Our Inner Compass!

Trusting your Inner Compass

Each of us are unique, each of us has our own sense of ‘Right and Wrong’ and our own way of experiencing that world. While I know that I often look to find answers to life’s Questions by looking outside of myself, absorbing through reading and by asking others their opinions, answers given to us are only their outlook, their view point. And that viewpoint is coloured by their experiences in life,  which may not be mine or yours.

Our world view is coloured by the opinions of others, we are brought up within indoctrinated systems that is teaching us constantly other’s points of view.. We then form our own judgements  on which view to take but are often persuaded by our parental views and those around us within our communities..

I wonder when are we going to stop looking at other peoples views and step outside our boxes to look at ourselves..

We often pose questions as to WHY? why me, why war, Why are so many  so angry, Why has half the world more than enough while the other half starve?  How can people be so brutal to others?  Why, why why!… We put our questions out there hoping for the answers to return… Yet to  answer many of those  Questions we  each have to look no further than ourselves and look within.

When we realise that we have always had a gateway to that inner pool of knowledge and when we understand that we have access to that part of us which knows exactly that which we need. For each of us holds that ‘Inner Compass’ which points us in the right direction, even if at times we think we have lost our way.. The detour was needed in order for us to take in the view and learn from that experience.

When we realise that when we stop being angry, and stop name calling, pointing fingers, and blaming, when we realise we need  to stop being judgemental, and holding prejudice, And when we stop our family feuds, and petty squabbles…

We then begin to see the answers of why this world is like it is, for the outside world resides within each one of us. And it’s only reflecting back that which we are each giving out.

We all have to step up to the our own personal responsibility to choose which direction we want the World to head in and ask ourselves  “Am I joining in the Anger, Blame game”, or “can I do something positive to help set a new direction?”.

There is Only YOU who can know the how’s and whys of your life. And the deepest Answers are the ones that lie within yourself.. And they are only revealed when you start to Ask yourself those Inner most Questions..

So….  what is your Inner Compass  telling you?.. and in which Direction is it set?

I hope you choose a Peaceful Path and not get swept up within the Fear and Anger so many are being trapped in..

I hope it leads you along a peaceful path of self discovery.

Blessings

~Sue~

    Hi Sue,
I feel your voice here, and it resonates very much with how I have been feeling most of my life. I especially appreciate your words here, “even if at times we think we have lost our way.. The detour was needed in order for us to take in the view and learn from that experience.” Sometimes the detour looks really good, too!

I have spent my life trying to do what was right and suffered terribly at the hands of people intent on evil, from my abuser, my father and people like Stephanie’s abuser who pretended to be good, but were totally sick and depraved, to those who saw me as a way to make money.

Now I am damaged and struggle to function every day with nobody around me I can trust because every word I say is passed on in an effort to make more money.

All I can do is stick to my core values, my own moral compass, and wait for them to poison themselves with their own bile.

I know this: I am a far better person than they will ever be and one day I’ll see them screw up and derive some satisfaction from the event.

    Such is Karma! 🙂

In this sense, Mindfulness has really helped me. Human beings, unlike other animals, seem to have to work a lot harder…Human brains demand too much; because there was the “culture” concept created. Culture is beautiful, it is the soul of society, but values degrade when it places too much value on material gain and success. I think there may be a difficulty with “success”, but society has instilled this skin deep in our psyche. Perhaps there needs to be a breakdown of what the word “success” means, so that humans can follow this inner “compass” more efficiently. Humanity in itself seems to be extremely complicated compared to those of other animals. We do seem to have an inner “biological clock”, but not as efficient as that of a whale’s, sea turtles, and pigeons, who do respond to earth’s magnetosphere automatically. Humans rely on “instruments” which culture does provide, but it gets much more complicated when computers begin to do the thinking for us, and tools such as weapons are used, and were created within the prehistoric society.

I believe that probably most everything on earth existed before humans evolved into homo sapiens. I have this philosophy that humans evolved to become even more vulnerable than man’s original ancestor: the ape. I still don’t know why this happened to humans, but it seems to be the probable reason as to perhaps why this compass is usually lacking. Humans become more vulnerable as they try to reinvent everything that has existed before; and then claim it has been “discovered”. This probably sounds fatalistic, but I don’t mean it that way, I’m probably hinting at the old science vs. religion issue.

