A Different Perspective

Depending upon where we are standing in our lives we each of us are looking out from our own vantage point on life. I was looking out of my window the other day at the blossoms on the shrubs and admiring them. I was watching the blackbird gather worms from the lawn to fly back into the bushes to feed his young, when I thought what life from their perspective view point would be like. As they fly backwards and forwards across our garden.

I was in the allotments planting Peas yesterday and Swedes seeds, and unearthed many beetles and spiders as I disturbed their homes.. What a traumatic upheaval for them as their world was destroyed by my digging. And how indifferent we can seem about their plight!

Seeing the world from another perspective, whether spiritually or mentally, can introduce you to all sorts of hidden treasures. How we react to Insects is an example, as we often hold the fear our parents passed down to us, (and how many more views we hold onto which is passed down  via our upbringing) that is why I try to teach my now 4 yr old Granddaughter not to fear spiders, insects and caterpillars.. And teach her everything has a right to Life, that we are all of us part of a huge chain that interlinks with one another.

Spieders-Web2.jpg

Spiders may seem to some fearsome, ugly, and frightening, And yet they manage to weave something so beautiful we could never hope to create, and there is nothing more beautiful than catching a spiders web in the morning light full of dew

There may be at times experiences in life that from your vantage point may seem worrying, confusing and terrifying, we have all been there at some point. Or there may be events that look insignificant from where you are standing right now.

Whatever perspective we view our world from; it’s often good practice to see another’s point of view. Humankind is most often presented as a story about struggle, control, and survival, instead of one of trust and collaboration with the universe. So we grow up believing we must compete instead of co-operate

There are plenty of things that we cannot control, no matter how hard we try. But we can live by our values, which allow us to become a positive source of inspiration for others.

We may not be able to help those in far off places whose lives are a struggle, with conflict and war, or who are adrift in the ocean seeking refuge from the traumas of their own countries, But by simply being yourself, you can help the people in your life see how one person can make a difference by being a living example of consciousness. And we do that by recognizing and acknowledging the inherent value in everyone you encounter. Be it a Human or Insect.. Sometimes, the easiest way to encourage people – even challenging ones – to respect others is to respect them first.

The interconnectedness of all living beings using concrete, everyday examples. Many people are unaware of how their actions affect the world and are intrigued when they learn of the power they hold.

We each of us have that POWER, and we can do that by our own actions and intentions.. We do it by embracing the Positive, encouraging Peace and Tolerance and not allowing ourselves to get caught within the traps being set by Fear..

Love and Blessings

Sue

Thank you Hariod, I try, it will remain to be seen whether she retains the values I hope to teach her.. But I know from my own memory I took on board my own Grandmother’s teachings more so I think than my own Mother’s. It would be nice to think I had left a legacy of Positive Values.. 🙂

Fear is a powerful controller of people and it may a place at rare life-threatening situations but generally, nature and its creatures are to not be feared but seen as sharing the universe with us

      I agree Ina..
A ‘Controller’ of people is correct.. I hope we can see beyond those who are controlling and learn to embrace our calmer selves and see there is room for all, and can learn to tolerate and work towards a better future for all.. We are being told our future is no longer full of promise, but full of threats.. And while ever we live within this fear we then create into being those very fears..

Many thanks Ina for your comment, its lovely to have your views… 🙂 Hugs Sue

Brad I thank you, as always your words and thoughts mean a lot to me.. And I hope between our posts and thinking we can help inspire others to reach out to expand their own thoughts and perspectives into embracing each other with more kindness and compassion.. And see when we help another we are truly helping ourselves within our own evolutionary path of transcendence as we lift our vibration into lightness of BEing.. that who we always were. 🙂

Such a beautiful message and inspiration, Sue. I read Charlotte’s Web many times when I was a girl, so every spider is Charlotte as far as I’m concerned! 🙂 Your post reminded me of a reflection from Richard Rohr I read earlier this morning, about St. Francis of Assisi being a ‘prime attractor’, or “one who moves history and humanity forward just by being who he is.” Lovely. xoxo Jamie

