Night Sounds

 

Night Sounds.

 

I cannot sleep, I toss and turn

And so Pen and Paper my thoughts  to discern

I listen in silence for eerie night sounds

As I lay here snuggled under eiderdowns

 

The wind she howls through the window pane

As I hear the beat, and lash of rain

The radiator ticks on like grandfather clock

The heating still on, to turn off I forgot

 

I glance at the clock its two forty-six

A strange cry is barked, must be a fox up to tricks

High pitched alarm in the distance is raised

Maybe it’s burglars, could be anything these days.

 

Cat fights are heard with the bang of a bin

Now silence befalls, between gusts of wind

I close my eyes and listen in my head

And repeat the days chatter of things that I said

 

 I clear out my thoughts, sending prayers out once more

To heal all Earth’s people, and protect those I adore

I thank my Lord’s Angels for the work that they do

With extra special thanks for helping me too

 

Tomorrow I rise early, so I try now to sleep

My book is now closed, my journal to keep

Of Sounds in the Night, my thoughts written down

Good Night

Sleep tight

As Peace now I’ve found.
