Among the scents of the cool evening air
I sit amid the blooms where the gentle breeze stirs
The nodding heads of petals with nectar and pollen ripe
Attracts the Bee and Butterfly and Moth by night
~~
The Fairy Lights are twinkling by the trickle of the pond
As a deep Sigh escapes me, this is where I belong
The Earth beneath my feet, as stars do shine above
Sitting among such beauty within a garden that I love
~~
It could have been an open meadow that holds a babbling brook
I close my eyes and upon a journey I am took
Deeper now I am breathing, as I recall my day
Seeing Butterflies and Bees in a field rich with hay
~~
In gratitude, my thanks to all creatures do I give
For all of Natures Blessings, that enable me to live
And the Spiral keeps on turning as Seasons come and go
Who could miss such beauty, as Mother Nature gives her show
~~
Content a deeper sigh escapes with thanks as I say Goodnight
Tomorrow is another day to welcome in the Light.

The above photo’s were taken from the Hydrangea’s in my garden.. The bees have loved these flowers. And although I have not seen as many butterflies this year, I was so happy to spot this Red Admiral
I hope you all continue to enjoy Nature and make time to connect to her healing energies . And I thank each and every one of you for the Love you bring here to me.
Love and Blessings

Hello Sue this is such a pretty post and your beautiful flowers. The Butterfly’s are few here also Sue sigh..Love your Hydrangea’s my bushes are doing so well, my sister cut a few and took them back to Surrey . I myself don’t cut them and bring them inside. Your soil is acid ? not sure it all depends on the colour ?
Hugs Sue have a lovely weekend

Yes, it is an acid soil Rhododendrons grow well too on our front garden.. We have not taken any as cut flowers, the Dahlias provide us with those and the Gladioli from the allotments.. But we have taken more cuttings from these to propagate into new plants to grow on.. Yes its sad that the butterflies are scarce.. Lovely to see you Sheila.. Hope you are well… Sending Lots of Love your way xx Sue

Hey Sue,
From the breath-taking opening photograph to the last flittering line your post was a pleasure to read, your garden a special place indeed, a paradise you call mine, an Eden full of shine where botany births beauty throughout summertime…and on into autumn, winter, and springtime, in fact she parades her elegance all of the time, especially when your garden is a garden you call mine. 🙂
Have a happy, fruitful, and personally fulfilling weekend…one tickled by triumphs and smiled upon by success 🙂
Take care of one and all as you always do.
Namaste 🙂

lol 🙂 The clue Sue is in what is not written, not what is included in the tall tale told. You have weaved scenes with fantastical gleams, coiled darkness and tension in to the tumultuous tale, but I sense a happy ending, as all fairy tales should, as the boy emerges a man from out of the wood 🙂
Spur of the moment, she is a marvellous muse, a mare to care for cherish and keep, as you ride together across wild plains,
her happiness is your pleasure to reap.

It’s been a very wet Somerset this July, dear Sue, so my gardening activities have often been between showers. Fortunately, most of the land here is given over to apple orchards, which are quite happy to be left alone for long spells. That said, many of the trees are being enveloped in mistletoe, so some work shall need doing there ere long! Hopefully, come December, someone will come along and offer to buy the lot and harvest it for themselves, as happens most years with the apples. 🙂 Blessings on the day, dear Sue! H ❤

Lovely to see you Hariod, and apples, we have 13 on our eating apple tree, lol, yes counted them, We are going to leave them for another week. before we harvest them.. The rain is intermittent here too, on and off..Usually by the afternoon the rain has come.. So we try to head to the allotments early in the morning, to pick and do a little weeding when dry enough.. But the last few days really have been too wet.. So will make a dent in the weeds next week.. Its a while since I saw mistletoe on trees here.. Back in the 80’s there was lots of it hanging.. But like many things it has its good years and bad.. Sending love and thoughts your way dear Hariod.. Blessings.. Sue ❤

There’s something about your poems that compel me to read and re-read and just soak them up, like sitting in the warm rays of the sun while I absorb the warmth and Vitamin D. 🙂
I resolve to start working more on my home and garden – to get them to be the oasis I envision them to be. You have created here a place where life of all varieties love to be. Out back I planted milkweed and lavender seeds…but alas, they didn’t come up. Ah, well. Next year. I’ll start them inside and early. I think I started them too late.
Thank you for teaching me the name of that butterfly: Red Admiral. We have those here, and I would like to learn more about the different varieties of butterflies that live around here. There’s the well known monarch, and I know of swallowtails, but as far as just being able to identify all the different swallowtails out there, well…I want to be a student and learn.
I also love your fairy lights, and beautiful landscaping. Oh, I always walk away from here so inspired, and so ready to burst forth with creative ideas and wonders, all because of the way you fill my cup.
Your poetry is just what I needed to read this morning. After coming to the revelation that no, I am not going to be a mindfulness instructor (at least that’s what my heart feels for now), and that I’m supposed to keep writing, I finished the novel I was working on. First draft, yes, but now I know it’s an “apprenticeship” draft. I need to keep practicing my words and stories, but I will not – can not – publish anything that doesn’t uplift and inspire – and ghost stories do not. I accepted this in meditation this morning. Seeing your poem here – with the uplifting beauty and wisdom – and I’m reminded that I must be patient and not rush this process – even though I get so excited about all things “life” and just can’t wait to flitter along, like a hummingbird. Hehe. Hmm…I’m seeing them everywhere – at the sanctuary where I was, one stopped at the feeder to rest, and I captured a photo of her. It wasn’t a great photo, but one of the first I’ve ever caught of a hummingbird not in flight. I read an article about them recently and was thinking about them at breakfast this morning: how we don’t have feeders, partly due to our cats. But they’re quick and fast and clever, aren’t they?
Ah, I’ve gone on a tangent, but now I’m off to look up butterflies and hummingbird totems. Because, see? I came here and you inspired me. 🙂
Hugs, Dear One. Big, big hugs.

