Gaia ~ Earth Day April 22nd

Hello dear friends,

I have been rather busy over the last week as we have been planting out young plants and sowing seeds while we have had such good weather.  So, I have not had time to put together a post So I am refreshing  one  I made in 2013.  Today Saturday I was wandering through the halls of my reader to catch new posts that are in there from your good selves. Where I came across JoAnna’s post which reminded me it was Earth Day tomorrow as she hugged a tree and was joining ‘Grandmothers For Peace’, in the park later today..

Earth Day began in 1970 to bring awareness about Environmental Issues. Forty-Eight Years later and those Issues are not getting better, they seem to be getting worse.

In my poem and post below, there are many things we can do to change and help our environment, it is no good us waiting for change. We have to change our consumer habits and cut down on plastic waste, and really think how our actions are affecting nature.

Have a wonderful Earth Day tomorrow all of you. Apologies to those who read this back in 2013. But I think we need to hear the words again..

Enjoy the poem and the  top photos were taken by myself in Austria some years ago.. The Chemtrails were also taken by me over my home.

Love and Light.. Sue ❤

Oh Earth Mother oh Earth Mother we come to you this day

We come to you in gratitude to honour you and say

Thank you for your bounties and wonderful gifts

For your rivers and your mountains and desert sand that drifts

Austrian Mountains and lake 2008

Your forests full of life from insect to humming-bird

Thank you for all wonders like migrating wildlife herds

Of Wildebeest and Elephant whose numbers now decline

I hope you will forgive the errors of Mankind

4.1.1

I’m sorry for the pain, for the scars upon your skin

Forgive us for the wars we’ve waged,Mankind will never win

I wish I could take back all the poisons from your skies

And undo all the damage as we Humans tell our lies

Chemtrails6

I hear you creak and groan as you shudder and  you shake

I feel your falling tears in the rain and snow you make.

You show us with your storms the power you possess

Oh Earth Mother  sweet Gaia your beauty you have brought

Please forgive your children whose damage we have wrought

cyclonecatarina

Your beauty in each flower in the Seasons now all mixed

Have we stepped beyond the boundaries our damage never fixed

Oh Earth Mother our Earth Mother we come to you with Love

We come to ask forgiveness as we remember we are One.

On April 22nd is Earth Day  Earth Day was founded back in the 70’s, We are all now more aware how our planet’s climate is changing, each of us have witnessed weather patterns that have gone haywire. We see daily the pollutants in our skies, Rivers and Oceans.

There are many things we each can do to help the environment, as we recycle, and embrace greener alternatives.. In our own area School children have been on a clear up campaign collecting rubbish from the streets, parks and hedgerows . It’s also good to see the junior school with their own allotment  near our own growing their own produce learning how to grow their own food and care for plants and wild life.

One of the greatest things each of us can do which costs nothing and that is to respect Nature, take your rubbish home with you, Don’t pick wild flowers. If you fish don’t leave your line and hooks in the water.. Simple things like helping Mother nature along, planting Bee and Butterfly friendly shrubs and plants in your garden. Do not use insecticide, that affects the Bees..

Encourage Hedgehogs who keep your slugs down by leaving gaps in your garden fences.  Many little things go a long way to helping Heal the World..  Respecting our environment in which we live and learning to respect each other will go along way to creating a better future for our Children to live and grow in our world..

We have Hedgehogs

I agree with every word of your beautiful poem Sue and hopefully we’ll find that the truth of your words spreads and Gaia Day will signify a time of healing and a total change in peoples attitudes… Think Green, in fact just ‘think’ for a better way to aid the World. I like your comment Pen… Just ‘Think’ being the operative word.. For we can all be g uilty of that error as we just don’t THINK enough about the effects we have.. We are so lucky here in the UK we turn on a tap and expect clean water.. we take so much of Mother Nature for granted.. and yet we do not see the fine balancing act that goes on to maintain a healthy environment..
The Bees being just one who we are killing with pesticides and fertilizers.. Wishing you a great weekend Pen.. THE SUN is OUT! Yippeeeeeee!

Sue that was lovely. I too wish everyone would stop and ask forgiveness then go about trying to be better stewards. Our slugs have been greatly reduced by the wildlife we have protected in the field while we work around their homes, leaving them some space. The little ones are learning quickly why nature needs protection, so hopefully the next generation will treat the earth better than we have.

