Taking Stock!

“Carmarthen Castle is a ruined castle in Carmarthen, West Wales, UK. First built by Walter, Sheriff of Gloucester in the early 1100s, the castle was captured and destroyed on several occasions before being rebuilt in stone during the 1190s.”

Castle of Old

My hands touch the ruins of the castle stones of old

The wind blows back the time when these bones were bare and cold

To a place where the Celts lived and dragons used to roam

Where the magic of a land was once a place called home

A Wiccan girl in ragged clothes did stand the test of power

As she stood there praying silently to the heavens in the tower

For Banners flew and warriors cried as battle did commence

And the Castle walls did crumble absorbing her lament

A Knight so bold Did race to find his love

He heard but a prayer held on the wind, echo from above

The cry now echoed across the land, as the wind did touch the stone

The Wiccan girl on spiral rides the Dragons back on home.

“I gave my heart, I give my life, and in these walls I stay

And one day soon in futures Dawn A maiden will pass my way

And when she touches these stones of old, my story she will tell

Of a time when a Wiccan Girl weaved her magic spell.”

© Sue Dreamwalker the poem I first wrote in 2011–2019

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And upon a sunny day in the future she came to spy
A empty stock against a wall she heard the ‘wiccan’ cry
As Husband took a snap, she found herself locked tight
She was glad there were no rotten eggs or cabbages in flight
The Wiccan girl knew she’d touched a memory raw
As all who passed did smile as the Wiccan laughed some more.
A Dreamwalker- catcher 🙂
My computer goes for a wellness check tomorrow, so I may not get straight back to moderate comments. I only have a handful of people left to catch back up with since my holidays who have kindly commented on my last few posts.  In the mean time have a wonderful rest of the week.
    You definitely are that maiden who sees what once was. This was such a vivid story told by the stones and caught by you. Wonderful pictures of a long-gone time… who knows, perhaps dragons existed…I am simply glad that you made it out of the stocks again 😂
    I believe, that you with your sensitivity was able to catch a lot of the history from this old castle. All castles and other old buildings have a story to tell, just we are willing to listen.
    Could you imagine living back in those times Sue? Being pelted with rotten fruit & vegies all because someone deemed you bad because you probably took some food because you were starving.
    Mmmm, you seem so comfortable in there and you love for garden food may be telling you something 😂
      Yes Amy we have no idea of the past sufferings of those early Pagan women. Whose only crime was to use their senses and healing knowledge .
      We think we have progressed yet still to this day ‘mankind’ kills and plunders and women and children still suffer. ☹️
      I didn’t mean to bring tears but it shows Amy the deep sensitivity of who you are.
              We were shattered Jane, but so satisfied with our work 🙂 neither of us are getting any younger… And at some points we wished we hadn’t started lol.. Especially when putting up a new blind in the kitchen, which had me balancing on the work top with screwdriver in hand.. 🙂 Thankfully I didn’t have to re-drill new plug holes as the new blind fit the existing fittings 🙂 Phew!! my knees took a pounding though… But the results are worth our efforts..and happy you understand those efforts in the humidity we are not so used too 🙂
    You have a gift of storytelling through poetic prose, my friend. I loved reading about the events that could have transpired so long ago. It is quite jarring to be in the presence of places like that, that are so old and carry so many memories. I remember feeling that way when I was in Segovia in Spain. The ancient aqueducts made me pause, almost as if to take in the ancient voices and all the events of history that occurred in the millennia since they were erected. It’s a slightly different feeling when I’m in the southwestern part of the US – to feel that history of where ancients once roamed – their voices are softer because those areas fell out of use after that. I still feel it, but it lacks the “heaviness” that other old places have that still remain in use. It’s a lighter feeling, almost as if the history wants to be told, but with a gentler energy. It’s still just as moving and striking nonetheless.
    It looks like it was a fun trip! As for me, I’ve been working on my mandalas more and more, glad for the time I have carved out. 🙂
            Can we borrow your wall papering and decorating skills for our house? The recent downpours have wreaked havoc with the front walls leaving one of them soaking wet (wet walls smell disgusting!!). The expensive new wallpaper has been ripped off to let it dry….then we will need an experienced paperer! and decorator! 😀
      Yes the not so ‘Good old days’ David, one really wonders at those by-gone times of Knights, Castle’s and Kings! And how those poor Pagans were treated.. 💛 Many thanks for reading my friend 🙂 Enjoy your weekend to come 🙂
      You dear Miriam are a Gem!… And you also must have been reading my mind, as I had been thinking of you, and feeling I had neglected you, as you were one of the handful I had still not got around to visiting.. Though I have read a few posts on your blog via my phone app this week, I wanted to wait until I was on my computer again, as I tend to leave longer comments that I fail to do justice to via the phone app.
      Loved your article published on the travel magazine you write for..
      We’ve been full on decorating our home, and just not had time for my blog or the internet..
      So pleased you enjoyed the poetry 🙂 Miriam 🙂 Look forward for a long catch up, I am sure I have plenty of reading to catch up on down under 🙂 ❤
    Wow! Truly beautiful poetry, Sue. And I sit here after having read it, thinking to myself: where has that world of of heroes, longing, sacrifice, enduring love, hope everlasting…gone?
    I enjoy your posts so much and admire your strength and outlook, but don’t always take the time to comment. So here, at 5AM, unable to sleep, I write to you in admiration for who you are and your lovely, uplifting writing. The world is a better place because you spread so much good around…
      Oh Ronnie, you do not know what that huge compliment means to me .. I am guilty of not getting around to everyone I follow and have neglected your site for too long.
      I have had lots to think about this year, and on several occasions I have thought of no longer blogging and just when that thought occurs again some one comes along to tell me, as you have today, this early morning, that my words help .
      I can only think you were divinely guided this morning Ronnie, So THANK YOU..
      And I hope your sleep pattern improves.. I will add you to my healing book of energy prayers.. Thoughts are living energy and I so believe in the power of healing when we are surrounded in our own and others positive vibrations..
      Many thanks for being a SIGN to me this day Ronnie.. You have no idea what it means to me.. As I have been pondering so much this last week to just slip into my own personal world… ❤ Special Hugs to you Ronnie ❤
      Oh how very kind of you to do so, I so very much appreciate you thinking of me this way and for you to do so is such an honour…
      I do not expect you have seen on my side bar, I stopped taking awards in 2015 as I had so many gracious people awarding me so many lovely awards, but as I am sure you are finding out award receiving and passing along with all the rules etc can be a time consuming process..
      So I became an Award Free Blog zone..
      But I so thank you very much Chocoviv, I congratulate you on the success your blog is receiving.. and on your wonderful award..
      Much love Sue 🙂
    What a beautiful writing Sue, has shades of romantic nostalgia and the imagery is exquisite, beautifully composed and presented with the portrait of the modern day Wiccan in the stocks.
Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
