High on Mountain Tops.

Watercolour inspired by the Lochs in Scotland .

High on mountain tops to fly

Descending water cascading by

Reflections in mirrored lochs

While sheep roam free within the flocks

~~

Highland Cattle with horns so long

That welcome smile where hearts are strong

And heather gathered for luck on moors

While crofter’s homes have open doors

~~

Whiskey brewed with waters pure

The Land where Brave Hearts endure

Where Shetland Ponies roam and run

And Thistle Emblems once begun

~~

Spinning, weaving, crafts galore

A cottage garden, home and more

Fishing nets and lobster pots

Bagpipes drone in beauty spots,

~~

The Highland Fling, with Tartan Kilts

With pointed toe, and sporran belts

A wee dram here, and wee dram there

The Ceilidh spirit is everywhere

    Hey Sue, Namaste 🙂

A charming little ditty bursting with Scottish flavour…I can almost smell the heather and feel the sense of sincere affection you have for all things tartan 🙂

One wonders if you were sat in situ compiling poetry and composing your paintings? Both paintings are quite magical – the first a dreamscape, an ideal, reflecting the poetry of the highland wilderness. It is overwhelming and awe-inspiring and yet one has the most intimate relationship with it. The second image is as dynamic and fluid as Nature herself and all aspects of Her are represented: there is both life and death and energetic exchange – from water to flight. Beautiful work Sue: I very much enjoy the balance of the two side by side: calm and chaos, what a delightful relationship they share and how beautifully the colours seem to compliment that relationship 🙂

I wish you well with your creative endeavours and hope 2018 fulfils every artistic expectation you have and strive for: may your Gallery be bursting full by year’s end and your brush be left threadbare 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend Sue Dreamwalker. Take care.

    Love and Peace. Namaste 🙂

Many thanks dear Dewin, at last I get down to your most welcome visit and comment. No my paintings and poems were created separately but they teamed well together, next time perhaps I should paint a Salmon leaping up the rivers of the Glen.. 🙂

I love the way you view my artwork Dewin, the calm and chaos, much like the world around us depending upon which side we wish to align our energies. Many thanks Dewin for your well wishes for 2018, My collection of art no doubts will find their way as gifts at some future point. And while I got treated to more art materials, you reminded me, some of my paint brushes could also do with replacing 🙂

You too have a peaceful Sunday, and a bright 2018 in all you do

Your comment made me smile oh so wide dear Marlene, thank you so, so much.. I take such gifts for granted as I have always loved drawing and take the art gene from my Dad who also was talented but rarely practised it as he was too busy working and earning a living. He always taught us there is no such word as Can’t and therefore I have always tried many things and not given up, therefore in the process I have many talents but am master of none.. So such praise when I have it given always swells my heart and my ‘head’ 🙂 ❤ Much Love Marlene.. I hope you are having a restful one xx

I love the poem too and having lived in Scotland, its landscape, culture seeped into me and became part of me. At the outset sorry dear Sue for coming so late, got terribly tied up and I always allocate good time to read your post without any any distraction and cherish every bit of your lovely and profound thoughts that you weave through such magical fashion. Sometime it will take little longer time but will never miss the joy of reading your wonderful words and I enjoy getting immersed in the creativity of words and colors that you share with us.

Yes, I remember you had said just before beginning of the this year, you are taking a break and wants to spend quality time in painting, and I can see the beauty that has come through your masterly artistic work. Everything is so lively. Poetry and Painting are two complimentary facets of creative manifestation and never easy to be ambidextrous but creativity of any form comes to you like fish to water…

The highland and the surrounding with cattle, sheep, fish, birds, landscape and the greenery makes such a wonderful composition (horn so long and heart so strong) that in every bit of the nature there is beauty and it needs a good soul to observe and absorb the joy and bliss of life, who else has such a magical soul like you…the choice of words, always has been wordsmith’s paradise and the art of combination that you have so craftily presented in this poetry is delightful for any avid readers, having a connoisseur of playing with words to weave magic and I am enjoying every bit of the poetry and the painting. I always love such play between two ends of creative spectrum to paradoxes to similar aspects crafted in creative composition.

The watercolor and the skills of your colorful brushes have magically captured a slice of Scotland…the Kingfisher, the splash of blue and the capture of fish, all have come out so real…as if you saw it happening in front of you and you were there and snatched that scene and embraced it on the canvas…high on mountain tops we see a different world and we feel close to heaven as we land in such exotic places and go deep inside the kernel of nature and nurture our hibernated senses, there is indeed a sense of accomplishment that is internal but it provides a glory and glitter to our external manifestation.

Thanks so much dear Sue and so much to exchange…the bliss, the delight, the joy and the harmony of thoughts!!!
    Take care!!!

