Mother Gaia ~ The Blue Dot.

Three Sisters Scotland

Three Sisters Glen Coe Scotland

How many times have you gazed at the stars?

To ask the question of whom we are

This Blue Dot in the vastness of space

Have you questioned the existence of the Human Race?

~~

Did we really evolve from Neanderthal Man?

From Ape to Human imagine if you can

Woolly Mammoths along with Sabre Tooth Tigers

Ice Ages and Floods, Volcanoes and Fires

~~

Mountains crashing, rising from ocean floors

Fossils created into stony forms

Petrified wood in glaciers saved

While Crystals grow beneath deep dark cave

~~

How many times have you asked ‘Who am I?’

As you gaze longingly at the starlit sky

So many treasures now upon this Blue Dot

So sad that we’ve evolved, but we also forgot

~~

That we Humans just like the Dinosaur race

Could soon disappear without a trace

As our superior brains seemed to have lost the plot

Of our coexistence within this amazing Blue Dot

~~

As we pollute our Mother who brings such life

While we rage in greed creating more strife

We poison our land modifying crops

Caring less and less until the last Bee drops

~~

Long after we’re gone as the planets realign

A new dawn will break over the memory of mankind

His legacy I’m sure one day will be discovered

As some future traveller his fossils will uncover.

~~

But it’s never too late to alter our future

When we live in harmony and learn to nurture

Holding onto LOVE and Letting go of Hate

We can all help our Blue Planet Regenerate.

The above slide show are the photo’s I took that inspired the poem above. They were taken in Scotland where I visited a crystal and mineral centre near Fort William. It was a delightful find holding a wealth of Treasures of The Earth which can be found here.

There is so much more that lays hidden beneath our Earth Mother, as well as within ourselves.

If only we dig deep enough to find the Treasures Within.

Love and Blessings

~Sue~

I am still digging Deep How about You?

No late night walking in the dark back then 🙂 Loved your poem. Such wonderful words and a strong message…Our world, in OUR dimension, will survive and prosper I have no doubt. What the dark does to it’s blue dot is a whole other question….We shall do well DW, we are needed to carry on our message…Take care and hugs to you…VK ❤

Perhaps our species will die out following a speciation into a greater intelligence, dear Sue, one that may “live in harmony and learn to nurture”? After all, over five billion species (more than 99% of the total) have so far become extinct. Are we, as a species, so exceptional that we might never give way in speciation to a greater intelligence than ours, that we may stand outside the natural ordering of things? H ❤

Yes, dear Hariod, THAT might be the important question. Are we so exceptional?
Yes, we are, and that is also why we have so many duties and such a great responsibility. We have received so many talents but have we made them grow? That is an equally important part of the eternal question : To BE or not to BE!!! an exceptional human being. Love and Light. ❤

Neither do I, Hariod. What makes human beings exceptional (for the time being) is that we can diversify our planning. Animals don’t. Most Animals care for their own sort and seldom will an animal care about the safety of another specie. It so rare that when we see a dog befriend a cat or a mouse or a horse we are puzzled and put it on FB or You Tube.

Being among the more evolved Earth inhabitants, we have a greater responsibility regarding the survival of our Planet and all it carries. By saying that humans were exceptional I sure did not mean that we are the Kings of the Planet but merely its protector (mandate we seem not to be very good at!!).

Thank you for sharing your feelings with us/me.
          Cheers.

Thankyou once again Eugenio. I agree with your position, though only loosely so, myself regarding we humans as being animals too. Other species diversify their planning in degrees applicable to them, and one thinks even of Corvid intelligence as but one such example, and on a wider scale the mere fact of adaptability being a prerequisite for survival. Perhaps by ‘planning’ you mean projecting symbolically into the distant future and envisaging how to make scenarios better than they would be had we not been able to hypothesise upon them? But I think this is a matter of degree, more than a category difference.

“Most Animals care for their own sort and seldom will an animal care about the safety of another specie.” – I agree, again only loosely, though the existence of empathy within other primates is well established . [See: Frans De Waal – TED Talk] And more, given that the human animal is largely carnivorous, then we must question how much we care about other species, surely? We breed them, to kill them, to eat them – most nations have <5% of their populations vegetarian.

I sense that you are coming from an ecological/environmental perspective, and there would agree fully as regards the responsibilities our species has to protect the world – from ourselves! Given our innate cupidity and ignorance, however, then it may well be so that we fail to meet those responsibilities. It is not for lack of the capacity to achieve those ends, but the will and the vision to do so. And there we come back to your central thesis: our capacity to diversify our planning.

Good to meet you and exchange views, Eugenio!

Thank you for your comments, Hariod, it was a pleasure reading you and this I don’t say loosely so. I do understand your point of view and I wish I could have written as well as you do. I love English whether written or spoken but I am still very far from being able to convey my thoughts in an understandable vernacular.
I loved your message so much that I want to quote it :
“the responsibilities our species has to protect the world – from ourselves! YES INDEED Given our innate cupidity and ignorance, however, then it may well be so that we fail to meet those responsibilities THIS IS SO VERY TRUE.. It is not for lack of the capacity to achieve those ends, but the will and the vision to do so. THAT IS WHY, THOSE WHO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND MUST RING THE BELLS LOUDLY. And there we come back to your central thesis: our capacity to diversify our planning. YES, HARIOD, WE KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN.TO OUR LITTLE BLUE PLANET -. ANIMALS, as far as I know, STILL DON’T. LUCKILY FOR THEM.

