The Elder~ The Circular Path ~Final Chapter.

Black and white enhanced

Digitally shaded

Today chores were completed, family drew close and the world continued to spin in its ever seemingly frustrating circles of divisions.  It was time to return to the Peace of her Elder Tree.

Today the Signs had all been about the number 4 as it jumped out at her at every chance it could. She thought upon how often we used this number. The four points of the compass, Four Elements. Four Cornerstones and more.

The four corners of the world were often spoken of, yet Mother Earth was round, a perfect circle as was the Moon and Sun to our eyes.

The woman smiled at how Mankind built his home in squares and angles, ridged blocks and sharp corners. And an image of the pyramids came to mind.  She thought about his personality traits, not easily bending in the wind or flowing in the stream of life. He always appeared to be fighting it, wanting to shape nature to his design rather than living in co-operations with it.

Nature rarely followed a straight line for long. The Ivy she now painted wound its way around the bird’s nest. Birds knew the strength of the circle. The woman leaned back stretching as she turned over the record which had stopped playing on the turntable.  Another circle as each thought went around and around in her head.

The Elder was taking shape now as she mixed some blues and reds in her dish for the berries. The Elder was silent again as she absorbed herself in her task of adding the Elderberries in their bunches to where she felt they needed to be. As her paintbrushes worked she followed her heart,  her vision saw another world unfolding inside her mind as she settled deeper within the Elder’s Magic.

The Heart of the Elder.

The Heart of the Elder.

Her mind flew back to her childhood to the happy times of her memory when she climbed trees and jumped brooks with her younger brother. Carefree days of long Summer Sun helping farmers harvest hay. She thought how she had gathered the Elderberries for her Aunt who would use their flowers in Spring to make sparkling wine, and make syrup and jams and delicious cordials from the Autumn berries. She loved being outdoors, it took her away from the fear of arguments and the responsibilities of watching over her four younger siblings.

She thought fondly of her Dad and the special times of walking the Dales and collecting the green Hazelnut cobs in the early months of September. Eating half before they got home with the nutcrackers tucked in his pocket to save their teeth. He’d always a sharp penknife and would often cut the Hazel rods to make walking sticks. It was the one thing she had wanted when he had passed, for he had made a special one with a ram horn on the top for a handle he used for walking.  He had found the weathered skull upon one of his many lonely hill top walks much later in life.

Around and around her thoughts went as each brush stroke filled in more leaves at the tip of the branches. Her mind thought of the overhanging branch of the large Beech tree in their childhood garden and how in winter storms her Dad had made them all sleep down stairs for fear of the big tree toppling over.

At the thought of the Beech tree she remembered the scars inflicted into its bark as her brother had calved his initials into its trunk. And how with a pellet gun he had aimed at it piercing it over and over in target practice.

Years later as an adult those same scars were still there to be seen. They were not as sharp to the eye, one had to lift their head higher to see them. But they were still visible to those who knew where to look.

But the scars had not prevented the Tree from growing. They were now part of the tree who had grown from the inside outwards.

The woman thought of all the layers which had gone into her own growth. She had no visible outward scars on her skin. Hers had been hidden within the circles of her own memories.

The Tribal  Universe is a circle of learning, everything is related, the woman had long since understood this knowledge.  Standing back from her painting, she saw how the snake had wound its way around the Elder and up into the branches. Each branch a different path. A road taken, each a journey of discovering who we are.

Branches of Life

Branches of Life

We are each climbing our tree, stepping onto our various branches, hauling ourselves higher as we aim to reach the top. Some are sure footed, climbing easily, while others can slip back losing their footing falling on hard ground and they struggle to pick themselves back up to climb again.   Some do not even have the courage to climb the tree for fearing they will fall.. Fear holding many back from exploring and testing one’s self to higher goals.

We are all upon the same Tree each holding onto our our particular pathway. Like leaves we may feel separate swaying in the breeze, yet each one is part of the cycle and each one is helping nourish the whole.

Everything has a time, an evolutionary path through their cycles. Like the Tree it had to shut down, pull back and have its periods of rest as well as growth. Throughout History the woman saw how Mankind had also gone through such cycles.