      Dear Nihar,
Many thanks my friend for your wonderful compliments my friend. Yes I said this year I was going to concentrate more on my creative skills, and while I so love my WP family, I find myself absorbing too much time sat in front of a computer screen instead of my canvas’s. And I am a person who has to follow her instincts.. And this year for whatever reason it appears I am finding the urge to follow that creative side of me..
I have also been model making, Something I will share on my Garden blog in due course. Before the growing season takes hold. 🙂
Thank you for that wonderful compliment that you have paid me both of my painting and poetry skills.. I am truly grateful for the time you spent reflecting upon both..

In Gratitude Sue 🙂 Many many Thanks! 🙂

I agree dear Sue we all need to take a break from this computer screen and get ourselves meaningfully engaged in multiple other creative activities and also spend quality time treading the nature and deeply soaked in the beauty and bounty that nature gives in abundance and we have either taken it for granted or have got overly stuck in our digital space and there has to balance which we have started to realize have gone bit haywire we are yet figure out how to put things in its proper perspective.

I am always envious with the closeness you have with nature and any time you feel, you can walk into the garden and also the two other creative tool of yours painting and poetry…I feel having multiple creative engagement makes our creative faculties to grow stronger and better for us. Model Making is another fascinating aspects of creative world and using wood to metals, to various other materials to make beautiful structures and put our imagination form into solid reality in front us make us greatly delighted.

Always my pleasure dear Sue and reading and sharing my thoughts and continuing the conversation is a wonderful aspects of our happiness and joy of sharing and caring in profound thoughts.
        Take Care!!!

Thank you dear Nihar.. Yes I have really been absorbed in my model making activities, and just learning to chill out and not worry over not being connected to the internet. Shutting it down is liberating. 🙂 I am hopeful that Nature will pick her self up a little to enable us to get out and about a bit more.. Its been very cold, damp and windy here, a dreadful January. But at last the temperatures are rising a little and the wind blows the cobwebs away from our faces, as we breathe in some fresh air..
Have a peaceful day my friend 🙂 and thank you 🙂

That’s how it should be dear Sue not unduly put pressure on ourselves and be so much regimental in routines and be more free and enjoy the way things pan out and also to do things leisurely…
Here also weather is changing, in such changing weather we need to be bit careful as going out in nature is something we love to do but in such situations it needs adequate restraints…take care dear Sue and not to worry too much on the routines in the digital space.

Sue, I always enjoy reading your poems; this one touched me. The painting inspired by the lochs, even more so. Of course. You have reminded me to locate my drawing pens, sadly not much used, and take them with me this spring. Thanks for this; I love the hummingbird, too.

I chose to re-build my life last summer some time and creating every day (or at least as often as possible) is one of the things I’m using. So far it’s mainly fibres (i.e., knitting & crochet); but I’d love to do some simple sketching while away.

I am looking forward to setting up in a place of my own again, where I can have some areas dedicated to my various pursuits. Not TOO soon, though! 🙂

I hope you are having a wonderful week, Sue. Love and Light to you. ~ Linne

Hi Sue! I’m finally here. (I so wish WordPress would get their act together and send notices…) The paintings are wonderful — and your words are beautiful. Such a delight to visit you.
Oh… I’m working on a new chapter for Thistledown, and was going to add a drum circle — then I thought of you. May I name a character in honor of you? (That means a shoutout link too.) What I’m working on would have the “scary faeires” in the colorless world help Bedlam.
Here’s a link to the “find your faery name” chart post: https://teagansbooks.com/2017/07/01/come-out-to-play-thistledown/
So it would be the gray-green second chart. Or just tell me the month of your birth. I plan to use “Drummer” as either first or last name, depending on what sounds right to me….
    What do you think?
    Hugs on the wing!

A lovely poem from you, Sue. This one speaks to me about being brave and soaring courageously through what we choose to do down the path we choose to take – with a beautiful view 🙂 As we create, it’s always important to remember that there is a world outside to explore and to live. Hope you are both creating and exploring. Beautiful watercolours. They look so life-like. You do have that eye for design and I’m guessing more watercolours to come from you soon 🙂

Also thank you for sharing Andrew’s piece. I really, really enjoyed reading it 🙂 Best wishes to you and may you find inspiration to create ❤

Well done, Sue. Through your words I could hear the pipes in the distance. Both the poem and painting where peaceful … then again, that is you. 🙂

I went to leave a comment on your last work, but it said “comments are closed.” Darn it, it would have been such a great comment. 🙂 I was talking to my son about how things have changed over the years. I know change is inevitable, and some would say always good for us, but I’m not so sure about it always being good. As a society we need to stop and look up at the stars….learn to experience life at a slower pace. I have concerns about my species.

Thank you Bill, I closed Comments because I wanted people to comment on the persons blog not mine as the story was that from Andrew not my own.. I do so thank you for dropping in and yes things have change.. Change is Constant. and its good that we change, or we would all stay stagnant.. I smile at your sentence.

but I’m not so sure about it always being good. As a society we need to stop and look up at the stars…

As my latest posts title is Look UP and Soar!.. I am sure you will resonate. And yes I too have concerns about our evolution, and destruction. 🙂
Many thanks Bill, I really appreciate you reading and commenting 🙂

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