I like that idea, about St Francis of Assisi being a prime attractor. I suppose when you stop to think about it there have been many such masters who have moved humanity on within their framework of thinking. or who have through their inventiveness allowed the evolutionary step to leap further.. One only has to look at Electricity the Light bulb, and the Telephone to see how one man’s thoughts have changed humanity.. Then we have people like Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King.. whose words still inspire..
Thank you Jamie, loved having your thoughts 🙂

So have I Suzie, and this is how the world progresses, for if we all thought the same, and never changed just think how stagnant the world would be :-)… Once upon a time scientists of the day thought the world was flat!.. and that we would fall off the edge if we went out to sea. Thankfully Science is now catching up with lots of Truths ;-).. All we need now is for a few Politicians to catch on and we would be well away!! 😉 :-D… ❤

And when we try walking a mile in another’s moccasins, whether human or beast, we can gain a much deeper appreciation and unconditional love for each other. Great post, Sue!

We are lucky here in England Elizabeth that we do not have many dangerous insects ect, Our only dangerous reptile is the adder which is quite elusive, But I have been lucky enough to see one out on the Moors as it awoke in Spring one year when it was more docile as it caught the sun to warm up a little.. Point of peaceful co-existence giving due respect to our Eco system so nicely driven home, Sue. Just a week back, while I was striding on my usual walking trail early in the morning, I saw the newspaper boy suddenly stop his bike in front of me pointing fearfully to a slithering snake across the path. He was obviously wanting to co-opt me to beat it to death, and seemed rather surprised to see me walk past it as if nothing happened. I told him not to disturb it and let it go its way, dinning it into his ears that the earth also belonged to the reptiles, as much as our claim on it. You grand kids are lucky to have you around…best wishes… Raj.

Thank you for that story Raj, yes when we leave well alone they will leave us alone.. Often its only our interference and hunting of animals that have taught them to fear us, so they strike back. All have their place within Nature, and must respect their rights to life. I love these analogies you’ve made with creatures who often are stepped on, killed with insecticides; or feared to the point of seeing psychiatrists. Beautiful image of your granddaughter allowing a caterpillar to crawl on her. I suppose the more one exposes children to co-exist with them; the fewer phobias we will have and more acceptance in a natural way.

Yes it seems my message has hit home with my Granddaughter, her mother said yesterday when we took our granddaughter back home to her parents.. That she has taken to saving any insect she sees inside their home and picking it up and placing it outside.. She said the day before she rescued several woodlice 🙂 and my daughter-in-law shivered as she told me how she picked them up unafraid and asked to have the door open to place them in the garden.. 🙂 I smiled widely when I heard this.. Seems my teachings have made a mark to -Co-exist 🙂 .. Thank you Maria… 🙂 Hugs your way my friend and thank you for your lovely comment x

Wow, Sue, this is amazing. If you think of it, it even saves money. I know people in cities are not used to the variety of insects that people in the country are. So there’s a lot of money invested in exterminating pests. They probably feel it’s worth it because urban dwellings may have not permitted them to learn about the cycles of these animals. I suppose the more you know about them, the better. Insects are among what they call “vermin”.

I try and glimpse the world as others see it, but there are times when my values are so different from those around me that i have to say, i love them, i do not agree with them and that is the way it needs to be. When we love someone we accept them for who they are and not who we want them to be.
As for spiders, i have lovely one outside my front door, which people often point out and offer to remove, but although they are not my greatest friends, he is doing no harm sitting there, so i leave him alone.