She thought upon the events in the world. How one thing affects another, each a piece within the whole. She put her brush down and stood up arching her aching back as she stepped back to see the whole of her painting.

Elder Tree Complete

Elder Tree Complete

When we stand back, we see the Earth is alive right from its centre, the womb with its red blood, hot liquid gushing through her arteries. Her veins of waterways merging into her vast oceans tides ebbing and flowing with the Moons Wax and Wane.  While the hairs upon her outer skin are the billions of trees which hold her foundations together. Supporting both Great and Small, from Elephants to Insects, Whales to birds..

A Natural democracy prevails, all things having the right to exist, all things being equal.  She thought back through her memories, her history. We all of us have our place in history, each of us shaping it, calving out our places within it. Even if we may not realise the scars we inflict or leave behind us.  She saw how the circle of life repeats, and she knew deep down that we were reaping the consequences of neglect and greed. What seeds we had sown had to be reaped. What goes around comes around she thought.

The Elder had known no words were needed today, for all the work being done had to come from one’s own BE-ing. As one explored their own journey which took them deep into their roots, taking them both High and Low along the branches of memory. One had to go within themselves to expand and grow.

She sighed, as she finished what she had started, she also knew that no one, and nothing was ever lost as she gave thanks to the Elder, for all that it had given.  For she knew she was just one among many who were travelling back home.

For All roads lead us home, and we were all part of the same Tree of Life.

All long posts are not created equal, or equally. ☺
I don’t even like to read my own long poems. Which is odd because most of the fantasy books I like to read are ridiculously long and so are their series. The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan was 15 volumes when Brandon Sanderson finished it for him posthumously. Jordan being the posthumous one, of course.
But I sincerely enjoyed the story, a mix of things that kept my interest throughout. And I have herein exceeded my own preference for brevity.
        Have a great day, Sue.

Such a beautiful painting Sue. And I appreciate your clear wisdom, passion, and attunement with nature. We can learn much from you and nature. The observation of how rigid and forced we build things really struck me. May we learn to live, work and play with nature.

My Goodness — what a journey. The painting looks so massive but it is really quite small. That makes me admire you even more for being able to render such complexity with such clarity in a watercolor. I enjoyed each part of this process, Sue, especially the dialogue between you and the Elder. As you added each element, I would just smile to myself: “Oh, she’s including that animal, or that plant and even the human fetus! WoW! I am in deep gratitude for how you included me in this artistic process of art plus writing. Thank you, Alia

It is one world. It is one natural world. Humans can agree, fight it, ignore it, abuse it, or love it. But they can’t change the core principle of Planet Earth. We are subject to the laws of Nature.

All much more eloquently expressed by you, Sue, in your gorgeous words.

This painting is really special, Sue.
    I love it.

Maybe at the center we have a gestation period
for a growing democracy, a more mature &
Thoughtful reflection for our future choices,
As a civilation of humanity is made
Up by each person, and then nations

As we all become more of who we are individuall-wholistically
    Authentically, and with the
    Help of nature.
More free to be who we are, inherently.

Embracing the air while strongly anchored deep in the roots
Of time. See how unified we already are with the trees, plants and animal kingdoms!! 🌳🍃🌿

Typing from my phone 📱 today has made my text strange – as. My phone keeps adding its own renditions.

Today I am hopeful ~ something beautiful here is growing and it still may be hidden in the tree! Oh. What a beautiful painting. Unity with life.

    Much love to you, Ka

Yes something beautiful is happening in the world.. When we step back and really see how the world is changing.. When we look beyond the suffering, the pain the scars.. we see its really growing merging together .. The refugees have suffered.. Yet they merge our nations together showing us that the future races of Mankind will no longer have labels.. Its a way off yet before other wake up.. But each leaf lends itself to the growth and Regeneration of the whole.. It may fall, but its passing is not without its merit.. For it is through History, through our learning process.. Those worms, grab a hold and pull what is discarded back to process it into something good to nourish the roots of future seeds that fall..
Each generation has its part to play.. We are witnessing yet another part within our Changes.. And I feel 2017 will herald in many changes.. Not all we may perceive as being Good. But each a lesson within our growth.. I am excited that the feminine energies right now are gathering momentum.. Compassion, Care, come about often through adversities and suffering being revealed..
I know too our Animal kingdom right now are feeling these changes.. The Whales hold a vibration.. and are sensing those changes too.. Have you heard the news from Australia of them? Sad.. but each are shedding, leaving, as our vibrations shift and change..

