My Finished Mandala

Completed Mandala

So what is a Mandala?

The word Mandala (pronunciation mon- dah- lah) means “circle”.  A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds.

I thoroughly enjoyed painting this one which Shree designed Here . I used watercolours after printing off Shree’s design on some Ivory card which I use for Ink and washes . I commenced my painting starting from the centre. I lit a candle and set my intention and started to paint from the centre outwards.

Mandala

All the time I was painting I was seeing how Shree had cleverly constructed its design, and I used my own intuition as to what colours to paint . Seeing also the various forms which represented to me certain parts of our Earth and Universe..

For instance the wavy lines represented to me the ocean and how it surrounds all our lands, and within how we are made up of the majority of water. The waves also represented our Mass Consciousness joining each element together. The white spots on the blue, both in the centre and around the edges are the planets and stars of the Universe. The Rainbows in each of the four corners are the spectrum of colour found in Water and crystals combining the elements of Earth and Water. The white tear like shapes again is water and how it weaves its way through rivers and streams, our tears and the rain. The Red and Orange represents Fire and Energy, while the four red triangles with the S shape swirl to me represented the Wind of the four corners. Then after I had painted all the colours I went over Shree’s outline again in black paint.

Even now each time I gaze upon it I see a new element. But for me I just enjoyed being so absorbed within the creation as I blended as one within its flow of energy.

Mandala – Sanskrit word meaning container for essence -energy, circle, totality, completion.

Mandala, is the ‘space’ where the inner and outer worlds meet, a place that can hold and manifest the powerful energy of intention .

Creating a Mandala The internet is full of Beautiful creations of mandalas and their meanings. Just take a look at some Here

Google Images

Above are some monks who are creating their mandala out of coloured sand After its complete they brush it away, as they symbolise the letting go of the material and the impermanence of this world. They then take the sand to some natural running water so that it can merge with the Earth.

Below is a speeded up version of how Monks created a completed Mandala and its only just over 2 mins long for your to watch. Fascinating.

Let the rest of your week be creative as you follow the flow of Life

Beautiful design and I love that you painted it in with colors according to your intuition. I see the elements you describe – the Water one jumped right out at me immediately. Ah yes, I am starting to listen to my intuition more. That’s a good sign. Love you! xo

    Beautiful hun as always! 🙂

I remember the video from a few years back.

Such a shame that real beauty was created only to be destroyed… 😦

Very beautiful, well done for completed it. I have come to understand that a mandala is a representation of life, of an individuals life and completing one becomes a part of who you are and where you are in life. I have printed off several and coloured them in, but would really like to create my own. You started in the middle and i need to remember to do that also, as i always want to see the finished product even before i begin.

Many moons ago in about 2000 I watched Tibetan monks who came to London for the celebration of Sacred Tibetan art in all it forms, construct a sand mandala which was then taken and tipped into the River Thames with each grain of sand representing a blessing on the City of London. Love and a million blessings to you Sue, David

We may not be able to put the World to rights, but we can all try to bring a little ‘Rightness’ and ‘Peace’ into our own circle/piece of the world Val, and its there it starts, our own little bit of Peace as we start from our own centre to spread it outwards like in the painting … All things start with Self!

Cyndi, I don’t know if I have answered your comment before Cyndi, LOL, I am catching myself up backwards here LOL.. But thank you for that WOW, I appreciate it… and will pass onto Shree,
As for your thought on my heart being centred, It surely did bring Peace and calm as I felt connected with the elements while creating…. Time was lost as was my thoughts as I blended within its Contours and Spirals. The Matrix of Life almost like the spider who spins her web, it held me captive xxxx

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love...
