Harvest time is upon us as we reap from our gardens what we have sown. It’s wonderful to see something that you planted from a tiny seed that grows and matures to a full-grown crop.
And haven’t you ever just stopped to think for a moment about those seeds. Just how miraculous they are. Each seed so tiny, yet they know exactly how to grow. Each tiny cell splitting off to become a leaf, petal or fruit. Just as our human cells know which cells form toes and teeth.
Each plant perhaps relying on natures helping hand as the bees pollinate creating new seeds for next year’s seasons
I have so enjoyed this Summer. It started out life here in the UK as being one of the wettest June’s for a long while. It was very cool to start with. Yet despite the cold start Nature catches up. And even though our sweetcorn took 3 attempts to sow this year it too caught up and now we are harvesting the ripe corn cobs
Life is a little like planting. We get to harvest what we have sown.
I came across a wonderful post from Erika today whose own post was about the seeds we sow in Life.. in her post here entitled The Challenge of Growth
How true too about those seeds as Erika describes them to break down and collapse before they open and bring forth their new growth. I invite you to go read her excellent thoughts on how we ourselves grow through our challenges.
As I view the world today I see many of our old ways now collapsing, they have to if we are to change.
Everything comes in cycles, Day follows Night, Seasons Change. We look back through history and see how our world has gone through its different ages. It seems we are now in the technological age. One at the moment I seem to in conflict with, big smiles as it seems me and technology are not getting on as well of late.
Not everything in our garden’s can be rosy all the time and in full bloom. But with Love and attention to what is important in our lives as we give our attention to the things which matter. We then reap that which we sow
I ask myself why is that me and techology seem in conflict right now – Could it be the Universe is wanting my attention elsewhere? I have got much thinking to do at the moment and choices to make. But I know what ever choice I make, it will be Ok, for there are no right or wrong roads, for all roads lead us to our destinations. It’s just sometimes we can detour off the path and for some they can become lost amid the jungle of choices that in this digital age can distract us from the true seeds we need to sow. Which often are the most basic.
To Care and Share.
We may have forgotten some of the things that really matter in our lives. As the distractions of this material world have never been greater as they grab our attention and steel our energies and lower our vibrations.
I invite all of you who may be feeling of a low ebb and stressed out with the world right now to reconnect with your inner seed. The one that beats life into you day in and day out. Go into the HEART of Nature and start to listen to your own Heart.
It is patiently waiting for you to understand that all you need do for it to grow and expand to the Light, is for you to nurture it with the best nutrient ever given to man.
LOVE!
Sending you huge armfuls of flowers filled with love and gratitude..
~Sue~

That is my hubbys job.. You wait until the first frost has blackened the tops and the leaves.. Cut off the stems leaving a few inches of the stalks. You then dig up the tubas, carefully so they are in tact. My hubby then puts them upside down so the stems are at the bottom.. This allows the sap to drain out as they dry out and not get the tubas mouldy.. When they are air dried enough my hubby then covers them in hessian sacking or you could use newspaper, but make sure the tubas are dry as the paper could get soggy and send the tubas mouldy and they can rot. We leave in the shed in trays covered so they are frost free.. Then bring them out in spring, We always add good compost beneath them. This year we had spread lots of manure over winter where we planted so the soil was quite rich.. We put a steak where we plant them so we know where the tender shoots are to appear. And just make sure you water regular.. And hey presto! 🙂 Hope that helps if you want to over winter any 🙂 We do the same with the Begonia’s too.. But plant in tubs and compost in Spring and leave them in the green house until we know there will be not frost before we put outside. 🙂

Sue, your garden is lovely and I especially love the Dahlias. I tried to grow them but they didn’t come back from last year. Will have to try something different. It’s like Einstein said. “Either nothing is a miracle or everything is”. Everything is designed to grow in it’s own perfect or imperfect way and that includes us. Some years we grow better than others. I love your analogy. It was an odd summer in so many ways. June here was hotter than ever but August was fall like. ??? We just roll with it and make our adjustments. I’m ready for the rest of winter though. I will miss the daylight mostly. I tend to be solar powered. 🙂 Hugs and have a wonderfilled week ahead.

if the ground was too cold from frost Marlene then the tubas will rot.. We lift them where we live as the ground gets too cold.. Yet in some parts of the UK they can be find left in the ground.. If you put some mulch perhaps over the tops when they die down that may protect them to stop you digging up .. as its not a job I do, I leave this to my hubby who has become expert at drying them out and covering them in the shed to save the tubas for next year.. Some of the
are now quite old.. All though we have through the years still lost tubas which have gone mouldy..
Yes we just have to roll with the weather that is true.. The nights here too drawing in very fast now.. And yes the Sun energises us.. In the winter have you tried taking extra Vit D tablets that helps.. 🙂

Yes a seed becomes a flower.. And we must nurture the children of the world.. So vulnerable are they to influences and their environment around them.. They can either flourish or whither.. We have a great responsibility to them to nurture their welfare in todays world of technological influences.. Which to my mind while appearing to create a genius who can use a computer or tablet, can also control a young mind to be addicted to games in like a zombie to the point they spend far too much time indoors and not connecting to nature and fresh air.
Love and Hugs dear MJ and thank you.. Lovely to see you

