Hobbies~ Brushes and Needles

Painting in Acrylic 50cms by 40cms

While I was not feeling so good, to take my mind off the sniffles and aches, I decided to get out my easel and paint brushes and dive into my art-box of Acrylic paints..I lost myself for half a day in this painting.

I always connect to trees and felt compelled to paint this  Spiritual Tree from my mind.

I wanted to show ‘As Above So Below’ and you cannot see here in this quick photo from my mobile but I incorporated some glitter into the paints on the Aura of the Tree..

For that is what I wanted to convey, the Aura of a Tree and how Healing Trees are.. They give out so much energy to those who can feel it… And I have often sat with my back against a tree trunk to feel the pulse of a tree…

Why not try it? Hug a Tree next time you are feeling a little out of sorts or not, and ask for some of its healing energy and sense the pulse of the tree as it connects to your own heart beat..

~~~
This next picture is for Cat Forsley who has taken a keen interest on my Knitting page… This is a Waistcoat I knitted last year its thick and warm and washes really well… ( I wash all my hand knits by hand by the way and allow them a short spin) .. Knitted Waistcoat
This sits below my waist on my hips and I’m thinking of knitting myself another this winter in a different colour as despite the complex look its really very simple to knit.
It knitted with thick  yarn and size 9mm and 7 1/2 mm needles  USA sizes differ.
I think it took me about One week on an off to knit this one as with it being thick yarn it grows pretty quickly
Here is a close up of the stitches
Close Up of stiching
 Another Cardigan I knitted a few months back was this little long sleeve bolero for my Granddaughter who is 2 in December.. I did this with wool I had left over from a scarf I knitted..
Cardigan Red
I hope you have enjoyed the Creative side to Dreamwalker this Sunday afternoon.. Enjoy the rest of your Day and have a Great week all of you
    Cat’s energy today makes me smile…
    you’re such a creative energy Sue…I was sitting here quilting and I saw your post pop up and knew I would feel the warmth of your smile…
    what a treat to see your art as you finish..
    I am envious, I have forgotten how to knit, I crochet and my knitting shows up in it, I am working on a hat in earth tones…but needed to quilt awhile..
    your painting in beautiful…restful….in the balance…
    I can see my acrylic’s from here…every thing is so clean and fresh in the crisp Autumn morning I should be outside working on a painting I am attempting
    ( I am very very novice at painting, my grandmother said I paint with needle and thread)
    Thank you for sharing you….
    and Thank you Cat for sharing your wonderful energy and video, I enjoyed both
      Bless you Ladyblue.. and we are all creative and no one is a novice we all grow at our own pace.. I take after my Dad who was a very good drawer and craftsman but who didnt get a chance to show his creative side often as he was too busy working in a quarry to feed a family of 7..
      But I do love knitting when Im in the mood.. Like you I swing from one to the other as the mood takes me, either painting drawing with my pastels or knitting… And yet I can take an age to sew a lost button on.. LOL.. as my hubby will tell you..:-)
      Cat is a wonderful soul, whose energy is all over her blog and on every page she visits and I love her talent and vibrant energy.. And that choice of video is amazing isnt it…
      You will have to post a page of your own hobbies LB.. and let us share in your finished Hat its sounds lovely…
      many thanks again for adding your most welcome thoughts Love Sue xx
            I doubt that my knitting skills will prove
    Lovely to see your creativity Sue and your brilliant art. Your knitting is beautiful too – it is wonderful the way knitting has ‘come back’ in recent years. Of course, for many, it never went anywhere! With renewed interest, though, many new yarns appear and the wonderful choices and colours are uplifting. Really enjoyed this post! Ruth xx
      You are so right Ruth for many Knitting has never gone away.. However it went away from my life for many years.. My Gran and Mother knitted and passed on the bug to me. I learnt most though through trial and error and taking my mistakes to my Mother in those early days when I was knitting baby clothes for my own children..
      But as my Mother lived far away I would painstakingly unravel and unpick and start again..
      I guess I stopped knitting when my daughter was in Infants school and its wasn’t the ‘Cool’ thing to have home knits.. much better a Labelled top lol..
      So it wasnt until the impending birth of my Granddaughter 2 yrs ago that my knitting needles came out again.. and Ive been bitten by the bug on an off between my poems and painting and blogging.. 🙂
      And yes todays choices of Yarns are Amazing..
      I hope you are well Ruth, so good to see you here..
      Hugs Sue xx
      you Know Prenin, It isn’t until people such as yourself see and say how talented a thing is that I realise just what gifts I have been given..
      You see I am a big believer in giving EVERY THING a Go.. I even laid some Lino in the bathroom once upon atime around the toilet and hand basin etc… It took be best part of a day and the calling on my Dad from the Spirit World to give me a hand as at the end of it I was in tears of frustration.. But I made a great job of it in the end… We ALL of us can achieve so much if we but TRY!
      I think the stitch is honey-cone in knitting terms, Ive forgotten what it said on the pattern Sheila, I so enjoyed doing the painting, It seemed to paint itself.. Maybe you can start and do a simple scarf in some of those wonderful yarns they sell now Sheila and get back into the habit on knitting, nothing nicer to curl up in a comfy chair 🙂 … So happy to see you and wishing you well… and thank you I am much better now..     Wonderful, every one, from the beautiful drawing of the tree…awesome…to the knitting projects. I use to knit and crochet but as I began working full time some 14 plus years ago now I had to choose which things I absolutely could do so left that and sewing behind. I have my writing now, art and reading and I hope one day to pick up and begin to play my piano again. I love to do it all but not enough hours in the day. LOL 🙂
Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