LOVED this, Sue. If we can just think about the interconnectiveness in All There Is, what a different world we would live in! When I am in my gardens, I really try not to harm the earthworms, and when I do disturb them, I try to put them back where they originally were. Now if I told that to someone who doesn’t “get it”, I would be laughed at. But YOU know. Thank you for teaching your grand-daughter not to fear insects. Bless you!! Love, Amy ❤

I can’t bear spiders Sue, have the most awful fear of fear but their webs…! I could stare at them for hours, such beautiful pieces of architecture, so fine but strong. I know what you mean about how we cause them such great upheaval without thinking. A few months ago I emptied a bucket of water outside and realised too late an ant colony was busy working till I threw what would amount to a massive tidal wave to us over them and I just stood staring at it thinking how awful that was! Have to be honest though and say there is no love lost between spiders and I, me the warrior and they don’t have a chance – Roger is far more humane with them. I try to be different, I love all creatures but the 8 legged variety and I am conscious that I am being very cruel!

I enjoyed this post very much, Sue. It’s true what you’ve written: our gardening disturbs the earth. Turning over rocks sends creepy-crawlies scrambling for cover. A worm or two may die when planting a tree… It brought up for me again a thought that comes from time to time, about destruction and creation being interwoven. I was speaking with a friend who doesn’t eat meat the other day, and she was mentioning, of her own volition, her awareness of the research that shows plants are sensitive to their surroundings as well… Is nothing safe??? How do we truly live without causing any “harm”, any change– indeed, as harm is so often in the eyes of the beholder…?

I am starting to wonder about a deeper unity and what it implies about these things… I attended a talk once several years ago that was given by a Huichol elder who described a pact between beings at the heart of the world, to nourish one another, of lives given that others might live, and that this giving is part of the essence of creation. Our impacts upon other beings should not be taken lightly, and yet at the same time we have to move about a bit in this world to live our lives… I’m just rambling here, circling around a sensation that what is true is far deeper and more widespread in its embrace of our every move than we may suspect…

We live in a time of such incredible questions… 🙂

    Your gardens are beautiful!

Apologies for the late reply.. Life gets a bit hectic around this time of year Michael, and I have been too tired of an evening to turn on the PC.. 🙂 I agree with you, about creation and destruction being interwoven.. The two go hand in hand.. I have a feeling in my bones right now that the world may well witness more upheaval from Mother Nature as she shakes us a little more to take notice ..
You can ramble any time Michael, Everything has an effect upon everything else.. And people do not realise that we all of us affect the ‘Whole’..
I think if we really understood the Law of Vibration, and Cause and Effect we would ALL of us start to live our lives that much more differently.. For what we think we create.. I tried to explain some of these Universal laws in my Universal Law Category.. And even with all I have come to understand.. I still keep seeking answers and also asking Questions.. 🙂
Many thanks for the compliments Michael..

You certainly know how to bring ones perspective on life and the world, back to the reality of our existence Sue, and its a beautiful perspective, as I found out following your link on Spiders, everything has its place and purpose in this life.
Mutual respect is what we need to appreciate with our animal and insect world.
If only mankind could harness that mutual respect between each other, we could all return to the Garden of Eden.

Sue you raise some excellent points here. Perspective is something we can get so mired in that we forget ours isn’t the only one. 🙂 As a writer, one of the hardest things to realize is that the “villain” is the hero of his story. So I was surprised when I learned that sparrows are in danger around the UK and their numbers are declining.. due to hedgerows disappearing and modern housing materials which stop them nesting.. Some people just break down under the pressures of life.
When we know what their problem is we can be sympathetic.
As for spiders and insects I would be cautious in handling some.
But most creatures will not hurt you if you do not frighten or hurt them.

I played a game with her with her senses, and she remembered which was which via smell.. 🙂 I am happy you enjoyed reading Jack.. Blessings my friend _/\_

Nice to see you here Sue taking time out of the garden, yet writing about the beauty of nature and the power we have within ourselves when we keep a positive vibe. ❤

A lovely post Sue and funny that I’ve read two posts this morning about the mindfulness towards spider, you might enjoy this story of the spider who lost her egg sac and found it again 🙂 http://liberatedway.com/2015/05/28/on-being-mindful-and-responsible-to-living-things/

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
