We often forget the wonderful gifts each of us have and so this post is to remind us of our wonderful gifts most of us here use every day and so take for granted,
The gift of our sight.
Below is a beautiful view of the sun through the clouds. My good friend Svein from Norway who takes amazing photo’s gifted me this image a few weeks ago. His beautiful photo’s of Norway can be found at his Blog See Norway
Time has been short to be creative this week on my blog. The poem below I wrote it originally back in 2008. So I thought I would team up the photo and my poem
I am eternally grateful for the gifts given and I thank you All for sharing them with me.
Dark Sunrise.
Here I am at the morning rise
Where all I hear is the bird call cries.
Alone I sit and wait for the day
As I listen for you to come my way.
I feel the grass beneath my feet
As yet another day I greet.
The beats of wings I know fly by
As tears escapes away from eyes.
I smell the fragrance of the flowers
As I while away the hours
The coolness of the clouds above
The breath of wind as soft as doves.
The ruffles of my gown so blow
As in my darkness I do go.
For all of you can see this land
But in my eyes all is bland.
The beauty that you see each day
Don’t take for granted this I say.
For some are born in darkened rooms
And all we see is black and gloom.
But I see all in my own way
Although for me it’s dark in day
I sense the world through feel and touch
And fragrance too it means so much
My Dog to guide, my eyes to me
Right now he’s gone to play you see.
His dedication will not cease.
My Inner vision, I am at peace
Sunrise for me maybe dark
But I know your soul, I feel your heart
So judge ye not those like me
My inward sight is my true key.
No different from you am I
Just because I see no sky
And yet I feel you turn away
For I was born ‘Blind’ this way

I love your poem, Sue. My sister and I were talking about my struggle with sight and she suggested that since my eyes didn’t work all that well, I sensed people better than many. Interesting that I made a visit to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Center several months ago with the senior center but never got the chance to blog about it. I am ever so grateful to not need one. GRATITUDE in capital letters. 6 years is a long time to blog almost every day. Congratulations.

Thank you Marlene, and I am so pleased you do not need a guide dog either my friend.. You do not realise how many things we take for granted until we no longer have them..
And thank you, I doubt I could do a post every day but once a week I guess is an on average for me.. 🙂 Maybe twice if I am feeling creative 🙂 Love to you my friend xx ❤

This helps me realize that while the clarity of my physical vision declines with age, my spiritual vision and other senses could very well improve. Plus I can still see all the marvelous colors just fine and appreciate them more as time moves along. I love all the horizontal lines of light in the photo.

Gratitude is such a beautiful word Sue, many thanks for the reminder. We have a one sentence prayer in our language, which spontaneously comes to mind each time I see any unpleasant sight. It goes like this…’waheguru tera shukar hai’ which means ‘God, thank you.’
I love this poem as it captures the perspective of a sightless so well! The inward eye is much more sensitive, their imagination must be much more colourful than the real world. Such a vision is blessed! Thanks for sharing. Love and hugs 🙂

Loved that saying ’waheguru tera shukar hai’ I am often saying thank you to myself for the simple things.. Such as food we grow, a sunny day, or even a rainy one.. 🙂
Our inward eyes are never still, and I and grateful also for my imagination without whom my creativity would sadly be lacking.. 🙂
Love right back Balroop xxx

Wise words Sue, truely as you say it happens more than often, only in moments of reflection and / or of a happening we realize what we have that is priceless and vulnerable, at any time this God given grace can be taken from us … wether cos of sickness or accident / misshap. I once posted on my blog … You don’t know what you have until you don’t have it anymore.

That saying is so true Luigi, yes in any given moment our circumstances can change within the blink of an eye..
And showing gratitude for what we have been given reminds us how fortunate we are when we look around the world at others and their plights..
Many thanks for reading and your kind thoughts my friend

