Sacred Jewels

Rainbow Angel.. Some of my more abstract art

Sacred Jewels

Tell me as I sit here and ponder life’s rules

What is the most sacred of precious jewels?

Which gem of green, yellow and red?

Would you chose to adorn your head

 diamond-heart

Would it be Ruby- rich and deep?

Or maybe its Topaz yellow you seek

Emeralds and diamonds sparkling lure

Or could it be gold of carat pure

 diamond-heart

Treasures of wealth mankind doth chase

Trampling over each other –a greedy race

To line one’s pocket with all his fill

He borrows and steals and some even kill

 diamond-heart

All of the plunder of Earthly Treasure

So some can sit and lap up their pleasure

Tell me as I sit here and ponder life’s rules

What is the most sacred of precious jewels?

 diamond-heart

Could it be the Cry of a new babe born?

Or maybe it’s the sunrise of tomorrows new dawn

What if the rules were about to be re-written

Whereby all the things man thought important in life

Were swept aside,

Gone

What Strife!

 diamond-heart

What if tomorrow all you had were gone?

Tell me, how would you feel?

What’s to be done?

I will show you how that must feel

Come with me to the African Fields!!

 diamond-heart

So tell me as you ponder life’s rules

What is the most sacred of precious jewels?

The most sacred of precious jewels doesn’t come from above,
It comes from within, it comes from love.
We humans bask in it, like a frog on a warm log,
Uncondional love, the sacred gift of the dog.

Beautifully done. Too many things people deem precious are just things that can be replaced. The things to hold dearest and most precious are the one that cannot.

This is a beautifully written poem, Sue. I loved it. I’ve often thought about what it would be like to lose everything. If you have love and your health, you start again but what are we starting for? It’s a thought we should all explore in depth. Loved the Rainbow Angel too.

Yes very true Marlene… We work hard for the betterment of family life.. Yet so often family life is sacrificed as parents work and work to accumulate ‘Things’ which mean nothing if you have no family ..
I feel its time to get off the treadmill if you can and take stock of life and what is really important..
Family, Health, and enjoying Life together.. As we grow that little bit older.. We suddenly see Time slips ever faster through the hour glass.. 🙂
Time to smell the roses.. And enjoy our loved ones and our good earth. A story for another post me thinks lol .Love and Hugs your way Marlene xxx

Beautifully written Sue. I have no doubt that a trip to those fields would crumble the hardest heart. it may not show on the outside, but inside those hard shells they would be blocking like crazy, trying to understand those feelings that have been locked away forever.
Thank you for sharing, the only jewel that does have worth is the one we wear inside 🙂

Yes agreed dear Mark.. So many do not see the other side of the coin… and if they do, they turn a blind eye… How much different if we were the ones who had nothing.. and had to walk miles to find water. and had no crops, no food and found our children and ourselves starving to death..
We who have so much who still want more.. Yet those in those fields who have nothing simply want to live. .. Thank you for seeing the whole message of my poem Mark.. Love and Blessings .. Sue x

It is not here nor there. It can not be seen, tasted, smelled, or touched. (some say it can) It is something that has solicited countless words and yet developed little understanding. It is called by many names, but ‘love’ is often used.
Wonderful words to open the heart and mind. Eddie

Lovely poem, Sue. It’s true that so much pain is reaped, or inflicted on others, by those humans who chase after material jewels, when (for me at least) the “most sacred of precious jewels” is referred to by many spiritual traditions and it is the jewel in the heart – the bliss that resides at the core of our being. The jewel in the heart is our true identity; it links us all together in one common energetic existence, so – ironically, perhaps – when we are in touch with the “sacred jewel” we are also in closer resonance with all aspects of the One Life and, therefore, also with those humans who wreak havoc in their lust for material jewels 😉 Love and blessings, Sam 🙂

Thank you Sue for reminding us to reassess our values.
Meditate, ponder, pray we know at the end of the day.
Life’s rules are, you can’t take it with you, so why grasp and cling?
Life’s jewels are appreciation, gratitude, love and compassion.
There is a free and plentiful treasure chest provided and after some thought my conclusion is. Among the greatest jewels are caring and sharing. _/\_

This makes me think of a Native American saying, “Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize that we cannot eat money.” I believe it’s a Cree proverb.
Anyways, I think about this all the time: finding that balance between having enough and too much, and living in a society that values materialism and status over wisdom and “not keeping up with the Joneses.” And it’s easy to fall into that trap – especially for people who have not learned to question and think, but follow and remain in the dark about their own actions.
    Wonderful post, sweet Sue!

Hi Cyndi.. Yes I have used this Quote more than once my self.. it always hits the spot with me.. So true..
While we live in a material world.. we are experiencing material weatlh.. But the balance comes in understanding the need to share that which we have with those who have not the same fortune as ourselves.. I hope to show this later with another post on the benifits of Giving.. 🙂

Someone suggested I download the Chrome browser and ever since, it’s been clear sailing. (I hope I didn’t jinx it, lol). So if you haven’t already, or find those problems back, just download Chrome. I think it’s more compatible with wordpress. 🙂 xoxo

Wow, good old Vista. I’ve had everyone since XP and skipped Vista because I heard when it came out, people had many problems with it. Did you check if you can download Windows 7 from the internet? That was the best.
I have two computers on Windows 8.1, which at first I hated, now I love it. And then Windows 10 came along late last year. I read about oodles of people, many writers, who downloaded it free (it’s offered as a free download) and it screwed up their computers and had to repair. Then I got a new small laptop for Christmas which came with Windows 10, I wasn’t happy about it, but at least it came with the system on it so I didn’t have to go through wonky downloads. I’m pretty used to it now, but much prefer 8.1. Just some food for your future considerations. 🙂

    The ending…I love it:

What is the most sacred of precious jewels?

What’s sacred and precious is mother-nature. Her tress, plants, animals, the air we breath. That is life, that is the most beautiful thing mother-shelf has given us as a pure treasure of life. 🙂

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