Dearest Cynthia, first apologies for the lateness of my reply, I did reply to one a quite lengthy response in the notifications column, I then clicked something as my hand slipped on the keys and it all vanished.. And over the last day and half I have had my granddaughter with us, so the PC has been turned off. 🙂 As we went out walking.. I really should learn to do long reply comments in my one notes .. lol..
I think it is not until we are away for a while that we come home to take a fresh look at our gardens.. I know I was inspired when I went to Chatsworth flower show and started to rework my borders and flowerbeds..
Many thanks for your wonderful compliments.. And I am sure you are and will be continually guided to inspire by what you write.. I smiled ever wider as I see you now seeing Signs every where and taking heed of them.. I wrote in my comment that disappeared how I was about to put look up hummingbirds etc when reading further in your comment you were already one jump ahead of me.. LOL
You never go off on a tangent, because what is meant to be said gets said.. Simple.. I always follow the flow of where my thoughts take me. and sometimes the words we utter are the words needing to be heard, not only by others but by ourselves also..
Sending lots of Hugs and much love returned to you Cynthia. ❤ Hugs Sue xx

OoOOooOOh! Came back to say that my online adventures led me to my library’s website. Hehe. I’m going to walk over there tomorrow (because…always need to get those steps in, hehe) and check out The Alchemist (read in Spanish, but want to read in English), The Mists of Avalon (have not read this), A Wrinkle in Time (read when I was younger but due to read again) and The Little Prince (never read) – all of these were listed under inspiring fiction. This. THIS. Oh my heart. Just had to come over and share.
As far as hummingbird symbolism. Ah…I have to smile. Independent, changes direction, flexible, and has a lightness to life…ah, yes. Hehe. Apparently your post here was meant to have me find that out today. And for that, I am grateful. ❤

Yes the Alchemist is a good read.. Lots of hidden meanings held within if we are open to look for them. I have not read the Mists of Avalon either.. Just reading all my comments and getting around WP these days lol, takes up a lot of my reading time.. And read half an hour before bedtime, before lights out 🙂 or write.. lol.. going with the flow.. And Big smiles at the meaning of your Hummingbird.. Sending you Lots of Love.. 🙂 ❤

I am always happy to see your garden and read your beautiful post about them.
I am howevet a little bit disappointed..it rained s9 hard here last week…and for the first time there was a flash flood…and it destroyed half of my front yard..with my beautiful garden..ahjh sad..

Awww I so feel for you Mich.. These flash floods are happening more and more around the world, It is hard when we have worked hard to create something and then see it swept away.. I know how I would feel if this happened to me..
But I hope you may be able to see it in a new light.. A reason to redesign your garden. get new plants, or shrubs, and have joy, ( after the clean up ) of putting together a new garden.
Nature does this all the time..
I think of the amount of weeds I pull to destroy in the allotments. yet she keeps growing them.. lol..
Sending huge hugs your way Mich.. for I know how much our gardens mean to us.. I really do xxx ❤ ❤

Lovely thoughts and pictures Sue. On a more pragmatic note, my hydrangeas don’t seem to get much attention from the bees. Do you have a specific bee-friendly variety? Mind you, mine are in the shade.

They love the small flowers in their centre.. The large blooms do not get the bees.. So it has to be the pollen or nectar they are attracted to in the varieties you see pictured Denzil.. Glad you enjoyed the flowers 🙂

Your Garden looks ace! Not been around for a while, between work and the house I have had little time, but glad to see you doing well!
Finally managed to start working on my new garden, when I bought the house was all slate chippings, fences and plastic box’s…..!
At the min, massive project as I ripped everything out and now just open space, cant wait to get it finished and finally enjoy spending time out there, although actually working out there, lost in nature and thought keeps me balanced! Though I have to keep avoiding the rain storms lol !
I think I must have all your butterflies though….I put some seeds into a border I built and the plants are covered in them!

As if your words were not visual enough, we have the lovely photos. Love your garden.
I saw several butterflies (and even a dragonfly) alone with many bees on our short trip. We let nature ‘be” as much as we can..undisturbed as it should be.
Love and hugs.