Yes I dislike picking wild flowers they are so needed in our hedgerows for the Bees and butterflies.. I read an article in the other day how councils cut the grass verges too severly and at the wrong time not allowing the windflowers time to reseed or bloom.. You go to places like Austria and all their meadow land fields are full to blooming with wild flowers.. the above photo is one I took in 08 and fields were like this for grazing cattle .. the natural meadow is now a thing of the past as the earth contains so many chemicals to kill off weeds none will now grow.. Such a shame! we loose out all ways

Mother nature truly is beautiful and mankind has really made a mess of it. As you say, there are so many little ways in which we can help. Cleaning up ones own mess really isn’t so difficult. One simply needs to put some thought into ones actions.

Gaia loves all her children – even us bad ones! 🙂

I have seen the stain of air pollution grow and change, living through the poisonous smogs that I remember in the 60’s and now we have photo-tropic smog!

In some countries the air in the cities can kill you! 😦

Dearest Sue, How beautiful! When we moved here I created a wildlife pond and a pergola at the side of the house and with a present of vines from friends in Belgium we now have a green shelter in the season hung with bunches of sweet black and green grapes that we leave for the birds and wasps to enjoy. Earth Day is special for me because I am a Taurus and was born on April 22nd. Many Blessings with Love, David

Hi Kevin, Yes many do, and yet we only need open our eyes to see the bounty she gives each and every day.. Our very Breath,Food, and Water, not forgetting our beautiful countryside and animal kingdom and aquatic life…. We often get so wrapped up in our own little worlds of material gains.. We forget without our Earth Mother we would not be here. 🙂

Don’t think politicians see climate change as a problem, more of a nuisance, that won’t go away. Problems we find a solution for, nuisances we grudgingly tolerate until it becomes a problem. I think we’ve a way to go yet, before climate change is addressed, sadly.

That was my mission with this blog, and my intentions have shaped what you read….. For we live in times that for many will be difficult in the very near future and I want to try in my own small way to open up peoples awareness as to the workings of this world in this reality.. At times I touch upon subjects others perhaps are uncomfortable with such as life after death… But you see there is no death.. not in the real sense,.. Just Life after Life….. 🙂 and should you wish to explore further look under my categories listings 🙂

Yes Gaia is an organism that will throw many off her back to preserve herself hence we are seeing extreme weather more volcanic eruptions and stronger earthquakes.

Yes I see it intensifying too, The volcano in Japan the most recent trigger to release pent up energy.. a first in over 250 years I believe.. And new Earth Quakes, along with Solar flares etc, When Mother Nature really wakes up, we humans will not know what hit us.. We are so insignificant in the scheme of things, yet mankind thinks she/he is so superior.. He has seen nothing yet of her might..

No mankind has not seen anything of her might and innocent lives will be affected if not sent to the other side. We are all one and in some insignificant ways we have had an effect on her even if it is to throw a piece of garbage on her back. etc. Yes we have seen extreme weather and that is just a wake up call.

I agree Joseph.. I had a profound dream many years ago pending our future planet.. It was chaotic and volcanic, It was one of those dreams which was not a dream!.. When I asked was this hell, I was told no, it was our future I was being shown..
We volunteered to be here at this time Joseph.. We keep sending Light, but much more is required to halt what damage we have done.
Wish I lived nearer, for I know we could find much to talk about upon this topic.
              Wishing you a peaceful day.

Lovely post Sue 😀 Earth seems to be in big trouble right now. Once again I am living in a state if rising anxiety about nuclear warfare obliterating us and our world. Wasn’t reassured this morning reading an article on What to do in the case of a bike strike on the UK. Let’s hope Earth day will help to remind the powers that be that we only have one Earth and if we damage it that way we won’t be around to see if it can repair itself over the decades. I’ve been learning about how to garden btw 🌱Growing my own veg like you do. Very interesting. I had hoped to give it a try this growing season but even container growing methods are a no no for now due to the work being done on the house and garden. So further education will have to suffice till it’s finished. Hedgehogs are lovely😊We had one in our garden -caught him rustling his way out of the garden hedge one evening😀Icewolfie hugs xx

