A walk in the Forest.

The Major Oak.

Although I live in a Town I am very lucky that I am surrounded by wonderful countryside within a short driving distance.

One such place upon my doorstep is Sherwood Forest.. A Place where legends of Robin Hood are set… When My Son was a young boy he would play in these woods with his bow and arrow, fighting unseen Sheriff of Nottingham’s men and at that time many years ago you could climb and walk into the gap of the Major Oak.. Today things have changes and the Mighty Oak is now fenced off and protected, supported by huge poles and strong wires.  And it now has a Visitors Centre with shops, Cafe’s and now thousands of visitors each year.

To give you an idea of the size of this tree that has had its age put around  800 to a 1,000 years old. It has a girth of over 35ft and a height of around 53ft today.

Below is a link that can explain and show you better than I can the details of this wonderful Tree..

Trees are like my friends they support me when I am low, The give me air to breathe and they provide me shelter and fuel

and I very often tell them all my woes!.

You can see the Sherwood Forest in my Album.

Hey Dreamwalker!!  What a lovely posting of something near and dear to so many of us.  Robin Hood taught us much more than robbing from the rich and giving to the poor.  How about faith and love of country..and of our fellow compatriots.  Honor and integrity as well.  Yes, love, through your eyes we once again are reminded in the love of nature and of our memories, as evidence from thoughts of your son playing with bows and arrows in Sherwood Forest.

Hiya Dreamwalker …. wow I love it! My sister went there about 12 years ago now and her photos are amazing. She bought Nath back some lil pewter souveniers which Nath still has on a shelf in his room. You are lucky to have such a beautiful space right there. Take care, love H xo

Hi Sue…thanks for sending this link! I enjoyed the read. I have read many books about Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest…along with King Arthur tales and so forth. They are some of my most favorite, magical moments immersed in these tales and living the legends in my mind. I don’t know why I feel so connected to all things British…but like I said…I think the stork made a wrong turn when delivering me. LOL!

I just love the lush surroundings as I currently live in a city in very warm, desert conditions. For now, it is necessary for me to be here and so I accept it…but not for too much longer…and then I shall live in my green sanctuary somewhere.

The odd things is…my house is in a lovely little rural sub-division called…wait for it…Nottingham Hills! 🙂 You think the universe is telling me something? 🙂

I love that we have connected in this way. It is good to connect with other Light Beings such as yourself, we have so very many things in common as I see from this blog. I look forward to many more wonderful conversations.

Bless you for the work you do, Spiritual Warrior!
    Love and Peace!
