Following the Flow

Arriving back from my vacation can often feel like a shock to the system, as we adjust back into the realm of being busy, as our days of relaxation are soon over.

Having had time away in beautiful Scotland, when I arrived home, the weather in England had been exceptionally warm, and therefore everything in the garden had bloomed, including the weeds.  So, among our first tasks was to set too and water and weed and sow seeds that still needed to be sown and plant out things which had been in the cold-frame which were ready for the allotment.

This was what it was like when we left this piece at the end of April before my holiday.

Sometimes things have to take a backseat and it happened to be my blogs this time that were pending.  So, apologies for those of you who still await my replies to your generous comments on my last post. I am hoping to get around to responding shortly to all, and have made a start.

This is how the weeds had grown in a couple of weeks, and the rest of the allotments were the same.

But sometimes we just have to follow the flow, and for the moment, I need to pour my attention into planting and sowing for the moment.

The older we get the more effort it takes and sometimes I am just too tired to do anything else other than stare into space and enjoy the solitude and quiet space as I empty my head which we all of us need after spending time hoeing and weeding between beetroot and parsnips seedling. So in the afternoons I have been meditating and sleeping, rejuvenating and going within the flow of Now.

This view looks down to the sheds and there is more of the plot behind the sheds, which gives you the scale of our plot.

Please know that I will get around to your comments and eventually your blogs, but for now I need to honour my body as I find all I want to do is sleep.  So, I am Just going with the flow as I get caught up with what needs doing in our home and our allotments.

Fruit bushes now weeded between since this photo.

Have a beautiful weekend and remember. ENJOY THE NOW OF YOUR MOMENTS, for we take so very much our Now Moments for granted.

Love and Blessings and hope to be back to normal blogging very soon.

Sue

Hey DW!! Hope the trip was wonderful and your soul was revived. Now it’s back to dirt under the finger nails. And we love that. I believe the changes we are undergoing right now are zapping us all in many ways. A lot of people are tapped out of energy. Some days I want to just sit and read but then I can’t keep my eyes open. Granted we are all aging, but….Dimensional shifting is far more complex than imagined…I wonder where we are at this point….Hugs to you my friend. Glad you’re back…Much love…VK ❤

Hi VK yes the trip reached the parts that needed reviving 🙂 And you are right about ‘Changes’ both outwardly and inwardly.. You have no idea the amount of effort it has taken to just switch back the computer!… LOL.. As the ‘Shift’ I feel is taking me further away from blog land at the moment as all I want to do is sit out in nature, and absorb her light.. So I am taking my time on line in bite size chunks.. As I orientate myself back into technology.. 🙂
Many thanks for the welcome back.. I appreciate your well wishes VK.. And the same back to you.. Hope you get that Book finally read.. 🙂 ❤ Love to you xx

Somehow the entire post felt like a poetry to me, as I read it kept rhyming continually 🙂
As much as I miss your presence, your post inspires me and as if gives me permission to follow my heart and take the time to myself, without the pressure.
“stare into space and enjoy the solitude and quiet space as I empty my head which we all of us need’ – especially this – I feel I need so much of this, that so many tasks remain undone even though I clearly know they are to be done. I have to remind myself that it is my normal. My moments are mine to create and enjoy.
Amazing pictures and I am happy for your vacation and gardening Sue.

Dearest Pragalbha, thank you dear friend for your lovely comment.. And your words,

your post inspires me and as if gives me permission to follow my heart and take the time to myself, without the pressure.

Like you I would often feel pressured to keep on keeping on, while all the while deep inside I was ignoring the voice which told me to rest. Now I listen more intently to that voice, and no longer feel as guilty, thinking I let others down.. When in fact all I was doing was letting myself down, by not resting and taking time out for self.. Doing so is not selfish, it is preserving our health, and taking time to be in nature and meditate allows us to reconnect and rejuvenate our energies to that which we now need to align with.

” My moments are mine to create and enjoy.”

So true… Keep Creating and Enjoying Pragalbha, in ALL you do.. ❤
      Love and Blessings xx

So true Mark.. I only wish at times our crops grew as fast and as strong as the weeds.. They grow twice the rate lol.. I am having the day off from the allotment today, Hubbies orders, as I over did things yesterday.. So taking advantage and trying to catch up a little here… But the birds are chirping and the sun is shining, so in a few minutes I will close down here to enjoy the afternoon Sun.. And catch up again later… Thank you for your warm welcome back and yes, we are making most of the warmth while we have it.. For in a blink all can change here in England.. LOL..

