Here is another update as to the progress ofGrow Your Own. pages here on Dreamwalker’s.
When we connect back into Nature she never disappoints us. As in my last post toShine or not to Shine I explained how I had been feeling a little under the weather..( Maybe all the rain had also damped my spirits) But we all need the rain in our lives at times to enable us to grow and mature, as we appreciate the Sunny Days and those gifts we often take for granted. Just like our plants which wouldn’t survive if they had no rainfall.. Just like at the opposite ends of the scale, too much Sun and they dry up and wither, too much rain and they can rot and die also,.
So a Balance is needed both within Nature and within our own lives..
So after feeling quite low.. I took myself off to the allotments, we hadn’t been for a few days as it had been constantly raining. The weeds had quickly overgrown again, they always seem to flourish what ever the weather. My Hubby set too and rotavated, extracting last years parsnips and swedes which had gone to seed.
The Peas had been set and one or two had popped up which were pushed down again.. If the field mice get a whiff of them they can soon go down the row and eat most of them. The Onions I set a few weeks back you can just make out sprouting now to the right where the string is still across.
The Top picture shows the bean sticks which have been erected for the runner beans/kidney beans. The Bean Plants are still in the greenhouse and will be brought out to harden off about a week before they go into the ground at the end of May.. This is usually when last of the Frosts have gone, but nothing is certain in Gardening, especially as the weather seems to be taking its toll around the world with horrendous hail storms.
After a couple of hours weeding in the allotments, I was tired and a little sore, but my Spirit was truly rejuvenated.
Its amazing how Nature sooths us with her healing Balm
When we are of low spirit, a walk out in Natures Garden often is all we need to help heal our inner spirits.. I wonder just how many of us take Nature for granted..And how many in the modern day world understand that Nature is forever combating change, but she still goes on Growing.
As I looked at the Allotment, nothing much seems to be happening, but lots of things are going on under the surface, as the seeds are germinating waiting for that warmth to make them spring forth. Much is also happening beneath the surface of our Earth always its changing as Gaia too is Growing and reaching forever upwards in her vibration.
So too we humans search throughout our lives for that warmth, that love in which to feel nourished and nurtured . Without that love we too cannot grow in spirit.. So like all Gardens we need to weed out that which doesn’t serve us anymore and feed only that which we want to grow and flourish.
So Happy Gardening both in your own Back Yards and within your Minds..
For we all of us grow towards the ‘Light’.

So true DW….Being out in nature is so calming and yes, balancing! It is wonderful to watch the new growth emerge. Exciting. Your allotment looks marvelous. Can’t wait to see it when full growth is happening. Glad it picked up your spirits. We have had continual rain for about a week and half. Getting really old! I’m ready for sunshine. Hi Prenin, thank you, the Bees we had early on Great Bubble Bees back in March when the weather quite warm.. Just hoping they didnt emerge too soon… and got too cold.. Thank you for your well wishes Prenin. We are late in planting compared to many who already have peas and beans in their allotments sprouting.. but a sharp frost can soon destroy the bean plants.. although the peas are hardy enough.. Hugs back to you xx

Gardening in the outdoors and inside ourselves requires both rain and sunshine, both times of standing back and waiting and times of kneeling and weeding and feeding and transplanting. Wow, you guys there have a really short growing season, not transplanting those bean plants until the end of May. We here in the U.S.A. Deep South start gathering beans shortly after the beginning of June! In fact, many here grown three crops a year: early spring, summer, and autumn. In South Mississippi, we used to plant carrots and green peas and onions, etc. in late January! This year, I had three kinds of spring flowering bulbs blooming in my yard by the third week of January! I just love blogging with people from all over the globe and comparing stuff like this!

WOW Granbee, yes compared to yourselves we do have a short growing season, We can’t put our tender crops out until the end of May thats when we have usually seen the last of the Night Frosts.. We freeze alot of our fruit crops such as blackberries and raspberries and Green beans and peas and sweet corn to last us over the winter.. But have root veggies such as swedes parsips and carrots. although last year our carrots got carrot fly and didnt do so well, This year We are going to plant in a raised bed about Three foot high when the frame is completed.. This should stop the carrot fly as they only fly about a 1 ft off the ground… It just makes you think what sort of pesticides Farmers are using as their carrots havent a blemish nor weed, so it makes you wonder what is being pumped into the soil? which then we eat..
Glad you found of interest.. 🙂

The allotment looks great, Sue! And I am sure it is very relaxing to walk through there…after all the hard work that is, which is all rewarding. I agree with what you said about weeding not only our outdoor garden, but our inner one too. Otherwise, the weeds that get in can choke out the good. Stay watered, feed and weeded and nature will take care of the rest. Thanks for the visit earlier too. love and hugs xx

I am having a go at a smaller garden then in the past Sue,,perhaps a few of everything and then my favorite ,sunflowers with beans climbing up them.Nothing I love more in nature then that sacred spiral that unfolds as the summer sun and the balance of nature combine to bring beauty in tandem with some good old fashioned do it yourself attitude, and a healthy one at that..

So true, we need that balance.
But I hate rain so much. Where I live (French Riviera), weather’s kinda perfect. So when it rains a little bit everyone here is “depressed”. I swear it’s true. We’re so used to sunny weather. lol Even our skin is used to it.
Anyway, these little plants are so cute. Gardening is a lot of work but so worth it.
🙂 Thanks for sharing these thoughts, Sue. Love your blog.
