Hello Every One.. Today I have had a bit of problem.. seems I left too many comments upon one of my friends Blogs in one session. As I often catch up in bulk.. So it seems that Akismet thought of me as a spammer..
I managed to get rescued from their spam box but now find I am still disappearing in comment boxes, So Until Akismet sort me out, I have informed them.. which was a journey in itself, just to find where to send it too..
So if you find yourself spammed what do you do?
First I went to my spam page and found the Akismet Statistic page which you have for your site..
Then I scrolled down to the bottom of that page and clicked Support..
Which then leads you to here https://en.support.wordpress.com/
I then Typed in what Help it is you need.. I typed in ‘I am spammed on WordPress’.. It then leads you to more options.. and I felt I was going around in circles and nothing pointed me to what to do next..
I then spotted ( Comments ) on the right hand side column, so pressed that.. Which led me Here
https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/comments/
Now what?
I scrolled down and found Unwanted Comments and Comments Spam.. So clicked on that
https://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/
Around I went again.. as nothing seemed able to help here.. So I clicked on the Akismet on the first Line which took me to Here.. http://akismet.com/ Which is probably where I should have been in the first place 🙂
I clicked on the Top bar HELP… yes…..PLEASE help!!!.. LOL.. and then got this page http://akismet.com/support/
None of the options there helped so on the right of their page it said
“What can we help you with?
Choose from one of the quick fix options below. If you still have questions, please contact us.
So I Pressed Contact Us.. “
Which led me here http://akismet.com/contact/
Where I followed the Self Help Automated Links to log in my complaint.. so I am now awaiting a reply..
In the mean time I will leave off making comments upon your blogs until it gets sorted,
So if you find yourself spammed.. Save yourself all of that trouble and go straight to the bottom link.. 🙂 Its Quicker.. and I hope to hear from them soon..

Wow! What a run around!! Thanks for the lesson if it ever happens to any of us. If you end up in span if you comment on someone else’s post, we can unspam you on our comments page, but only for our page. Good luck and blessings!

It will be in your WORDPRESS spam box Paul… on your comments line.. you will see approved and spam.. click on spam.. I disappeared this morning when I left a comment to test it..

I have been Spam in the past and sorted it out, but that was because of those damned blocking lists the Internet Watch Foundation slammed us with which took months to fix!!! 😦

I believe that if the folk (who’s blogs your comments have been marked as spam on) click the Not Spam option, that helps to clear your name of the Spam tag as well, Sue, but the more comments you make that get rejected into spam can also add to the spam tag. It’s all very confusing.
If you’re sent to my spam folder Sue, I shall rescue you and free you without a moment’s hesitation, and I shall click the Not Spam option with vigour.

[ Smiles ] The only thing that you can do is, email Akismet and let them know that you are not a spammer.
In the meantime, as your friend to let Akismet know that it was a false positive by approving your comment.

Something very similar happened to me…. I want one on one with a troll….. so he reported me…I guess he did not like losing…. they dumped me into the spam folder,which I did not know, Because WordPress never informed me!? Luckily I could make comments on my own blog. One of my blogging buddies found me in the spam folder and rescued me, that was the only way it stopped. I went the same route and it just went around in circles and I never heard from WordPress!!!!!
I wanted to check to see if you are in my spam folder and my spam folder is not there??

Thanks Nancy… It happened before to me. but that time I knew what caused it, I left two links on a persons blog.. and if their setting were set to only one.. that is what triggered it.. She too rescued me.. but still I was spammed.. so this is the second time I have had to go through this, and still I went around in circles..

Weird – since I tend to ‘catch up’ in batches, too and haven’t had that happen yet – apparently, they don’t ‘mark ya’ if your rolling through your bloggy pal’s photo shoot site and “Like” a thousand posts at one go, but only really have something to say or ask in a comment on a third of them or so – LOL

Hi Tamrahjo, yes normally I don’t have a problem.. but left a few comments upon one of my friends blogs and then discovered they were no longer appearing to be modified.. She rescued a few for me.. and the problem stopped on her blog.. but I was then labelled lol.. and when I moved to another blog, was sent to jail again 🙂 hoping it sorts its self out soon… Lovely to see you too xxx ❤

Sue, what a hassle you are having. I hope you get it sorted out soon. I have only found a couple of your comments in my spam folder, but I check it regularly. What I do find happening is if you leave a handful of comments now and again the last one or two will be held for approval.
What I do have a problem with and can’t seem to fix is the approval process. I have my account set up to automatically approve all comments by a person after they have one approved comment. Anyway, I have one person who’s comments several times a week but each time hers are held for approval. Have you run into this?

Yes I have, I think sometimes that happens Lois when they comment from a different IP address, so if they use their phone or other device location.. Its happened several times with regular commentors of mine.. So this could be the reason..

I think one way to get unspammed is to have your followers find you there and mark you “not spam”, if they do that you probably won’t be landing there again.

Leaving comments is supposed to be promoted on WordPress, it’s just not right that when one does, like you did, that they end up in spam?! No, that’s wrong, I hope they figure it out soon.

Oh dear Sue, isn’t WordPress a blast! So annoying, and quite the time suck. A blogger friend once found me in their spam too. We still don’t know why. That’s bad you feel you can’t visit blogs because you think you’ll go to spam 😦 You can visit me anytime, and I’ll start checking my spam, as I should do once in awhile anyway, to look for you hiding in my little garbage pile. I have a quick look at my spam folder on a regular basis (to avoid build up) then empty it. But I often find someone in their and think, hello, how did you end up here? I rescue them. It’s amazing who ends up in the spam folder sometimes. But most the time their just regular spammer that get emptied without a thought.

Definitely a problem there Sue, hope it gets sorted soon, but you have me a little confused with the word spammed, does it mean that you have made too many comments and are considered a spammer ? or does it mean someone has labelled you a spammer ? or has Askimet called you a spammer ?, sorry for bothering you Sue.

I made a lot of comments upon one person’s blog, visited as I do their posts in one of my catch up sessions.. Askimet obviously thought I was making too many comments and towards the end of my visit dumped several comments into their spam folder,.. I was rescued from their by the author of the blog, but Askimet still thought I was a spammer so when I left comments else where they disappeared.. So I had to contact them.. I am now no longer in their Jail and free to roam WP again.. And Ian… You could NEVER be a bother my friend 🙂 ❤