      Dear Maria,
What a very thoughtful response and yes I agree with your thinking..

Culture is beautiful, it is the soul of society, but values degrade when it places too much value on material gain and success.

And that dear Maria you have it in a nutshell, We have lost our way in the world as a species we no longer work in harmony with Mother Nature, but see Mother Nature as a means to an end for our own needs.. We cast aside the needs of other species considering ourselves superior.. We have allowed Greed to take control over Farming, using pesticides, We have become desensitised to the suffering of Mass produced Meats with cattle and pigs, chickens being penned up with no room to move.. We inject them with agents and feed them foods which are not natural to fatten them up for our human consumption.. We tare up the land and poison the ocean for oil.. And if that is not enough we then go to war and kill one another over land and beliefs..

Man as a species has lost his way.. And has long forgotten to follow his inner promptings and intuition.. For he has thought the material world a much better prize than his spiritual heritage..
When we learn to let go of the Material, which is now starting to crumble before our eyes, and see Nature has always been a force to be respected both in her elements and in other species.. He then starts to put his inner compass back in alignment..

I personally feel Maria, that Mankind still has a big wake up call, unless he starts to align that compass again with his true direction.. And that message has been delivered on more than one occasion through the various ‘Masters’ on Earth.. And that is to LOVE one another and to treat each other as we would wish to be treated.. When we get that vibration once again in the right place, and we all home in on it.. Then we will see perhaps this world needed to get lost in order for it to find itself again..

Love and Blessings and thank you for such a wonderful response Maria.. ❤ Sue

Yes it struck home to me the other evening when I caught a local news programme which was appealing for witnesses, Just how Selfish and uncaring many are.. As a good Samaritan went to aid a young woman who was crying in the street after an argument with her boyfriend.. While the man stood talking to her and her girl friend, the boyfriend returned shown on CV footage him Knock the Good Samaritan down cold and unconscious. He broke the man’s jaw and he ended up in a critical condition for a while with a blood clot on his brain from the fall of hitting the back of his head on the road.. The camera showed many other people around who witnessed the assault and yet they all just walked by the man who was bleeding on the floor.. We live in a very selfish world Frank.. 😦

A wonderfully constructed, eloquent and profound article Sue, which demands much of the reader in order to fathom its depths. We seem to be pointing back to the nature of thought, and how thought is the forerunner of all things: a Buddhist concept. Every human action, from simple acts of kindness, to the commencement of great wars, begins with a single thought. These thoughts are all conditioned of course, as you point out, and it is this pattern of conditioning which acts as our metaphorical compass. The good news is that the human compass is always open to setting new patterns of conditioning within itself, such that our thoughts may be influenced in positive ways, and which in turn lead to positive actions. You do a marvellous job here Sue in influencing those new patterns of conditioning within all of us.

Yes Thought is the KEY here Hariod as we have discussed before. I have no doubts what so ever there are as many acts of Kindness in the world as their are evil intentions.. But the Powers that be promote the Fear factor and so we often feel our direction in life is taking a plunge into Darkness!.. When the Mass’s then join in the Fearfulness we then generate more fear and so on..
And our compass can be switched in an instant.. And if the world could but see the mirror of their thoughts is what we are now seeing as reality, I am sure they would change their thoughts to more positive vibrations if they realised how the power of their thoughts affected the world and events around themselves..

Many thanks Hariod.. Such a lovely comment from your good self.. Hugs ❤ Sue

Interesting post, enlivened by a few keenly insightful observations from fellow drummers. Aligning one’s inner compass correctly is a function of education, culture and upbringing. When we study the surrounding flora and fauna, there are any number of creatures with much sharper sense organs than the highly evolved Homo sapiens. There may be a greater reason for toning down a few faculties to strike the right balance of features in Homo sapiens; to my mind, this balance may be to create a dependence by humans on other creatures to build an eco system of co-operative, interdependent co-existence, to sustain and preserve a marvellous diversity in the environmental scale. Man is not inventing anything new in a Cosmos replete with all knowledge and wisdom; knowledge advances and technologies develop out of the above repository as part of evolutionary cycle consisting of everything in an onward movement. Our minds are exposed to multiple influences of societies and cultures, existing bodies of systematised knowledge, religions, dogmas and philosophies. We may use these as reference points, not to be influenced by it but to arrive at and hone our own thinking and points of view, in order that our inner world influences and refines the outer world, and not vice versa, as the external world is riddled with crudities and imperfections. There is no progress whatsoever if everyone passively chose to be influenced by external status-quo. Hence the inner compass must stay fine-tuned and keep working towards guiding life in right directions for an enlightened world order. I join you in that hope, my dear Sue…best wishes… Raj.