Yes I too have shed many a tear Luigi, but also we must remember this.. Each of us have chosen our given pathways here on Earth.. As hard as that is for us to understand that anyone would choose so much suffering in one life time.. But we do not see the whole of life and its creation.. We only see it through our perceptions..
What always gets to me is when I see young children suffering so and I often question deep inside and do battle within my self over this..
Life is a mixture of balancing out, which is now having to be condensed into experience as Karma plays out even faster.
Perhaps you may have noted how it seems things that go around come around ever quicker as karma plays its part.
I feel Compassion is in need of being generated as well as tolerance .
Which is why we see escalation’s of tragedies. We are being asked to unite our differences, be them be of colour, race or creed.
The influx of refugees are also opening up hearts and I hope we can see our way forward to one day becoming a world where we are all united as the Hopi Native Indians prophesied, Where we would all be Rainbow Warriors..
Thank you for your heartfelt thoughts Luigi.. Sending Blessings to you and yours

I completely agree with you my dear Sue … in everything you have mentioned, I observe that we humans are pittyfull … I myself try to make a difference… but see how difficult it is… I regularly donate to charities… so much ( and still a drop in the oceans) that my wife is worried. I personally would like to adopt a child at distance ( pate?) But the responsibility is huge if one takes it seriously! My dear wife works her but… off around the clock and has raised 5 children successfully 3 of mine and 2 day care, I cannot allow myself that without her consent! But it would have been the best prerogative. You are a great person and a huge confort. I admire you. Yours sincerely.

You both sound a very caring couple Luigi, and I too donate, The Red Cross and Save the Children are my two charities.. But no amount of donating is going to change these war zones or the horrors of them.. Only help in the relief work..
Which is why if we want to change the world, we have to start with ourselves and learn to care, and be kinder to one another.. Sending LOVE, Compassion and Beginning to see we need to unify together to change our world..
Thank you greatly for the input you have given here.. I appreciate your comments greatly

You are ever so thoughtful regarding others, my friend, and that you think of others the way you do makes me filled with admiration. I do not have good eyesight myself (have worn trifocals for years and now have beginnings of cataracts). Was dismayed to find I could not read the eye chart with my glasses, at a recent appointment, with my right eye but with glasses I’m okay. I so treasure my eyes and have worn glasses since age 10 and can’t do without them. To not see all the beauty of life every day…well, I cannot even imagine. Like you I draw, paint, write and read. So important. To have never seen…Helen Keller is someone I have always admired for she approached life with such tenacity and determination. Such a wonderful post here. I’ve been working on an art piece so haven’t been writing for awhile but am thinking of something today. Be well. xoxo

And those who cope with little or no sight have my upmost admiration.. My grandmother upon my fathers side of the family lost her sight in her last few years and I have never forgotten how precious is the gift of sight. Happy Anniversary Sue, 6 years is long time 🙂 I have only been her around 3,5 years now.
Beautiful photo from the beautiful Norway 🙂
One week ago I visited my doctor, as demanded emergency check of my eyes, as they thought I was going to be blinded. This was not the case, for what I feel very grateful, but I had time to think about, how it could be, if all were so bad.
You are right, we do often take much for granted, which it is not.

What a stunning photo. When I think of how hard it would be to capture that in words, I’m so grateful that I can see it and appreciate it. 🙂

A great piece of writing Sue, more poignant for me as it brings back memory’s of the old days as a radio broadcaster for the blind, companionship and voices in the dark, are comfort through the eyes of those who see.

Sue this is a wonderful poem , it makes you stop and think. We have a retired guide dog who we exercises for ‘it’s owner until she had to give her up due to not being able to walk with a dog anymore. We have seen the dog at work and now retired and understand the beauty of her nature.xxx

Awww, yes these guide dogs do amazing work, I bet she really missed her companion, for they are not only working dogs, but are best friends also. Many thanks Willow for also taking the time to return my visit, I really appreciate that you dropped by. Thank you ❤ Sue

Sue, (I’m not stalking you!) 🙂 , but we were talking about suffering and why we as humans suffer so, and I lightheartedly asked you if you could consult your Guide (interesting this is a post about sight and guide dogs!), and this morning I SEE the answer to my question in your reply on October 3 to LMB (Luigi). I’m not sure how I got to this post but I think I might have been GUIDED. Love, Marie xxx

Haha…. BIG SMILES here Marie.. Spirit work in mysterious ways I have always found to get us to SEE the answers they want us to. And I LOVE it when these type of things happen, I call them sychronisities For they are definitely synchronized and orchestrated 🙂 BRILLIANT!