Do you or your husband have family in Scotland? I see you love to travel there. I think I remember telling you that my grandmother’s father’s family was from Scotland (I am very diverse) with the last name of McFadden. My grandmother’s mother’s family from Germany with the last name of Ohm. Anyway, glad you had time away and that you are back and not to worry as your garden will be beautiful soon. xoxo

Hi dear Renee, the answer is no to that question, just a love of the country.. I remember your own connection and many over in the ‘States’ can trace ancestry back to the time when for many the only way of survival was to head out for a new life in America.. So many sad tales of eviction in the clearances that took place of families that were treated terribly by rich land owners.
Thank you Renee.. we are getting things back ship shape again.. Much Love my friend.. ❤

Welcome back. Beautiful holidays looking at your pictures one can say you had a spiritual holiday as well and a journey as well. I know for me before I go on holiday my mind seems to go into overdrive but when I am amongst nature my thoughts percolate and I have spiritual epiphanies. Your allotment makes me dizzy and tired with all the work you put in there. Bringing my mothers yard up to par as my siblings have neglected the property. My mama is happy to see someone taking an interest her property. I admire your hard work with your allotments. I know it is hard work but at the end of it all you receive spiritual gifts.

Yes it was a wonderful holiday with places not visited before, and you understand what a garden and allotment take Joseph, I hope you are now helping bring your Mother’s garden into shape.. No easy task I know if it has been neglected.. Nature brings her own rewards, like yesterday morning it was misty and dew had created dew drops on a plant, I bent down on my knees with my phone camera, and tried to capture the rainbows I saw in the drops, Alas though they didnt show on the photo what I saw.. Magical diamonds of colour.. So Nature’s gifts are Spiritual Gifts, that you and I are blessed with..
Many thanks Joseph and don’t go working too hard either. 😉

I have been working on my mom’s garden and one of my friends that came for a visit told me she knew I was home. I asked her why and she said that the gardens are starting to look not as neglected. She couldn’t put words to what she was seeing. It is like you creating magic in your allotment and home garden. People recognize that touch in feelings and not in words. That is kool when you see rainbows in drops. Big smile as I have seen those as well. I have just planted the veggoe gardem/ Tomatoes , herbs, cucumber, squash, pumpkin, sage, chives. sage,. Still have to pick up some lavender and rosemary. I put in 24 tomatoe plants. I think that was enough.

You should have more than enough in 24 plants in tomatoes, 🙂 Also two types of cucumber, the normal ones and a lemon round one, I have not tried before, so should be interesting!. I took some pictures of our plants the other day and hope to be putting a Garden post together shortly..

And it is amazing how people notice the care and the love that goes into a garden.. We had many people stop to admire our begonias in pots on our front the other year.
Herbs I love, and I too have mint in the allotment ( not one for the garden unless you have in pots as it spreads all over ) . We have rosemary, oregano, and thyme in a pot at home.. Enjoy your Garden, sounds like you are getting it ship-shape. 🙂 and thriving again.

Yes there is the love of gardening for my mother as I want her to have good memories into her consciousness before she passes. When I first arrived she seemed depressed and not talkative. I would ask her questions of her childhood living on a farm. She wasn’t talking much but she did talk a bit. Now I have opened Pandora’s box where she is impeding me and my writing. She has an uncanny ability of getting in my way or she starts talking incessantly when I begin to write. From not laughing or chuckling now for the first time she does belly laughs which is nice to see.

You see Joseph, your healing touch reaches out, Laughter is a wonderful healing tool.. And who knows, some of her memories and thoughts may well be written down, for use at some other time..
I wish I had written down my Aunts memories of when my father was a child and the family history.. Now when I need to ask there is no one left who can let me know, I have only one elderly Uncle left out of my fathers large family, and he is very ill.
So enjoy the laughter… And I am sure your words will find their way to the page.. ❤ Hugs

I’m so glad you enjoyed your vacation. It always takes me a bit to transition back to routine. And I love how you go with the flow – working in the garden, sleeping, staring into space as needed. This encourages me. I find that as I get older my energy fluctuates a great deal. Working outside can get me energized to the point that I don’t want to stop. Other times, I love to sleep. Take all the time you need for you, dear Sue. ❤

