Shine Your Light

Photobucket

Sometimes I think we need a reminder of how good we have it compared with others around the World. Yesterday I re-read my annual thank you letter from the

Red Cross and also Save the Children as they showed me just where our donations had gone last year and the projects and people they had both helped.

We often get so caught up in our snug little worlds as we sometimes seldom take a look outside of our own four walls at the plight others find themselves in.

The poem I am about to post I wrote in the middle of last night as I couldn’t sleep, maybe as the images of those less fortunate than myself were whirling around my head..

The poem was obviously inspired as the pen never left the page and I didn’t pause for a seconds thought as the words wrote themselves..

So I would like to share my light with you..

Shine Your Light.

From time to time along our way

We need to speak and have our say

In order that the lights do shine

Other people we need to remind.

Of all the folk whose lights are dim

Where struggle is hard and life is grim

They need to see beyond their walls

That many more in darkness toils.

The little beggar boy on street

In India who has no feet.

In Africa where wars still rage

And children starve with wide eyed gaze.

Where hope is lost and villages run

From evil men with drugs and guns

Yes time to time along the way

We need to speak and have our say.

Of Shanty towns and orphan waifs

The suffering is endless case by case.

I could go on and list some more

But maybe you would shut the door

As in your bubble you nicely live

You need to see you need to give.

If not your money then add your light

Open your hearts and see their plights

Look further than the end of your nose

And my words will count as poem I pose

If just one who reads my lines

Opens your heart to let it shine…

Upon all those who are less fortunate than you

Your light will brighten the Worlds dim view

So dare to step outside your walls

And lift the darkness from serpent coils

Compassionate thoughts will add their swell

So come on give generously

Open your hearts see what I see

For when enough of us really awake

A better land then awaits

Where all are one and all are free

All I ask is

Shine your Light

With me.

I agree with Lady Jude , one of your best poems and its obvious why as it comes deep within your emotions , it is full of compassion and understanding while at the same time is a sublime teaching for all to appreciate those less fortunate , beautiful Princess

Lots of troubles everywhere, I don’t think that can be changed dramatically by poor people donating money to other poor people who are even in a worse condition. It is a fantastic thing to do, but the sea of tears is so wide and so deep … The things that must change are global: the only institutions to resolve this are the global society with clear awareness about the real values which we are not seeing at all and the governments in power which have taken the responsibility to manage the life of each country. Until it is what it is, there will be always plenty of poor, starving and dying from curable illnesses. The change has to be dramatic, strong and completely global, and it might be underway already. When the world becomes a place where everything is allowed and especially it is taken over by greed, the result cannot be good. The human history known to us so far tells us that there are certain principles and rules that have to be observed and followed.
You have a big heart, Sue. You never forget people who are doing worse that you. I wish you strength and lots of good energy because in order to give, we need to have received it first, so that there is enough bright light to always share with others.

Thank you Inese, yes in part I agree no amount of money is going to change situations, it is we as a whole who have to change our ways of being..
Yet without these two in particular charities the plight of many more would be so much worse..
So I will keep on adding what I can when I can, for I know they are at times the only life line some of these struggling people have in the world..
In an ideal world we would not need these organisations.. But then our world is far from ideal. And yes as you say corrupted by greed and power in which those who seek merely the basics are always the ones who come off the worse.

    Beautiful poem Sue 🙂
All of us need to see the world, as it is and learn to act from this.
We can all do something, if not money, then be creative. You are right.

Such a wonderful and poignant poem, Sue! Yes, we need to start in our own little world and it all starts with an open heart. Then we see so much more and everything else follows. Have a great time in Scotland. I hope I can visit that beautiful place again one day soon!

Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue. ~Buddha

Sue, I say this to you and I’ll say it again. Your words are wisdom and pure motions from your heart. I love this poem and its one of my favorites by you. 🙂

With so many poor and desperate in the world is it any wonder refugees and economic migrants die in their thousands trying to reach our shores??? 😦

We have it easy here in comparison to where they live… 😦

It’s so easy to get into a bubble and only compare yourself to those who have it better. There are so many that have it worse. It’s important to consider each blessing in your lives. And try to do something for those who aren’t as fortunate. Great poem, Sue.

Sue, I loved your beautiful poem. We often take for granted the simplest things in life that should we be without would certainly be devastating; things others have to live with always. Thanks for spreading the beauty and the light. ❤ xo

This is incredible Sue. You have captured in words what I feel in my heart, we are so blessed that we have been placed here. The wars and poverty innocent children face is hard to imagine and heart breaking. Thank you for writing this and for shining your light and for encouraging us to shine ours too 💓❤

Bless you dear SG.. we all of us shine our Lights, there are many Lights out there, its just a pity that those who rule and lead our world do not always share that same Light of vibration we hold in our hearts.. But it is we who with our compassion, love and caring will help shift our world to where it will come together in unity.. So many innocents are suffering, who are in need, while the few at the top prosper through their greed..
Love and Blessings and lovely to see you and thank you for your comment.. xx ❤ Hugs Sue

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
