A Little Imagination Costs Nothing

Its time for some light refreshment dear people, and after the depth of my last out pouring of feeling from my last post I though a nice simple little post of what I was up to with my Granddaughter this week.

We spent the morning making painting and sticking an empty tea-bag cardboard box and converting it into a small peg-doll house. For some reason after our previous  primitive attempts which my Granddaughter was well and truly in charge of construction with sticky tape in hand. Her mum said she did nothing but play with it until it disintegrated under someone’s foot!  So I thought we would make another a little more up market and more sturdy.

Mr and Mrs Peg

So in picture form, here is the unveiling of Peggy’s House Introducing Mr and Mrs Peg. Standing by their settee- Sofa.

Mr and Mrs Pegs House

Here is there Dwelling place. the front view . Complete with round window feature  upstairs.

Note the climbing roses around the front door and the special ribbon highlight on the roof. A special addition of the designer not yet 3 yrs of age.

Moving In

Here we see Mr and Mrs Peg struggling as they  lift their valuable furniture to set up home within their new build.

Below  we see the side view with the arch window feature. Seems Mr and Mrs Peg are still having problems getting their furniture through the door!

Side view of Home

Now Here Mrs Peg once inside, is showing you an unique view as this dwelling has Roof Ventilation and is heated via Solar Sunshine which flows directly from a swing roof.. Very Posh! Notice she has set the table already with four plates, Notice also the matching carpet and curtains.

Mrs Peg shows you her living room

Below is the Back door view. Note the wonderful painting upon the walls and the blinds that matches Mrs Peg dress.

back View

I hope you have enjoyed this delightful little dwelling and it shows what  ‘Two’ little girls get up to and that a little imagination costs nothing,

but is giving hours of fun!

She is such a cutie pie! They are our joy our life and our reason to be… I can’t believe you managed to build such a doll house, you must be a very patient ideal grandmother!
It is indeed a balancing of energies to focus on this too and post it which amazed me as I had the same reaction minutes before seeing yours and felt the need to get my positivism back in focus and post a photo on nature’s attributes.
I am sure your other post contributed, you sent a well being chain of reaction !

It was really easy the box was already the shape, I just used a sharp knife to cut out windows and doors and the rest was paint.. The sticky work and curtains and carpet my granddaughter did she also dressed Mr and Mrs Peg.. and helped make the furniture 🙂

Yes I agree about needing to get our positivism back, I dislike being too negative in my posts but sometimes I feel we have to draw attention to the negative vibes to help heal them..
Love and Blessings sent your way xoxox

Agree totally on that one, we have to face it to heal it. I was always the facing type, it’s indeed harder but It helps me plan the next step ahead the only problem is when we loose ourselves in fear but then that’s why it’s so good to have a good bloggers to help you SEE properly and with a different perspective the situation 🙂
Many thanks to you for that!

You would not believe how your words resonate Maryrose ~ “olde Soul”~ she has definitely been on this Earth Before and to say she is not 3 until the 3rd Dec, Her vocabulary is far better than my children’s age 4 were. And comes out with the most profound statements… Yes Olde Soul is right!..

It is refreshing to see a youngster enjoying something that has been hand crafted, and just goes to show that even in our high-tech 21st century there is still enthusiasm over the smaller things in life such as these peg dolls and accessories 🙂 I like the effort that has been put into this upmarket and rather elegant house and contents 🙂 Wonderful work…

Keeping their dreams alive as long as we can… I so think what you said on your own post about Santa was so true… Keep the magic going a while longer.. Sue, this is so cute! What a large tea box you had ours are so much smaller and no where as sturdy. Your granddaughter looks so proud of herself and her accomplishment I know she will have hours and hours of fun with this. You two didn’t miss a thing in designing both the interior and exterior of Mr and Mrs. Peg’s home.

Twice now I have sent the grandchildren home with boxes that were left for me. My son and his wife love when I do because the children are so busy playing with it, and it makes such a small mess as well. The children tell me when they are done they will bring them back for the garden base, so far I haven’t received any back. 🙂

Haha! isn’t it great when children will be content and play with simple things, we think they need the latest toy that money can buy, and yet I bet those toys soon loose their appeal, and are left in the corner unplayed with.. Yet a cardboard box can become anything they want it to be.. A car, a plane, a house, a boat… All it takes is a child’s imagination..and they can decorate it colour and shape it which every way.. No wonder you have not received any back 🙂 xxx 🙂

Yes, Sue, those simple things are exactly what they love most. Today my granddaughter visited while mom worked. She saw me breaking down more boxes and wanted to color on one. She began designing Christmas ornaments on the box happily for more than an hour.

She doesn’t know it but in cleaning I decided to pass on a small bag of fabric scraps for her to have at home. I suggested to her mother that she give her paper or cardboard, a tube of glue and her scissors and let her have fun. Mom was thrilled because we are having a winter storm with high winds, below freezing temperatures, and before tomorrow is over expect to have a foot or more of snow. So tomorrow will be a craft day for little one. No toy would interest her as long as this bag of fabric scraps will. 🙂

In the company of children I escape back to childhood.
I spent a day at the seaside with my grand children.
The colourful Rainbow Lorikeets roost in the pine trees that line the park and we enjoyed gathering feathers they had dropped.
Then I showed them how to entwine them into a straw sun hat.
Then fun in the surf with an old board.
It was priceless relaxing fun. Priceless in that it cost nothing.
This is what children need, our time not costly gifts just clothes-peg dolls and sea-shells.
Enjoy her Sue she is a treasure.