And wonderful to know you have hedgehogs too…

I a.trying very hard to embrace an alternative reality Sue! The current one is waking me up with panicked nightmares every night now and I am shattered! One reason I’m trying to get back into blogging proper – as you said – being creative is best. It really does help. Not sure about the green paws lol but they are perfect for digging and getting very earthy and dirty 😃 I’ve been having fun exploring gardening things and discovering a whole new world of interest in the process. It’s exciting touring the gardening centres and gardening stores deciding what items will be right for me, and learning about the ones I didn’t know existed! Currently wondering how much of my landlords garden I can get away with digging up lol 😉 Maybe if I tell him it’s so I can a nuclear fallout shelter!! 🤔And I must say you’re gardening posts have played a big part in sparking this new interest 😀 Big green-pawed Wolfie hugs xx

Glad I have had a little hand in triggering your garden green thumbs Wolfie.. I shouldn’t be bothered with the fall out shelter. I would sooner disintegrate into fragments that survive such a catastrophe. Live for today. One thing I learn as I grow older each year, time is precious and a great book to read if you are sunny yourself in your garden is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. 🙂 I posted on my Garden blog what we were doing a week or so ago in the allotments.. And you can easily plant veggies in tubs or potatoes in potato bags etc.. To save on too much paw digging! .. You can plant kidney beans too in a tub and use canes in a wigwam shape to train and climb up etc. They provide shade and colour with their red flowers too.. Lots of things you can soon grow..
We are off tomorrow, weather willing to plant out our cabbage etc..
Looks like our Spring cabbage suffered due to cold weather which we planted last autumn.. Its a win some lose some game often.. But we learn as we go..
          Happy Gardening Wolfie.. xxx ❤

You are of course right about living for today Sue 🙄I have been a little over anxious in general of late and have had to take a step back and re-evaluate before things get out of hand 🤔 I was looking at growing spuds in bags lol -there were a lot in the shops – bags and composty type things though not the actual spuds! But they’ve gone again now! I wonder how spuds in tubs would work!! 🥔 I was out looking at containers yesterday. Was meant to be buying bird food for the gannet-giant sized appetite birds i serve lol but alas forgot again in the hunt for containers! Slugs are a major issue too – it’s slug city in the garden 1st hint of rain. And they climb! Onto window ledges…and bin lids (watch bin lid handle very carefully when opening!!) …there’s a wonderful array of slug-Snuffing materials out there I must say but perhaps I can find a less unpleasant way to protect my containers😉Green fingered Wolfie hugs😀

I know its tempting to use slug pellets, but we don;t because of the birds and hedgehogs.. We have frogs in our pond for our home garden they eat slugs etc.. And our hedgehog is a regular visitor.. I am only hoping the one I saw nearby today on the road deceased was not the one that visits us.. I was so upset this morning to see it..
Good luck with the potatoes… ❤ xxx

Never saw him actually kill one, but poor baby frogs didn’t appreciate being his play things! Trouble was the more they hopped the more fun they were! Ahhh… I do hope you get lots of little tiggy winkles! What an adorable thought! 😊xx

A beautiful tribute to Earth Sue, A lovely poem and uplifting image, we need uplifting messages in a time of such anxiety about how we are treating our planet and what we are leaving for future generations. Right now we re caught in the repressive hand of the nay sayer’s who greed for wealth and power is working against the good we might do to improve our environment and save Mother Earth. Thank you again Sue, so beautifully done. xx

Thank you Holly, and yes, I agree with you, so much greed at the expense of our Planet.. Incredible when you think we risk our own environment, and put Profit before People and the Planet.. Our habitat. A crazy world, that has to come undone before it can be put back together again..
I do worry about those future generations, like my granddaughter whose generation is reaping what we are sowing in the present..
Not only for our environment, but for what we are creating in AI. and experimentation..
All we can do is work upon ourselves and that which we contribute.. If we all did that, and thought before we acted, we could create great strides in healing our world.. ❤
Love and Hugs Holly and thank you. ❤