Raj, what a wonderful reply my friend.. Loved this paragraph.

I agree our inner compass is always re-aligning as we turn this way and that through the evolution of our modern day world.. Those inborn senses are no longer tuned in to the intuitive parts of our thinking. For most of today’s world is based upon others doing our thinking for us.. And like any muscle in the body when we do not use it, it becomes weakened.. And Mankind has become lazy in thinking the worlds problems is not his responsibility.. And we are somehow separate from it.. Yet we are in fact the creators ..
I thank you most kindly Raj for sharing your wisdom with us here.. Loved your comment.. 🙂 Sue

What a thought-provoking post. In one sense I agree with all that you say, and with many replies ahead of this one. However, there is another sense that the levels of anger we see so prevalent in so many societies are because there are too many examples of greed, inequality, injustice and selfishness about us.

We may have our compasses set for peace but without our Captains steering our ships in the same direction I fear for the reefs.

Yes lots of injustices Paul in the world which gets many riled up.. But then I ask myself what is my energy doing, is it joining in the negative? and adding to the pool of vibration of anger which sits on many a doorstep right now. Or do I create a different emotion, One of compassion!.. Where by I turn my thoughts from Anger, into a Positive vibration, one which sends Peace into a situation.. Also I am learning we are buying into other peoples Anger.. Is it our story? is it my Anger to own? And were it not for the Media informing me, would my vibration be joining the swell of the unrest?
Emotions are what we are generating.. And Our Collective thoughts are having a huge impact upon outcomes in the world.. We have to try Paul to move the Anger into our hearts and try to send out Love to the situations we feel angry about..
We are All our own Captains.. I will share this video link

      HERE

with you to a Conversation with Gregg Braden about the Power of Prayer/Thought.. He discusses Anger within this short video of a longer discussion. Many thanks Paul for adding your thoughts which I very much appreciate 🙂 Sue

Well said DW….I think humanity is so trained to live life on auto pilot, very few take the time to be observant, pay attention or know themselves well enough to know what is right or wrong for them. Until we realize our auto pilot buttons are on things will continue unfortunately. We humans are so DISCONNECTED from our lives. Lots of work to be done. I still feel it is past time to become active in finding ways to make the changes to the world we wish to see. Talk is very cheap as they say. Thanks for your wonderful thoughts. Hugs to you….VK ❤

Yes I concur with your thoughts we have become disconnected.. We have been so dumbed down in our modern day world with our gadgets.. And I confess I too am addicted to WP 😀 Finding the Balance and working out ways of being active to make the changes is the Key I agree.. I can only change my own little world.. And thoughts within it.. I do that by tending my garden, growing our own, and being the best I know how to be.. Which may not be much.. but if we all sent out Peace and held our thoughts to account.. We could all very easily change our world from our armchairs with Love ..

Dear Ian. I have my moments Ian when I can get swept up within doubt and all that despair one feels at times when looking out at the World.. But I have come to understand deeper that we are all of us connecting with the energies.. And it serves the Whole no good by adding to the negative.. So I choose to send positive thoughts as hard as that is at times to those who perpetrate such horrendous crimes against humanity.. I have to see the larger picture..
We are here to experience.. Only through this experience do we get to determine what LOVE and Caring really means.. Without the Darkside we could not ever possibly get to know the Light.. Love.. So within our duality we need both Negative and Positive energy.. Its all about Vibration.. And which vibration we choose to be in..
I choose to set my compass to the Positive Higher Vibration which is Love..