What a great show of love and pride that comes with the work and effort you give to your garden, rewarded with the riches you show here on your blog. The key to life you mention here, “with Love and attention to what is important in our lives as we give our attention to the things which matter…” and it seems when there is this focus on a part of your life, you are rewarded with blossoms. Thank you Randall.. we are indeed lucky to be rewarded with such fruits of our labours.. Gardening at times can be hard work, but its never a real chore, it is always a pleasure.. And a place I can lose myself in.. My rewards often are in the smallest things such as watching how the Bees have benefitted from the Dahlias and my reward this year is that the caterpillars have not appeared in droves to munch their way through my cabbages :-).. Though I will be missing the Butterflies next year.. Its a worry this year as not as many butterflies were around to lay their eggs.. All is so carefully balanced within Nature.. Which is why we grow some crops for us, some to give away and some which we know will get devoured by them. 🙂 Many thanks Randall you too enjoy your week ❤

Ahh, harvest time, one of my favorite times of the year. You have much more to harvest then we. Your gardens are massive, Sue, and I just LOVE the pictures of them. There have been so many challenges and changes of late which I pray with all I AM will lead us to this New World I have dreamed of for so long. Take care of yourself, especially your back with all the bending and lifting. As for your techo problems, those too will even out, you’ll see. Take it from me the minute you stop trying to figure things out, things will somehow just “come” to you and you’ll get the understanding. When we try so hard and try to force, of course, it does not happen. I’m giggling as I write that because I stand guilty as charged for still doing what I know doesn’t work. 🙂 Much Love to you, dear friend!!! ❤

Yes it is a large plot of land and this year it has taken more effort to maintain.. The muscles do protest more 🙂 .. And you are right Amy if we allow all things to flow they find their natural paths and all will clear and work out just as it is meant to.. And yes we can be the worlds worst at taking our own advice .. Giggling here too xxx Love and hugs dear Amy ❤

Does it not feel so good to be open enough to be honest with one another? That is what is so special about those of us who have walked a certain road and can admit, oh yeah, I may know all this wisdom, and yes I have lived it, but to abide by it all the time … Well, that’s another matter totally. You are just so cute and darling. One of the most endearing things for me is to have conversations with those who do not play games, who are open and honest, and are very very human. Much Love to you, Sue!! ❤

Yes Amy we learn through LIVING LIFE.. And that is the best experience we could possibly have. We climb up and over our struggles and gain strength of character along the journey. And we are not afraid to tell it like it is or profess to be something we are not.. 🙂 Mega Hugs dear Amy ❤ ❤

You have a beautiful garden. And I definitely agree with your premise. The littlest things in nature are the most fascinating and motivating.
Have you ever heard of the phrase, ” As above, so below”. Im a far believer in that phrase.

Hello Vinny and welcome, Yes I have heard of this phrase. What the world is also is a reflection of who we are.. If we want the world to change then we are the ones who have to be prepared to change..
🙂
🙂 We can not expect Peace if we are the ones who are often in judgement, angry, greedy and intolerant.. If we want outward Peace, we first have to cultivate it within our own hearts and start planting the seeds of truth, love, tolerance and Peace..
Many thanks Vinny for your most welcome visit.. There are many facets to our nature, and within all of us I believe we have many sides of self yet to uncover.. I like the name of your website.. 🙂
It may be time that our Earth is once again in the process of creating many more Diamonds out of those People who at the moment have lost their shine.. Is a diamond not made of extremes amount of pressure? 🙂 .. Seems that this is the only way Humans will learn how precious Life really is.. Geologists are still guessing how diamonds formed in the Earth from 1 billion to 3 billion years ago.. How long have Humans been on Earth? is a debateable question.. But we can be sure it has only taken us a couple of hundred years to mess it up..
Nature is the barometer of how we are doing, and I think she is asking us to take notice of those Little things that count.. For we are ALL ONE, each reliant upon the other..
Thank you kindly Vinny for your kind complement of the allotment garden.. And may we all notice those little things which make a huge difference.. 🙂 Blessings to you and yours..
Sue

Wow! What a wonderful harvest! Personally I seem to be harvesting Wood Pigeons 😉 I put food out on the bird table once when I moved in and now they come flying in every time I go outside in the garden! They’re so big they are the size of the bird table and guard it fiercely even when there’s no food out…they make it very clear they’d like there to be food there – pronto, too! In fact I’d say the bird table has turned into a Pokemon-GO gym! Guarded by “wild pidgey’s!!” It’s very interesting harvesting Wood Pigeons! xx

Yes Pigeons can over take and be a nuisance to smaller birds wanting to feed.. We had a pair of them regulars you could set your clock by them. Then they stopped coming, I think a neighbours cat may have scarred them off or they didn’t like the way my hubby would always hang the feeders so as they couldn’t get to it.. He has a long memory of his cabbages being decimated by pigeons LOL.. I would tell him not to be so mean.. as he would hang them so they couldn’t get to the suet sticks .. 🙂
But we always sprinkled some of the corn seed on the lawn, which they could easily get to and they mop up after the birds from the feeders.. 🙂 we are not that cruel LOL 😉 Good luck with your super pigeons, Haha you made me smile Wolfie xxx

These wood pigeons are quite sure they own the bird table! Rooks and Ravens line the fence taking it in turns to challenge wood pidgey who defends his table to the bitter end with puffed up chest and fearsome pecks in the challengers face! Doesn’t worry the blue tits who take advantage of the bird feeders underneath 😉 Or the pair of Robins who land on the grass below 😁 Very noisy cooing from big fat wood pidgey though!! xx