Sweet Sue! I loved your poem in 2013 (we’ve known each other for 5 years!?!?) and I still love it know and it’s more relevant than ever. I love the rhyming and rhythm you put into it and the love you have for Mother Earth.
We humans have so much to learn about consumption and not over-doing things as we do. Of course, my favorite teachers for how to responsibly live in harmony with the planet are our Native American Indian brothers and sisters. Their ways of life so often call to me and their songs and chants – like your poetry – tug at the heart and encourage unity and harmony.
We must turn away from our greed and our tendencies to consume. If we don’t, I think Mother Earth will deal a hard blow if we cannot and will not heed her warnings. Sigh.
In any case, I’ve been thinking about you sososo much. What I journey I had in the last couple of weeks. I’m still catching up from being gone and starting the meditation course. It’s incredible and wonderful and all the things, but finding a new rhythm and balance has been a bit challenging. Ah, the ebbs and flows of life, no?
I know your garden is probably already shows all the signs of love that you put into it. I can see all the beautiful colors and fruits of your labor in my mind’s eye. I’ll hop over to your other blog as I get a chance to see the pretty images and photos.
Happy Earth Day, Dear One. May you have a wonderful rest of your weekend and walk in the light. Sending you hugs from across the great Atlantic pond. xoxo

I’d never even heard of Earth Day before today, so thank you for your beautiful post and detail. The Earth gives us our very life, it seems little for us to care for it by return. The projects by school, community are making a difference, hopefully, changes on a global scale will expand and become part of the bigger agenda.

Your poem is beautiful, heartfelt – Earth’s bountiful gifts wonderfully captured, alongside our careless and at times destructive behaviour towards it.

Sue, I love your photos, the first one from Austria I at first thought was a postcard – picture perfect! Also, thank you for teaching me a new word today ‘Chemtrails’ – lovely photo and great word! love & hugs xxx❤️

Yes each breath we take comes from her abundance of trees, which mankind is intent on cutting down oblivious to the long term lungs of the planet. Yes the meadows were just out of this world and this was taken up the side of mountain.. I got on my knees amid the blooms to take it.. And I hope you google and YouTube to look up the new word 🙂 .. You will have your eyes opened Annika.. You can tell the difference between ordinary contrails and Chemtrails.. Contrails soon disappear while Chemtrails stay and spread out. The skies up above us are bombarded most days.. Sigh.. Have a wonderful week ❤

Beautiful words, Sue, and Happy belated Earth Day! My husband and I actually spent most of the day in the yard, pulling weeds. 🙂 We have a gardener coming next Saturday to do the little, more difficult work – all this as we not only prep for the new season, but we’re planning for his dad’s 95th birthday party on May 5, then our son’s college graduation party on June 23rd. Whew! We’re going plant shopping this week, too, just to add some new color. Can’t wait! If we all did our part, Mother Earth would sigh in relief, I’m sure. Lovely post, and have a lovely week, too. A beautiful post, Sue, and lovely tribute to our Earth Mother. I remember the first Earth Day vividly. I sat in microbiology class as our professor demanded we honor our planet and consider her needs in all we do. Then she glared at us and said (paraphrase): ‘If you ever do anything that is in the least destructive to this magnificent planet of ours, look up; Barrow’s eyes will be dead on you!’ Needless to say, she left a lasting impression on me 🙂 Hugs, my lovely friend ❤️

Your poem includes words of forgiveness for the wrongs mankind has done to the Earth and I understand what you are saying… We can still come back from the damage done… But we must align together to do so… Keep sharing this beautiful message, Sue. May your words be heard by all, and not only on Earth Day but also the other 364 days of the year. Another beautiful post, my friend ❤ 🙂

Sue, I missed this post and apparently others. It seems you aren’t showing up in my reader, or in email notifications anymore. Ack! This has happened with others, even though I’m following. Will try to remedy….
Anyway, glad I found this one. Another beautiful poem and prose! 🌸💞

Not to worry Betty.. the same is happening with me.. In fact I came across some I have followed for years I see now I was not following so had to refollow their blogs. And I had not stopped following them.. Sometimes I press unfollow and follow again to see if that helps.. but I have had this problem on going for years.. Happy you enjoyed..
And never worry about missing posts Betty I miss so many.. We can not possibly catch every one.. I caught how many I followed the other day it was 367 blogs.. No way will I ever catch every post.. But I often try.. ❤

What to praise first Sue dear?Your poignant verses, your thoughtfulness on Earth Day or your beautiful countryside photos from Austria? At long last,I managed to answer your long, long and newsy comment on my Spring-Easter post. Not that I hadn’t noticed it,but I wanted to answer it when I would have some spare time to come over and before posting again.Thank you for always keeping in touch with me despite my long breaks and for your motivating Gaia post.Love & lots of spring hugs to you,my lovely one 🙂 ❤ xxx

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