Sorry to write in capital letters but as colours I not available that’s the only way I found to attract your attention without too much toil.

Beautiful musings on our precious mother earth and whether we will evolve to play a part in co-creation with the planet or go extinct like the dinosaurs. I’ve often wondered which way we will go. I read a great book years ago that suggested our role was to be the conscious awareness of the planet. May we wake up to live in love and harmony with each other and the planet.

I think Brad, many are awakening, although be it seemingly painful as changes are happening now across our globe which is making the awareness of Letting go of material ‘Things’ a reality for many.. We are seeing this in mass migrations of refugees who flee their homeland with nothing..
There are many more now starting to embrace a more simpler life as they wish to connect back to Earth be it moving to the country or starting to walk in nature or grow their own veggies.. We are slowly, yes slowly shifting our vibrations, as our empathic responses to the chaos we see emerging triggers our responses..
I feel this will be the way of the world.. Sometimes as many of us know who have suffered a nervous breakdown, ( speaking of my own personal experience ) Some times the system has to break down in order for us to start afresh and this is how I see the world Brad..
We have come through many an age of turbulence, with spells of Peace. All be them brief..
But this is the yin and yang. How all things have to find balance.. When the sea-saw rocks one way, it has to come down the other..
Gaia is no different.. As she warms, cools, warms again..
So too we blow hot and cold.. 🙂

We live in interesting times.. Very interesting times, for we are the ones who are witnessing these changes. 🙂 And we are the ones creating those Changes. ❤

Yes why is it we so disturb the Harmony of our planet and each other.. Loved your sentence Doda when you said ”
And why do we break the primeval immutable laws of the universe defying the consequences?”

Why indeed.. I ask myself those same questions often as I try to fathom our destructiveness upon this planet..

Yet at the same time so many are also doing such great things in trying to bring our attention to these facts and also in helping preserve and help repopulate endangered species..

At the Heart of Every Human there is Good.. We were not born bad.. Or ignorant of these ‘Universal Laws’ Yet we have come and forgotten them in our ego will to control .. Greed overtaking emotions, Profit coming before People, even when those who know it is damaging environments, look the other way to line their pockets.

      A sad state of affairs..
Yet I truly believe deep in my heart of hearts that evolution will like all other species weed out the weak.. We had best look forward and tend our own gardens ‘Within’ For I feel soon we shall see the harvest, and that which we have sown shall be reaped..

So loved your thoughts on this Doda..
      Love and Light my friend

Thank you for appreciating my humble thoughts Sue my friend. You write your posts with your soul and you motivate us,you are one of those who still struggle against all kinds of adversity in life and any detrimental behaviours that harm our enviroment and our moral principles and their values.
“At the heart of each human there is Good” you said, and I say that it’s our obligation to practise it in every form of life.
Since you read my Aristotle post, and I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that, allow me to quote a few lines from his Nicomachean Ethics which strongly support and reinforce your aspect :
“Every art and every investigation, and likewise every practical pursuit or undertaking, seems to aim at some good:If this be so, we ought to make an attempt to determine at all events in outline what exactly this Supreme Good is.
That at which all things aim …. ”

When I look at the stars, I am always fascinated by their beauty and twinkle and my thoughts veer away into the world of fantasy as if I am floating with them, trying to gain a foothold, trying to borrow some beams to enlighten my own self…to understand those who create strife in their own lives, around them and around the globe, without giving a thought to their own happiness, which gets affected by ignoring Mother Earth, the embodiment of love, of forbearance and fortitude.

Probably we would be more receptive if we think in terms of our own existence, which is getting thwarted!
Thank you Sue, for the reminders and the discussion that they evoked is equally engaging. 🙂

Beautiful poem Sue and with such a pertinent message. We often forget that we are the recipients of blessings of nature that have made life possible on earth. Such reminders from time to time are needed to remind us of our duty to give back to the environment at least a small part of what we have received.

Very important reminders in these lines, Sue. I guess there have always been attitudes of greed and “couldn’t care a less” among our human race, just now our reach and footprint is so much larger that the consequences are multiplied. And, yes, I’m still digging deep – treasure hunting 🙂 Any time I find a gem or see the gems in others, it makes me realize how contracted our consciousness as a race is. Thankfully, there are also human trail blazers who are raising the bar and showing the masses the way. Just last week, for example, the Avaaz advocacy movement was instrumental in getting the EU to refuse to grant Monsanto a new license for its probably carcinogenic pesticide glyphosate (commonly known as Roundup). This was such a fantastic coup! So uplifting that citizens all over the world can stand together in the face of a greedy and negligent corporation. Love & blessings, Sam 🙂

In the vastness of space, Gaia, or Dharani, as one would have it in Sanskrit, is a tiny blue particle apparently bounteous in its life sustaining capabilities. Now increasingly turning a deeply carbonated yellow with envy, avarice and apathy of its inhabitants. Your poem is not only lovely but so timely in its loveliness, Sue…

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