Much Love and I loved your symbols from your phone. 🙂

Wow! the image of those worms, yes. This life cycle. Today i have more acceptance than yesterday, but nothing relies on my acceptance. Last night the whales spoke up to me, yes – and I had not known of the news in NZ of the pilot whales beaching until today. I’ve had a longtime connection with NZ and whale kind in my heart. Whale strandings now at Farewell Spit – the Northern tip of NZ’s south island. How do all these words read like a story written, woven, as those the place-names even tell the tale. Hugs, Sue, sister. I am grateful for your presence in my life. Aloha~nui~loa May there long be better days ahead.

Yes long ago I posted a channeled piece when I connected to spirit A guide came through to speak and spoke of the whales and their parts in the world.. They warned us back then that when they chose to depart, their parts which they played within the vibration of their whale song around the earth would no longer be needed.. I think this is one of the largest exits I have seen.. And the point of which they chose to exit Farewell Spit is but another Sign..
Love and Blessings Ka.. and we sing off the same page.. ❤

Fascinating artwork coupled with intriguing ideas that involve all humanity. This are the forces that will assist mankind in new ways of living.
The power of the creative is within each of us. In some it manifests outwardly in the world without hesitation while in others it gently rests within until such a time that it may explode and expose itself to all creation.

Mankind definitely needs to begin an extensive campaign of taking care of this beautiful earth we live on. Mankind needs to become more understanding of others, more loving, more compassionate.

I just love your paintings, Sue. Sweet. Isn’t hazelwood also good for fashioning dowsing rods? We don’t have it here … Somewhat wistful dialogue, some great conclusions. You would love all the humpbacks and their babies out playing in the ocean here, these days. So fun to get out there with them occasionally. Dear Sue, of course nothing is ever lost. All our memories are imprinted somewhere … All the more reason to make them as consciously as we can at the time. Blessings, dear one ❤

I used to be able to do psychometry, not strongly, but I would get good impressions.. 🙂 We are so so much more than we give ourselves credit for.. 🙂 But you know all of this.. 🙂

This series was lovely, dear Sue, and you weaving your own life experiences and creativity into the parable made the whole richly rewarding, I felt. The tender moments of recalling times with your father touched me, as did the carving of initials into the bark of Beech trees — something I and my friends were sometimes guilty of as children living in the heavily wooded Chiltern Hills, renowned as they are for their Beech woods in particular. All parts of this story have now become One. How incredible! Your painting takes my breath away. I just love the beautiful colors and intricate watercolor! I also love the messages in your story – you’re quite the storyteller. I just love all the visions and images that came to mind: how we’re a spider web and anything we do to it, we do to ourselves; how we are all energy – connected, collective energy. Oh how I wish – and I know this is my desire (along with many other folks, but still – it’s in my own mind) – how I could magically make people see their own light. Hehe. But really, in all seriousness, we don’t come with instruction manuals but we do come with an inner knowing. Part of the process of awakening, I think, is when we get in touch with that inner knowing. With love.
I will always believe that love wins. Those who choose to turn away, I hope, will one day realize its power. I think many people are awakening – like you’ve said – to this love. But, we still falter when we awaken to this love – when we act without thinking. I’m certainly guilty of this.
But, in the end, when we’re in touch with ourselves, in touch with our hearts, then we will be as one – and so connected, just as in your story.
Wonderful, wonderful writing here. Sending you hugs!

