Nature does Her Thing.

“What a joy it is to feel the soft, springy earth under my feet once more,
to follow grassy roads that lead to ferny brooks
where I can bathe my fingers in a cataract of rippling notes,
or to clamber over a stone wall into green fields that
tumble and roll and climb in riotous gladness! “

 Helen Keller

Remember last Autumn when the old compost heap on the allotment looked like this?

At the Back of the shed the old rubbish heap is going to be levelled. This is where we intend to grow our Butternut squash next year. As the allotment next to us just put his squash on old soil and left them.. They were 3 sizes bigger than ours.. So here they will have room to spread out to their hearts content :-)

Then Hubby got to work and started to dig. First digging the rectangle bed out which I was going to set flowers in and my apple trees in.

Dug over Rubbish heap

He then dug out the compost heap and levelled it  using the old stone boarders from our front garden.

If I had wanted these nasturtiums to grow through the top of this broken old fire onion chimney they most likely wouldn’t have.. But just look at the transformation of the old compost heap..  You now see the new  overflowing compost heap contained behind the abundant Squashes and Courgettes.

Well now it looks like this.

Some times you just have to let Nature do her Thing.

Some times you just have to let Nature do her Thing.

Flower bed2

This is the flower bed to the left which you saw in the strip of earth in the top photo

All the above flowers are within that bed.

Along with these

Not to mention the sweetpeas we have had in abundance

Sweetpeas Old fashioned mix just love the way the light filters through the petals and the fragrance of these are wonderful

Enjoy all that Nature offers you.

Look after and care for each other.

And remember the Life Force that runs through All things..

Love and Blessings for a Wonderful Week

Wow, thank you so much for sharing dear Sue, what beautiful flowers! 🙂 You are so blessed with your garden. Many of those are also very helpful as flower essences, for example Nasturtium brings back the joy of a child, and Sweet Pea helps you to feel at home on Earth (for people who find it hard to put down roots and find their place in the world). Autumn is my favourite season, it brings the full bounty of the earth.

    Have a wonderful week! ❤

    Hugs,

Dear Zarah, thank you for bringing me those wonderful snippets of information about the flowers.. I used to do flower readings at one time.. I do not know if you have heard of that.. I will explain if you wish..
But I had not heard that about the Sweetpea.. It certainly brings comfort with its fragrances… And yes Autumn is a wonderful time of year as Nature gives us her bounties 🙂 ..
You too enjoy the rest of your week.. Love Sue ❤

Awww Trini.. thank you .. I am so pleased you enjoyed the flowers.. 🙂 I am enjoying them in my hearth at the moment… I collected some large blooms before we had some heavy downpours of rain last evening.. It was torrential for a time and would have battered many.. So my room is filled with fragrance and colour.. And your comment also added beauty to my evening as I see the many new beautiful additions you have added to your comment to bring colour with you 🙂 Thank you Trini.. Hi Sara, Lovely to see you. These are Allotment plots.. Which we rent. The Duke of Portland left a large amount of ground to be used for Allotments.. The plots on this piece of land are quite large each one is around 160ft long and about 45 ft wide.. and there are about 100 plots all together.
Families rent plots and grow veggies.. Hubby and I have had a plot since our children were small.. And we grow our own veggies etc..
This year is the first time I have grown so many flowers. And I am Happy with it as are the Bees 🙂 xxx ❤

Oh my goodness, Sue ❤ Your garden is leaping with color! I am especially drawn to the Sweetpeas, but it's difficult to say that because yes your Nasturiums, Dahlias, Snap Dragons (nose-shaped! How neat!)… They all look so good 🙂 Our Nasturiums are not the same this year. I really don't know why. Since I don't grow them in soil, there's nothing to adjust. I wonder if it's possible they are getting too much light. Usually, I do like to add them (Nasturiums) into my salads.

I'm so glad you had a peaceful weekend, and thanks for my stroll around your lovely garden. xo Ka

Yes alot of others have said the same about their sweetpeas.. I think because we planted on rich soil over the compost heap which Hubby levelled is the factor, plus we watered well.
Its also part sunny and shade behind the sheds, and I would be picking them every day and giving small bunches of them away to neighbours.. The more you cut them the more that come.. I have some in my home garden and they are in a tub.. They haven’t had as many on as the one’s in the allotment, but have produced long stems.. :-).. I love their fragrance too LG.. xxx Hugs your way.. x

Your garden is a pleasure to see.
It reminds me of my child hood before white people learned to appreciate the native plants.
All these lovely flowers and plants I see in your garden my mother grew.
Some were a real challenge but others like Sweet Peas, Snap Dragons, I used to called the Puppy Dog flowers.
The Nasturtiums are like pumpkins the way they can run wild.
That is what I love to see nature lending her creative hand.
She is not into ordered https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8ntiVQnuVo still it is all good.
As long as we sow good seed and take care of it we will benefit.

      Dear Jack..
I am happy you enjoyed our garden. And it brought back the memory of the flowers your Mother grew.
Thank you so much for that beautiful choir and slide show of Australia Jack. I think our hearts are where our homes are no matter where we live… We enjoy growing, especially the veggies.. This year I wanted more flowers so my hubby said you can use the strip down the side of the allotments for this.. Next year I hope to try something different. I hope to plant veggies and flowers in between.. I went to Chatsworth House recently in Derbyshire.. ( I grew up a few miles from there so I know it and have visited the land around it often ) But this time we paid to go into their gardens.. and such a delightful mix of flowers and veggies happily growing in their very large kitchen garden. My inspiration for this method of planting comes from seeing theirs.. So hubby is letting me have the reins for planning next years lay out.. 🙂 I am excited about that..
Many thanks Jack for your encouragement.. I hope it inspires others to nurture their gardens too _/\_ Sue

I know that Marigolds roots protect plants from nematodes but I would have to revise my knowledge on the subject as it is a long time since I had a decent size vegie garden.
I am pleased you are spending more time in the garden and other hobbies. Our blogs should take second place, as they have little impact on the major problems in the world.
I have now recovered, back doing all the physical activities. To day I can boast, I was awarded the outstanding member of the month at the World Gym.
Young fit people say I am an inspiration to them. To inspire others in worthwhile things is a noble achievement that pleases me.
            May your garden florish. _/\_

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