I was in my garden this morning and tied to the sewing machine all evening.Nothing goes as easy as one would like. The weeds have been very prolific this year and are taking more energy than I have right now. I too am going with the flow and making no apologies for it. Rest is essential especially after all the backbreaking work. Most of us need a vacation after our vacation because we put so much energy into it. Rest and do what you need to do as I will also be doing the same. A lot has been let go of for now. I’ll catch up too as soon as I can but we both need to take care of priorities. Most of the bloggers who have gardens understand this slow down in the spring and summer. Enjoy your rest and we will see you soon. Giant hugs and love,
    M

Welcome back Sue, you have been missed, I think everyone appreciates a break when returning from a holiday, just to normalize our routine and get back into sequence, looking at your allotment I think that is a massive amount of normalizing you have to undertake. But at the end of the day it is worth it Sue, even for followers who only get to see pictures of the results of your labours.
    Cheers.

Working in the garden – working with the hands – is a beautiful thing, along with the meditation and centering. Wow!! Those weeds really took off while you were away Sue!! Scotland looks beautiful, I’m sure it did you the world of good 🙂 Been a bit poor on the blog visiting front myself just recently, today I have the Sunday Headache bursting my skull bone again 😉 – annoying when today should be perfect blog visiting day, and also, I am on the way to Mars and it takes longer for W.P notifications to reach me all the way out here! There’s 1000’s of us on InSight so it’s pretty crowded lol. Decided to pass some time shopping on Amazon for NASA stuff…and then discovered the European Space Station shop too….spent the last week and a bit alternating between ordering, returning too large…too small…faulty…goods lol and being hopelessly distracted roaming the two sites for more goodies, leading to zero blog visiting or anything else constructive!! Now waiting for 1 replacement from NASA and a refund or exchange from European Space Agency! Happy days….plenty of time for blog visiting though!! xx

Indeed dear Sue vacations are such a wonderful paradox, it lifts us to the heaven when we are planning and venturing into our vacation journey but at the time of ending the journey and getting back to life’s routine, never easy and to the residing place to stitching the left out and pending works never easy and it is all in our mind, though the body gets rejuvenated and we are refreshed and we are filled with vigor and vitality to face the work and workings in our daily life.

I can see through the beautiful pictures of the landscape of Scotland and the beauty and bounty around those lovely lovey places and how much you have allowed yourself joyfully indulged in the purity and pristine of those immersing nature. Our mind wants more and more of such joyful moments in the glory of nature and nurturing our senses and that’s what makes us holistically happy and harmonious with our own self. The symphony of life comes with the harmony we establishes with the nature and so much to observe and absorb from the nature just by being there and being connected and conversing with the nature, talking through our eyes and smelling the essence of freshness that keeps emanating from the rawness and rustic elements embedded deep within the body of nature.

Yes the beautiful garden of yours needs a make over, change of season make a call on us and that needs the full attention of yours and your recouped energy can do that magical work and for that you need the rest, good amount of rest and getting the mind back to work from vacation, I know never easy to get back to work after vacation and many times I have cancelled the vacation just to avoid the challenge of getting back to routines. It may sound weird. Knowing well about your energy and commitment for everything you will be back with multiple sources of vigor and we enjoy that animated debate and discussion with all your enlightenment and enriching thoughts that has its eternally sourcing sitting comfortably in your wonderful mind…

Have a wonderful week ahead and take care dear Sue.

You are so right Nihar, our minds DO want more of those tranquil moments my friend. Nature always beckons me, and I always respond to her call.
The allotment and my home garden are now getting into shape, and I have taken each day just a little time in blog land as I responded and visited back blogs etc..
Today I am delighted to say its been my pleasure to visit your blog and I loved your post topic, as you will have seen by my response.

I know what a busy person you are, but really you must never cancel a vacation… We all of us need space to relax and enjoy time to clear our minds from the complexities we now put upon them.. We take on too many worries and distractions and concerns which when we step back are for the most part Trivia in their importance..

We can survive on so much less, yet we pile ourselves up with much unwanted pressures in our modern day existence. Take blog land for instance, and how I worry about letting people down by not visiting.. When really we are letting ourselves down by not taking time out to be ourselves..

Many thanks again Nihar,, I so enjoy our exchanges and conversations, and often one topic will always lead us to another..

Make time for yourself and your family over the weekend my friend.. And Enjoy your ‘ Imagination Time’ within our ‘Digital Age’ my friend..