Dear Cynthia.. Yes we have to believe that Love Wins always.. We are waking up to seeing that we have to change. When more of us re-connect within ourselves and open up our hearts they will see it is our hearts that will help alter that vibration.. That Vibration is what we all of us need to reconnect with.. Which is LOVE.. ❤ Many thanks dear friend for your wonderful contribution of thoughts which you have left me on each of my posts.. Each are playing their parts in helping us see their are many ways, many paths, many creatures and many forms that go into the Whole of the growing of the Tree.. I read your post last night and then life took over before I could respond! But here I am and I read it again and I feel so good about the journey you took us on, Sue. And for it to culminate with the ending of the poem with the finished painting is…PERFECT!! Your beautiful tree, full of branches that weave like the tapestry of life, is so beautiful and so representative…just like your words…of our connection to each other…our connection to the Divine! Spectacular work, Sue!! Bravo! Thank you for the blessing of walking with you ❤

Many thanks dear Lorrie for that beautiful comment.. Yes we are all of us upon that journey.. Like the branches of a tree, each walking our own particular road we sometimes encounter others who are meant to guide us and keep us balanced holding us so we do not fall.. At other times we may lose our footing and feel vulnerable as we feel the branch crack beneath us. So we shift our balance and we move to another stronger branch for support..
It may be that at times the whole tree begins to sway as the storms in life seem to topple us over.. But our roots keep us firmly anchored..
And if the unthinkable should happen and we fall.. We know that nothing is lost.. For we begin again the cycle.. always growing, reaching upwards towards the Light..

I know we like the world may be feeling out of balance right now.. but it is only asking us to dig deeper into the core of our hearts..
Sending much love to you my friend.. I so thank you for reading and the effort that takes when one is not well.. Love and Hugs.. Sue xxx

        Your response made me cry…
Not tears of sadness…nor tears of happiness. More like tears of truth! The painting is beautiful and your journey with words has been captivating. I feel so connected to you and I am grateful for this feeling of knowing you…and for you knowing me! It is a very volatile time and I sometimes find it so hard to stay in the love energy because some things just seem so wrong to me. But just as I must release control in my own life, I must also release thinking I have any control over others! In the end, I pray that the energy of light radiates and brightens the darkness. I know it will…I’m just not sure when. But I also know that we can’t stand idly by and watch without extending our energy out.
        Thanks so much…FOR EVERYTHING ❤

Awww.. I did not wish to make you cry Lorrie.. There are so many things I wish I could explain about both dark and light.. You are now undergoing what I feel many are experiencing as we shed, cleanse, and regenerate our physical and nonphysical bodies to align with the many Earth changes happening which are occurring more rapidly that our outer bodies are not always catching up .. For me at this time I am finding myself sleeping deeply.. My senses are in overload at times about the world, which is why I withdraw from time to time.. Merge back with my own inner creations and visions of thought.. Like you say so much energy reverberating around.. We are often caught unawares and we bubble over with our emotions of tears, be it injustice, or sheer frustration at the folly of others and their actions..
But we are all of us part of the whole.. Each of us are now more aware, and are all of us moving, shifting, within the streams of consciousness.. What will be will be, according to where we are upon our Tree… Keep hold of those HIGH vibrations Lorrie.. For it is seeing that LOVE and HARMONY will Unite us all. and All who are ready will join as one..

Love and Hugs my friend.. ❤ and thank you so much for the energy you bring here.. I feel your love ❤ Blessings Sue xxx

I’m so happy you can feel it…because I’ve got it…I am radiating it through all of this journey…the dark and the light 🙂 I have to say that I feel such a shift…internally. I feel so much better equipped to deal with it all…and I am grateful for it. And I am grateful to have our connection, Sue…I just feel so comforted by your words…always!
I know…what will be will be…and land there is a certain peace at accepting that. All I wish is to continue learning…growing…and sharing 🙂
            Blessings my friend♡♡

Yes in our acceptance comes peace.. Trusting that the Universe does Have a plan.. But also remembering we each are playing our parts within it.. So long as we hold our vibration at the highest we can.. And continue to send out our vibration of LOVE, as we try not to judge and condemn.. For we live in a world of duality.. And without the Dark Shadows we would not have the experience of the Light..
And I know from my on experiences, that it has been the times I have worked through shadows that have illuminated me and pushed me to reach higher for that Light..
So too the world is going through this cycle.. :-).. The Feminine is uniting through her compassion and strength.. I see it everywhere.. So Smile.. For all is well in our world.. ❤ xxx

