I love the Things with Wings.
Once upon a time there lived a little Caterpillar who lived among the cabbages and weeds. All day long he’d munch and chew, munch and chew, as bigger and bigger he grew.
And each day as he watches the birds high in the sky he thinks how wonderful it would be to have Wings and fly, and live high up with the tree instead of munching low to the ground beneath the Cabbages making no sound.
Then one day he had a fright, as birds did swoop and peck with beak his cabbage leaf to shake his feet.
His friend was munching by his side when all of a sudden in big surprise the one with Wings did grab him tight and off she flew with him out of sight.
Oh how he wished he had wings!
He munched his way among the leaves getting wet and cold with breeze, until one day he’d ate his Fill, and thought to himself he’d catch a chill.
He saw the birds all flying south and wished once more with yawning mouth that he too had wings.
And so when days did grow too cold, he spun a blanket around him to hold him suspended from wind and hail He chose a spot in a sheltered Vale, and as he snuggles down to sleep he dreamt of birds with wings so sleek
At last from slumber he awoke as Sun rays did shine with heat to stroke his back as he did stretch his legs and he pushed his way out of his Bed.
He’s hung suspended upon his thread and waited until the sun shone on his head.
He stretched himself in all directions, and jumped with joy at his inspections, for no longer was he green and fat but he’d grown Wings now Fancy that..
He flew with Joy and lots of pride no longer now did he have to hide. He flapped his wings and fluttered High with wings did swoop and dive.
No longer was his world so dim for he was free to fly on whim.
He settled high on blossoms branch, oh how he loved his wings and danced.
At last I’ve got my wings to fly..
At last I’m flying In the Sky ..
For I am A Butterfly!

So beautiful! I love this poem!
The video is pretty. I couldn’t hear any sound, but unsure if it is supposed to be silent. Kind of goes with the energy of the poem, until the end, when the little guy gets to fly!
Awesome my friend!!!

Yes I think the Video was meant to be silent, but I was pleased in a way it was as it made you just view the caterpillar… and the sounds were heard of nature as it emerged… So pleased you few by my blog today

This is a lovely poem that you have shared with us all Sue, and the transformation for him was a truly wonderful surprise to, this offering is definitely a poem that children would enjoy also, I wrote a poem for children to read some time ago but I never liked it all that much and so gave up on the idea, besides the Skeletons, Vampires, Werewolves and Ghouls take most of my time up these days 🙂 lol
Have a wonderful rest of day now
and be good as the evening beckons 🙂 lol

The idea was inspired by a friend of mine who gave me the title..” I love the things with Wings”.. and as i wrote it late one sleepless night I had the idea of my granddaughter in mind as I wrote.. Maybe I will put together a little scrap-book of poems so that when she gets older she can read them at bed-time… Watch this Space! lol .. Thanks again for your imput Androgoth .. 🙂

I think that is an excellent idea Sue and there is no time like the present, so get scrawling those poems onto paper, and I am sure that when your Granddaughter gets a little older she will love them…

This is SO beautiful, as beautiful as the comment you left on my blog in response to the words I quoted by C.S. Lewis. You said:
“we are travellers who seek and who travel beyond the stars…. knowing that we are everlasting Light… and that we are forever held in that unconditional love to hold each other in this dimension, until we are once again called home…
For we were ALL made for other Worlds!….Blessings to you”
And blessings to you in return.
I just read your About Me page. Now I feel like I know you a bit more since I “saw” you. Someone mentioned a grandchild. Aren’t grandchildren awesome. I have seven, and I dearly love them.
This beautiful poem about butterflies takes me back to my childhood. I was 12 (in 1952) before the advent of television; or rather before we had a small black and white TV. And so in the summer, instead of sitting in front of a TV, I was outside butterfly watching as well as playing all kinds of social games with my friends. So you took me back to a bright, sunny, slower, and less violent earth-time. You have a way with words that is a wonderful gift. Keep sharing!

Thank you Ann.. I am pleased this poem triggered such a pleasant memory … And thank you for your most gracious compliment… And I’m a granny of an 8 mth old Granddaughter..My Sons child, She like all grandchildren are very special gifts.. As I didn’t ever think I would become a Gran… It made me start knitting again as I used to knit for my own children when small and dress-make etc. Things that many young mums have lost the skills of how to do today.. But I was taught to knit by my Grandmother, and have loved knitting again.. I was born when you were 14, But still remember the black and white small TV set .. The days then did seem all the more Sunny didn’t they Ann… Maybe we just remember the Brightest of days… Maybe that is what she should all strive to do and maybe then the shadows of hurt and wounds we as humans cling on to wouldn’t reverberate around so many minds as they seek revenge as they hold onto past hurts and injustices as they go to war using the past as a weapon to justify their actions in the now..
Wishing you a peaceful Bright Day!

Hi Lorrena… always so Happy to see your comments here!.. I spin and weave and weave and spin…. as do we all within the Consciousness.. ” I love the Things with Wings” holds many memories, as we each of us emerge from that Chrysalis to soar to new heights of discovery.. I have discovered much in this life… But each lesson teaches us something new.. and we never stop learning upon this upward spiral towards the light of all things True and Pure!..