Blessings and Regards.. Sue 🙂 💙

I agree Dear Sue, vacation are such an important part of today’s hectic life and we need those relaxed moments to rejuvenate ourselves…just doing our routines and being mechanical in our working we loose our creativity and vitality which are such an essential part of our meaningful existence.
The more we analyse this materialistic world, the more we realize the lesser it is better and peace and harmony comes with being purposefully engaged with nature and subtly nurturing our senses and being mindful of things which are required and making way for things that are not so essential. For almost everything we take the undue pressure on us, yes, visiting and replying in our blog to meeting our own work targets and there is deadline we have set for various things and we feel caught in that self imposed juggernaut.
Nothing can be more refreshing than being in the glory of garden where we can seed our ideas and shade our stress, and just being deeply involved with the plants and the plantation we keep doing season after season sets our senses and body in perfect sync with the world around us…the blossoming of flowers and the growing of new plants, and seeing the vibrancy makes us more joyful and cheerful in our life.

Thanks for such wonderful thoughts on the topic of Renaissance and so much we can discuss on that subject and how certain period in our history though began 700 years back has so much relevance today…
Yes dear Sue will take shorter breaks instead of waiting for the big one and weekends are the best time to plan such break with the nature…we all love our imagination time and we want to extract the nuggets of wisdom hidden in treasure troves of house of imagination.
        Take Care!!!

Another wonderful response Nihar, and yes you are right, Nothing more refreshing than being in the creative process of growing a garden..
And happy to hear you will take short breaks too.. Life is too short not to stop and enjoy some quality relaxation .. And I know How much you too enjoy your walks etc.
Take care Nihar.. until next time.. 🙂

I am always inspired by you Dear Sue and I keep looking for opportunities, and how to steal time for a break that are so essential for our creative activities.
I agree life is such a short journey when we look at the history and the world at large and so much to see and do, and we have such short duration and we keep fighting in that truncated space of living.
Yes, there has been a break on the walk and that’s not the kind of break we need…
You too take care and thanks so much.

Oh yes that is one thing about vacations …. the after vacation stress. Your pictures of Scotland are gorgeous, Sue! Weeds … oh yes know all about those! And as you said, with age, things just become more challenging to do, so pacing and slowing down is essential. I too have just pulled out my lounge chair to doze off while listening to the delightful bird song around me. This physical body lets me know when to stop, yet there are times I keep pushing through. I just have to. If I learn how to pace myself I can still do everything I do. I even had to use the Tens Unit, something I have not done in years. I wish you all the very best on your gardens, from one who really does know how taxing yet how rewarding they are. BIG (((HUGS))) and much Love to you! 💖💖💖

Welcome back, Sue. Happy to know that you had a very enjoyable trip to Scotland. I can imagine how difficult it is to get back to the routine after a holiday, especially when your garden is calling for attention. The greenery around you is so soothing to the eyes. Take your time, and reply only after you feel sufficiently rested and settled back into your normal routine. Love and Regards, Somali

I’m actually feeling jealous as I read your post as you explain you need to go with the flow, to meditate, to rest. And then I’m thinking-why can’t I do the same? We all should learn to go with the flow. 💙

I saw part of myself in the previous post I read and in this one. What a relief to see that I am not the only one … You’ll see what I mean in my next post,if I ever manage to make a start …

Following the flow of the prolific bloggers can be maddening unless they make it for a living … I prefer like you to follow the flow of my body’s 4 humors. You know them from the four bodily humors of the Shakespearean cosmology, inherited from the ancient Greek philosophers Aristotle, Hippocrates, and Galen.

Lovely the forceful flow of the river in your image, interesting your garden photos.
I am so glad you had some rest in Bonny Scotland 🙂 Happy weekend, dear friend Sue ❤ xxx

Scotland is a great place to relax and find the flow ~ although I’ve only been there once 🙂 Sometimes getting back into the flow is difficult, which makes taking advantage of those ‘Now Moments’ so important. Wishing you well Sue.

Great to know that you have enjoyed your vacation in Scotland like every year. Such holidays rejuvenate our mind and body. The garden looks green as if the trees and even the weeds are aware of your happy days. I believe Nature does reflect our feelings at times. Maybe just my imagination, but I love to think in this way… 🙂

Have a great weekend (though I think it’s still Thursday in your place) ❤

I know all too well how little time it takes for those weeds to overgrow in the garden. However, it’s true Sue that you need to honour your body and take it easy, as you said, go with the flow. Everything happens and gets cleared up in its own time.
I hope you’ve managed to catch up on that gardening and you’re feeling rested.
Love your writing. You always make me ponder. Just beautiful xo 🌹🙂

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