You know how sometimes you see a beautiful work a friend has done and you wait for the right words to come up before you write, simply because you’ve enjoyed it so much and think that every phrase you come up with is just not good enough? That’s been the case here and I keep coming back… well, guess what, the right words aren’t present still but I can tell you this, every time I come back, I see more, enjoy more and appreciate even more your beautiful work, my sweet friend and all I can say is Thank you for this and send a big big hug! 🙂 xxxxxx

I just got a free minute tonight and stopped by to check what’s new. I see you have been painting and implementing your wise philosophy in this painting. Thoughtful, true and honest story. I like when things are not too sweet and there is left some space for imagination without saying absolutely everything. Or painting everything.

What an inspirational story I love how you say that the scars didn’t prevent the tree from growing and all the layers of growth. The painting is absolutely stunningly beautiful.
Love the elderberry. We too gathered the berries each year and took the berries off and made wine of it in our first years here in NZ. It was delicious.

Beautiful, Sue! Yes, we are all connected, we ascend from the same source and although separate we are all connected through that source. If only everyone in the world knew this and accept it, then there would be more love and love comes acceptance and peace.

The painting is wonderful, Sue! It has so many meaningful layers in it…each part has a story of its own. I’ve seldom seen such a picture with a message crystal clear yet so deep and dramatic. I love you so much for your feelings and attunement with Mother Nature…she is the one who keeps us alive..she is the Ultimate… ❤ ❤

Thank you Laura, for your kind and wonderful feed back of my writing.. I am delighted that you stayed the course and read to the end.. It has been your comments along with others who have enjoyed that have inspired me to continue writing my insights.. I know there was and is more to come.. about the Elephant, and the Aquatic life. But thought it best to conclude and save what else the Elder shared at a later date perhaps..
In the mean time I have been busy painting and absorbing in again All that Nature is telling us..
Love and Blessings and thank you again Laura for reading.. I am very appreciative of your comments 🙂

Well… Sue… it’s not that you haven’t gotten enough comments on this post… but I must inflict my own thoughts within the mist of others…

A magnificent, intriguing painting… I have wandered within it… pondered the thoughts that spring forth from it… lingered in its meaning… wondered within its magnificence to the point of thinking that my most resent post has been proven to be ‘imperfect’… for I might have discovered that one can indeed… paint the ‘beautiful’ within a dream.

Oh… have I fallen on hard ground many times… though I remember all so well those times that were self inflicted… yet I will forever climb the tallest of trees. As I age, perhaps the fear of falling is magnified… yet, I wander in the thoughts of the most beautiful of visions… the most exhilarating emotions… that come to one in the tops of trees… while I reach for that first branch… offering itself to me within my struggle… I can climb above the brume… and then reach my hand down… to lift another…

You have journeyed with me… along the path of my poetry… and you know that I have often written of those very scars of which you speak… sadly inflicted by me and left behind… so imprinted upon my soul… of those of which I have absorbed from others… left behind in the shadows of a tattered soul… yet leaving me with wisdom of which I would not have gathered without them.

Perhaps within my vision to the eastern horizon
Gazing into the dawn of a new day
    I will see you there
Where we might share upon the branches… our memories
    From the tops of trees…

A most beautiful day to you Sue…

    Michael

      Dear Michael.
Thank you so much for your most profound and touching comment my friend.
Yes our fears never leave us, we are always climbing, always reaching out.. But we are always growing.. Growing from our mistakes. Growing in the knowledge we gain, Growing as we learn to leave behind our wounds as we continue to grow despite them.
Our roots are held firm in our faith.. And we learn to let go of trivial things as we see the strength of our core as we know what is most important in life..
All else falls away.. When faced with challenges..
Michael you have seen and learnt more than most.. But like the Elder you have grown.. Far FAR more wiser than from one who failed to even begin the journey to climb the tree you have been striving to conquer..

I know if it be our wish my friend.. We will reach out among the leaves as we ascend our tree of life.. To meet in that eternal sunshine ..

Thank you So so much for your wonderful contribution you have left me here Michael.. Your words brought tears..
Love and Blessings to you as well as continued healing wishes..
      Sue xxx ❤

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love...
