dropping by Shakti, as you look beyond my words and dig deeper into our consciousness..with your question here
If we became once again as Young children, looking through their eyes of wonder at their experience as if everything we saw was new would be a way to start and hold this mindset.. To live in the moment of NOW and be ‘Present’ in the Gift of Now
We take so much for granted today and forget the Gift is held in the PRESENT of NOW!
Many thanks for your continued support 🙂
