I Promised I would update you on how the Allotments were growing.. All is coming along nicely. And as you can see, one little girl was delighted to collect the first dug new potatoes and bag them for dinner.
More photos can be found in the gallery Here on the Update of what else is growing in Dreamwalker’s Garden update.
Oh and remember our little friend who came to visit and then disappeared some time ago.. Well he was back today. I managed to sneak up on him the second time.. The first time I saw him I walked right under the hanging nut feeder this morning as its positioned under an arch of trees where he was doing his balancing act .. I glanced up and I do not know who jumped first, me or the mouse.. As he jumped back into the conifer hedge. 🙂 I waited a while and he came out again. This time I crept up and he tolerated me and I snapped this picture until I got too close then he disappeared again into the hedge.
Have a wonderful weekend all of you.
Blessings
Sue

yes Mj.. it takes some hard work to maintain to keep weed free.. If you left it a week or more the weeds soon take over.. We do not use any commercial pesticides etc.. and we win some and lose some to the pests.. But we get organic produce that tastes just Yum and can pick it fresh daily.. Love and Hugs your way too my friend.. Hugs Sue ❤

I agree Mike… the taste is nothing in comparison… When you think of all the chemicals that get sprayed on a farmers field. which has gone into the soil over the years… It makes me cringe to think what we are eating.. We do not use sprays only our own made up ones to deal with aphids etc… Which you can find how to do on the net quiet easily and cheaply.. Also companion planting helps, so we plant marigolds etc as many insects do not like the smell of them and so it deters pests..

What an absolutely incrdible job you have done with this garden, Sue!!! That is a LOT of work, but the fruits of your labor are just beginning to come in. There is nothing better then to eat from your own garden, and as I write this how I wish we had one too. Hubby just won’t put the work into it though. I hope you found seeds that were not GMO. How sad a day when even our seeds have been tampered with to make them sterile. Your granddaughter just glows, Sue. So happy outdoors holding her first potato of the year. OH FOR THE JOY!!!! Have a great Sunday, my friend!!! Love, Amy ❤

Sue, I’ve already raised 4 feral pigeon chicks. My beautiful original one is a beautiful male which has a partner and sometimes he comes to feed, but sometimes she comes to feed also. So I have to trap him soon to give him an Insecticide bath so he doesn’t get pigeon fleas nor mites. About your mouse: if you notice he starts overpowering the feeder; take it down or buy the plastic kind that makes it hard for them to climb. It’s extremely difficult not to share bird seed with rodents. When I fed birds in the U.S., the chipmunks and field mice also came.

At the moment Maria he is not taking too much of the nuts.. And I am happy for him to be there.. I would not be so encouraging if it were a rat mind you.. but even rats have their place.. Living near the allotments there are a lot of hens which are kept on the various plots so I hope the rats are getting their fill from the bird seed and corn etc..
Good to know you have raised 4 more chicks.. And good luck on you capturing Mr Pigeon for his bath!.. 🙂
We have a pair of wood pigeons that visit the garden regular and bath in the bird bath.. which I then empty out. 🙂 and refill.. We put fresh water in daily..

Hi Bela.. The allotments are very Big here in the UK.. with land being put aside for people who want to rent the land to grow their own food and perhaps keep a few hens for eggs etc.. The Garden Association runs Shows for those who wish to exhibit, but we grow for family and friends that we share it with.. And freeze lots to sustain us over winter.. … as she walks in after mixing manure and fish emulsion ‘stew’ for her fruit trees … yes, enjoying gardening takes up much of my life! I love it. Though having our 9 hens poses problems – I can’t top dress the trees with manure, or the chickens scratch it all out. Ditto the mulch. So my husband and I hatched the idea of making a liquid brew. I now have some 60 gallons of it starting to cook. I think the plants will love it! ❤

Your garden is simply lovely Sue. I’m too lazy to take pictures of mine but you have the same hoop houses that I do. This winter I am going to cover 2 long beds and grow under them but I’m really looking forward to having our balcony closed in glass next week so i will literally have a greenhouse next to my kitchen. Great job and I love what you are doing. Hope to get some of mine posted soon. I’m now picking cukes, zuccini, lots of beans and lettuce, strawberries as well. Dear Sue,
As humans, we remain conditioned to be soothed by the colour Green. I have always wondered why it is so. It does seem to be a societal disposition that seems to have flowed down the millennia.
I suppose, apart from our senses being soothed by a ‘green’ outdoors, we also get to live in the moment, don’t we? Your brief tete-a tete with the mouse is a case in point…..
Loved the post. My blessings go out to your grand-daughter, hope she liked those freshly dug out spuds!

Thank you dear Shakti..
Our connection with Mother Earth is as old as time itself.. For me personally connecting within the earth, growing seeds, planting and clearing weeds.. ( weeds being the name of things we do not wish to grow ) for all things have purpose and many a Weed has wonderful healing properties.
But yes we connect and feel soothed and refreshed because we do not realise the connection we have with our Earth Mother is still strong.. We are healed within our vibration as we ‘Earth’ and ‘Ground’ ourselves within her soil, and trees, water and oceans.. And research shows we have the same frequency.. 🙂 Beat if you like..
We should all of us try to live in the ‘moment’ I agree with you Shakti.. but modern day living has for the most part made our lives Rush around at speed… Time being money.. and Money being made the Be all and end all in life..
Yet without nature, without Food, without Water, without the right environment we could not sustain life..
One day maybe more will learn to appreciate the ‘Little things’ in life.. 🙂 I so hope so.. 🙂 and I so appreciate you taking time out to comment and visit dear Shakti..
Blessings to you and Yours my friend