Many thanks Ian.. sending Love and Peace your way.. Sue

I think we often live such busy lives caught up with this issue and that issue that we completely lose sight of what we’re behaving like ourselves, and how that is impacting on both ourselves and the world around us, which in turn is rippling out much further afield. We become blind to it and therefore see no need to change our thinking and behaviour…which is of course one of many reasons why we need YOU!! Your insights and words of wisdom restart the forgotten thought processes that hopefully will lead to big improvements, especially if many of us are pursuing the same end 🙂 Wolfie hugs:) xx

Awww Bless you Wolfie.. Many thanks for this very kind comment.. You made my Day 🙂 And yes life often gets in the way of our thinking 🙂 especially when we are conditioned to Work, Work WORK.. Often being encouraged to get into debt so we keep on working!.. To buy ‘Things’ most times we could often manage without.. But then this is our ‘Earth’ Experience, to experience the ‘Material World’… But along the way we have lost the plot, and some of our basic values.. We have become as you rightly say ‘Blinded’but I have faith more are waking up to themselves, and are starting to see beneath this material world of illusion we have created for ourselves.. And start to see WE can change the world, but to do so we need to see it starts within each of us to start and change our own behaviours before we start pointing our fingers at what is wrong with the world.. We need to put right what is wrong in our own lives..

Many thanks my dear Wolfie… I always enjoy your paw prints you leave here.. Hugs your way.. Love Sue ❤

Thank you 🙂 My inner compass is easily confused at the moment! It spins around lots, but I’m trying to build a magnet inside to solve that, haha! It helps to have nudges/ hear the drums when I start dancing too far away 🙂

“Our world view is coloured by the opinions of others, we are brought up within indoctrinated systems that is teaching us constantly other’s points of view”….
I couldn’t’ agree more with you… Beliefs!… Just that… My inner compass tells me to follow my intuition and heart and try to remain open and tolerant.
I think your post is a perfect way to start my friday as I am nodding in agreement with you, Sue… Happy day and hugs, dear friend. Aquileana 😀

We think this, do this, say this because they thought this, did this, said this; We can blame our irresponsibility on the age old cliché that talks of the sins of the father getting passed on to the child. Following the light of our inner compass demands immense courage and a willingness to look within. In a paradoxical way our reality today is no ones fault but it still is our responsibility to take personal charge and help bring about the healing changes that we truly desire to see. Thanks for another wake up call dear Sue. Wish you a lovely weekend!

Oh believe me PR, I have needed to listen to that Inner prompting many a time to remind myself its all about My Choices.. And I have at times got caught within the trap of living other people’s stories rather than my own.. Once we really wake up, we see what is needed.. And following our Inner compass which often steers us in the right direction of our hearts, but our heads will over ride and get in the way of our intuition.. I am always Happy when I know my words have resonated with another.. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts.. Enjoy your weekend and remember YOU are important!… And YOU deserve Happiness… but only YOU can make it happen… 🙂 and we do that by changing our perspective on how we look at things.. And how we hold onto wounds, I realised some time ago.. I was the only one hanging onto hurt.. It sticks like glue, and gets under our skin.. and takes often many layers of peeling back to release and let go.. I am still learning like we all are.. but once we peel back our emotions and Let Go of blame, and Judgements.. we see a whole new side to ourselves.. Which is much lighter. and brighter.. 🙂 xxx ❤

So true sue, we have to be so careful what we say to others… Especially if people don’t ask for advice… The most anyone can do is be a shinning example of celebrating life that miraculously reflects truth in another. My inner compass is tuning into how vulnerable my nervous system is at the moment and becoming my nervous system so that I can know how to make it feel more comfortable… Thanks for another great and thoughtful post sue x Barbara

How true that the outside world is often reflected by our inner compass and we make our own environment. I’ve often found that when I’ve stopped and seen the situation from another person’s perspective that it makes life easier and healing can begin of one’s own thoughts and emotions. Inspiring thoughts for a Sunday morning read and the sun streams in. Thanks Sue! 🙂

This is a very deep and thoughtful post Sue and you are very much right. Most of the answers we can find inside ourselves, sad enough that many cut their inner voice away by not listening at all or use drugs of any kind to keep their inner voice silent.

Yes true Irene about not listening to our inner voice, and many do not heed, or as you say silence it.. I hope many more prick up their ears and go within and listen to their hearts.. For this world needs now more hearts to join together and listen to the promptings of their intuitive insights.. If we are to heal the world from the dark hole it is travelling down.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
