I was listening again to this music and I was reminded of a what I wrote back in 2009, in the form of the poem below, I wrote it on the beach while visiting the ocean I looked on as children played in the sand.
Our Children Learn by example
Lets set them some good foundations to Grow with.
They are our future and our Light in the world… Teach them the ways of Unity, Acceptance, Tolerance, and PEACE..
And allow them to learn about Earth Law, And learn about legal Law..I had drafted this post last evening and as synchronicites conspired, . Today I read Paul’s post on Learning From Dogs . And found on his post a video about The Children’s Climate Crusade
For it will be our children who have to pick up all the mess we adults are leaving behind us.
I hope you find time to go and watch the video posted there.
~~~~~
Let Our Children Grow
I breathe deep breaths of salt sea air
The breeze does blow, playing with my hair
Children’s laugh and play in sand
A moment’s pause, in make-believe land.
As time stands still, I watch unseen
As families join this loving scene
Where sandcastles are built, with children’s smiles
The ocean is clear and smooth for miles
All so innocent, all so young
Unaware of life to come
Moments so precious, never to return
As memories of yesteryear I yearn.
A time when my children full of life
Not knowing that heartache could cut like a knife.
A time when life was simple and plain
Not knowing we each carry this pain.
I see so much, yet dare not tell
Shaking away dreams, I must not dwell.
So for now I freeze this moment in space
Sending out prayers for the Human Race.
These children whose laughter echoes in my ears
Are our future and hopes for all we hold dear.
So teach them to live, to love, and be free
We each play our part, meaning you and me.
Teach them to follow what lies in their heart
For material possessions we shall soon part
The values of life are not kept in the bank
For soon they will know, to the depth man has sank.
Disarm them with kindness, make them aware
That the future is in their hands, we need to share.
Let them know this Earth needs to heal
That All things Are possible, where nothing is real.
Help heal our world, Let our children grow
With knowledge of Love.. Let hatred go.
Tomorrow comes around, to those who wait
Help Our Children, Let’s not leave till too late.
Incidentally,my wife is an ardent dog lover, but even after 32 years of married life, I am hesitant to buy her a dog as I am afraid of her leaving me and going behind the dog (lol)…best wishes…Raj.
Beautiful poem Sue. It’s so difficult to reach children with all the technology that’s in the way. They prefer iPads instead of wooden toys, how to stop this? No wonder the ‘Home Schooling’ movement began in the U.S., not only because of the violence in schools, but because of the influence technology has, of kids using it vs. kids that don’t.
Maria.. its been great having your visit over the weekend.. 🙂 And love that you enjoyed my poem.. Yes the home schooling is more prevalent in the USA than here in the UK. Technology has a great place in education.. but its also overtaken their lives.. As many now are hooked into social media or PC. games…. And do not go outside or enjoy activities such as sports or nature… We are seeing children who are not healthy, overweight, and only today a report came out that said that Self harm was on he increase in Primary School!!… We have to seriously wonder what we are doing to the younger generation ..
Sue, a very profound perspective and as usual with your brilliant skill you have beautifully presented the message for the large audience like us…
No question asked we all have do our bit and it is imperative to do it today for the children of tomorrow, we have all become self-centered and lost track in what we need to do for the future of our society.
Yes, values, kindness, laughter all missing from our children, they are trapped in the mad rush of life and are confused in the wilderness of the fast changing life style and value system…they need our guidance and or support and it is our duty to deliver the good things to our next generation.
Thank you Nihar.. I very much appreciate your visits and comments.. You are spot on with your thoughts when you said ” it is imperative to do it today for the children of tomorrow, we have all become self-centered and lost track in what we need to do for the future of our society.”..
Yea and I also agree our values have gone haywire too..
We have a responsibility to the next generation not only to help guide, but to help clean up the mess we are creating and leaving them..
Many thanks Nihar… your perception as always is to see right to the point of my posts.. Blessings to you.. Sue
Sue, lovely as always but I don’t think our children are as unaware as we might think. More of us are sharing our concerns with the children in an age appropriate way. By doing so they notice those things in the natural world we don’t want to lose and need to protect. Children are inquisitive and if we are open to answering their questions we will find they have quite few. My grandchildren asked why we recycle and from there we ended up in a discussion about landfills, what they are and how we are running out of space for them. We talk about the loss of bees and they have learned to nurture them with special flowers and natural habitats.
Yes, it will be our children and their children who will have to deal with the mess we leave them but I have so much faith that these little ones will have the heart and guts to do what is right.
I agree if we nurture our children and grandchildren into understanding about recycling and waste, and showing them alternatives to help nature thrive… We then are educating their generation into being more concious about preserving natural habitats and being more eco friendly in our environment .
I pray they will know what to do also.. xxx
Excellent all round post Sue, very pertinent points, exactly what are we leaving the next generation, then again our generation left us a lot of values, morals and codes of conduct to live by, I still believe that science advancement with technology was so rapid that we lost the ability to share what we were taught to the new generation.
It is pathetically sad when the incoming generation, have to resort to suing the government to get results.
