Save These Dolphins

This post I have to share with all of my subscribers as I have received an email from ‘The Avazz Team’ to be found here if you want information about them, They help to organise petitions around the world where there is Crisis, and have helped save many from their plights.  http://www.avaaz.org/en/

Dolphins have always been close to my heart.. Intelligent, playful and a species that is fast under attack in many ways being caught up in fishing nets etc and drowning.. Whales and Dolphins have a role to play upon this Earth, with their Song and Sonar which for some reading this may think nonsense, but I have long known their importance upon this Earth and its heart breaking when I read about their deaths and the way mankind treats  all our aquatic life..

This Pod of Dolphins were swimming peacefully in Solomon Islands  when they were captured by nets which trapped 25 Wild Dolphins.. They were Caught to be used in a Luxury Resort of World Sentosa as they want a new attraction..

They are now locked in pens, apparently starved of food.  For wild Dolphins this must be torture and as the email states, not only because their freedom has been curtailed, but because their powerful Sonar bounces off the walls. Many captive Dolphins die young from stress induced illnesses.

It is estimated that if World Sentosa if successful in keeping the Dolphins then at least half could die within the first two years and it could legitimise the banned practice of capturing  Wild Dolphins. which could open up all sorts of flood gates.. 

Resorts World  had to abandon its plans for a whale shark exhibit  because of a huge outcry which threated their reputation 2 yrs ago So help me help them..

Eddie Kidd interview: Disabled stuntman’s heroic London Marathon walk goes on – mirror.co.uk

Eddie Kidd. Picture Daily Mirror..

I have been following the efforts of Eddie Kidd’s courageous
walking of the London Marathon, still putting his brave one foot in front of the
other as he is raising awareness of Leukaemia in Children. And the Eddie Kidd
Foundation..

I remember watching his Dare devil Stunts such as soaring over
 numerous Buses and  cars in one stunt, and jumping over the Great Wall of China,..
It was in 1996 when a Stunt went badly wrong which left Eddie severely Brain
Damaged with serious injuries . Now he painstakingly walks around three quarters
of a mile a day..on a good day..  You can see his story here via link to the Daily Mirror via

the 17th April 2011…And He’s Still Walking..

This just shows the strength of will Eddie has.

Xingu River Brazil.

 

My Dear Friend Jussara from Brazil sent me these words

I hope that you will read why flooding this vast area of over 400,000 acres will have such an impact on these Indigenous peoples lives not to mention the untold wildlife.

The words below are from my friend.

My dear, I send here a picture of the region
Xingu River, where the government wants to build the hydroelectric,
so you see the size of the territory that will be destroyed…
This is an indigenous territory, live here more than 15 groups
Ethnic Indigenous ( thousands of indigenous people) and also
there are traditional populations (non-indigenous groups).
I also sent photos of the Kayapo ethnic group, which will be
one of the hardest hit.

These ethnic groups along the river are forest people,

they do not know life in cities.
When constructing the dam, these people will be uprooted,
the forest will be flooded forever…
thus, the entire forest and local wildlife, including numerous types
mammals, birds, fish, insects that exist only there, all
will be destroyed.

The remaining trees in the surrounding areas will
their roots rotted by the change of water level and also
die. Indigenous peoples shall be taken to prefabricated houses,
lose the land where they live and live their ancestors, finally lose
everything and will not survive. 
I have high hopes that the pressure from international groups
can make the government abandon the project, this is our hope …

A Message from Pandora, STOP! the Destruction

 

A dear friend of mine who lives in Brazil, sent me an appeal today, to sign a petition to stop the Belo Monte Dam project from going ahead later this month.. Here are her Words..

“Stop Belo Monte Dam!

The Brazilian government approved the environmental license for the controversial Belo Monte Dam in the Amazon. The dam, slated to be the world’s third largest hydroelectric project, would devastate an extensive area of the Amazon rainforest, and threaten the survival of indigenous and traditional peoples. Construction could begin this year.

 The decision has caused a national and international outcry. It’s time for urgent action! The government has just given a license to start cutting down trees and clearing the construction site for the Belo Monte hydropower project. The decision has already triggered strong reactions, and the Federal Public Ministry in Pará has publicly stated that the license is illegal, and cannot be issued without prior compliance with environmental requirements.

But, President Dilma is turning a deaf ear. Only a massive wave of protest from citizens across the country could persuade her to review the decision. We’ve done it before! If enough of us call, we could protect our precious environment and get her to immediately revoke the illegal license. And, if we don’t act now, the forest will be cleared this month”

 

I was shocked to learn of this project whereby 40,000 indigenous people and local people will be displaced and lose their homes and habitat, not to mention the thousands of Species of Animals, Wildlife and unique species of animals and insects.

The Dam will flood 400,000 acres of Rainforests and the project is Bigger than that of the Panama Canal. Please watch the video and visit the links listed here.. and add you vote …
Where do we stop in destroying our world.. It has taken hundreds of years for these trees which give us our Oxygen to breath.. There are I am sure alternatives to this  hydroelectric Belo Monte, which will destroy the entire region of the Xingu river,in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

Child Abuse; pass it on please!!

My name is Sarah
I am but three,
my eyes are swollen
I cannot see.
I must be stupid,
I must be bad,
what else could have made
my daddy so mad?
I wish I were better,
I wish I weren’t ugly,
then maybe my Mommy
would still want to hug me.

I can’t speak at all,
I can’t do a wrong
or else I’m locked up
all the day long.

When I awake I’m all alone
the house is dark
my folks aren’t home.

When my Mommy does come
I’ll try and be nice,
so maybe I’ll get just
one whipping tonight.

Don’t make a sound!
I just heard a car
my daddy is back

I hear him curse
my name he calls
I press myself
against the wall.
I try and hide
from his evil eyes
I’m so afraid now
I’m starting to cry.

He finds me weeping
he shouts ugly words,
he says it’s my fault
from Charlie’s Bar.

that he suffers at work.

He slaps me and hits me
and yells at me more,
I finally get free
and I run for the door.

He’s already locked it
and I start to bawl,
he takes me and throws me
against the hard wall

I fall to the floor
