When you focus on your Dreams~Anything is Possible.

How can I put into words just how you’ve made me feel?

That you brought into prospective my life and all that’s real

You’ve shown me with your courage, your stamina and true grit

With a will as strong as iron that you are not prepared to quit

~~

Despite the odds against you and the challenges you’ve faced

When you focus on your dreams, we each can win our race

We who cheer you on, see only the final score

We see not the tears and pain your story held before

~~

You’ve trained so hard, achieved so much, obstacles you’ve overcome

Each of you are winners even if medals were not won

I’m humbled by your wit, your charisma and your charm

You’ve shown me and abled bodied, just how disabled it is WE are.

 ~Sue~

The above poem I wrote last evening after watching the closing ceremony Each evening over the last couple of weeks, I have been inspired and humbled at how these wonderful Paralympians have faced their disabilities and turned them into amazing achievements.

It has been my utmost privilege to cheer them on from the comfort of my armchair to see how their attitude of mind, determination and courage to overcome what to many of us would seem the end of our world.

Yet despite all they have been through, they have put themselves through gruelling regimes of training schedules for the past few years to enable themselves to be picked to compete for their various countries.

Thank you for your inspiration, I am truly proud of each and every one of you who took part and all of those who behind the scenes made it possible..

But most of all..

For You who said YES I CAN and who made your Dreams come true.

Congratulations to ALL who took part around the World.

And Well Done Team GB.

Yes, they have touched a place within that I think I would most certainly tremble at Sue. They have achieved above and beyond even an able bodied athlete’s schedule with all that they need to face, and then some.
If that isn’t an inspiration to us all, to achieve something like that, when it must have felt like just some far off dream is right up there with the best. To create that, beating incredible odds into the bargain, is an amazing feat, and my heart goes out to them in that self challenge, and the challenge that they face in this world on an every day basis 🙂

So true Michnaves, we are blessed to live in an able body with functions in command.. Also some of these athletes were once abled bodied, some in tragic accidents, others suffered strokes, or at a young age lost limbs.. As well as those born with their disabilities.. We are indeed Very Blessed.. Thank you so much for this lovely response xx

We had a few hero’s in the paraolympics but our big favourite is Sophy Pascoe who won three gold and two silver medals. She know her from the primary school where my children went and she was already passionate back than. A real athlete

There is nothing quite as powerful as seeing someone achieve, and then asking yourself “what would happen if I gave such an effort???” It is where inspiration is born and how the world can and will improve over time. Inspirational words that I too feel Sue.

Your poem is a wonderful and fitting tribute, Sue. Oh that it could have been read at the closing ceremony! But what also struck me about your poem was that it speaks to everyone, not only those with terrible physical disabilities but also to those who perceive they have a disability – something holding them back from what they truly want to achieve. It inspires everyone and could be something you keep and refer to each day in those moments when you really need some inspiration.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love...
