Follow your Heart

Butterfly in oils

Butterfly in oils a small Painting I did over the weekend as I experimented with oils.. ( not my favourite medium ) but I am happy with how it turned out. Even though my camera skills need much to be desired 🙂

Butterfly, Butterfly, Dancing on the breeze

You flit through the heavens, and among the trees

You fly through the air, like a leaf upon the wind,

Tumbling and turning, beating your soft wings

~~

The meadow is your haven, with flowers of nectar sweet,

I watch you fly to heaven, while I sit upon my seat.

Your message of transformation, as I let go of old

And I watch your new freedom as I ask to be bold

~~

My sorrows held within me, as again I give a sigh

You hypnotise me with your beauty, as you fly on by

You whisper in my ear, to trust in all that’s good

For your lifespan is so precious, so live it as we should

~~

You never waste a moment, searching for your mate

For time for you is limited, yet here I hesitate.

Teach me to trust and let myself fly free

And push away the dark clouds, and let myself be me

~~

The Daisies are many, gathered all around

Each one pure perfection, pushing through the ground

They nod their heads together, all in unison

Their fragrance on the wind, smiling at the Sun.

~~

Nature at her best, she neither worries nor does toil

She just keeps on growing, and pushing through the soil.

And even when the ground is hard with all the frost

The flowers push on upwards, and nothing is ever lost.

~~

And so my Butterfly, as at last you’re flying free…

Of caterpillar’s drudgery, of munching under tree

I know you hold a lesson for all of us to share

Your wings are made in heaven and are beyond compare.

~~

And when we see your beauty, we’re reminded of all good.

How each can transform our lives, learning how to love.

So flit around the world, and spread your love and light.

For when I see you on my path.. Then I know I’m alright.

 ~~

The above poem I wrote in 2011, I have witnessed many butterflies since the time of writing when I was at a lower ebb in my life.

We are all of us transforming right now, as we flit through our various stages of evolution.. The Butterfly always is a great reminder to me, that it was once a caterpillar munching among the cabbages, not knowing there was a whole new world beyond the cabbage patch ..

But it needed to pass through its own stages of evolution before it transformed and flew..It never worried when it spun its cocoon around itself.. It just went with what it’s instincts had taught it to do.. It just went with the flow..

I am just going with the flow, and trusting that as we hold the Light of love in our hearts we too can help transform the world..

Keep the light of Love in your hearts

More artwork soon to follow

Love

~Sue~

Sue, your words are beautiful and so true to life. I thank you for them, No different now than when you wrote them in 2011. As for your beautiful painting of the butterfly in oils, it’s truly lovely, capturing the essence of the butterfly as she flutters among the beauty of nature’s flowers. Thank you together with many blessings, Sue.

gorgeous painting. I have not tried oils yet, but hope to learn. I saw the first butterfly of the season a few days ago. It was a small yellow one ( forget the name) and I engaged with it with my being. We are always transforming, and going with the flow, oh what a lesson that is.

I await more art and creative musings and relish what you have already contributed.

Thank you Linda.. so pleased you have had an encounter with a little yellow butterfly.. lots to be read into that.. Yes the only thing I do not like is the amount of time oils take to dry out.. and still some of painting is not yet dry.. But I had to give them a go..
I wonder how long those oils take to dry that are applied with a palate knife so thick? must takes weeks to completely dry out.. Which is why I love my acrylics 🙂

I have painted with acrylics in art class in high school. I liked it,but have not done much painting since except water colors. I love the result of oils, but no experience ( in this life). I feel I have been a painter before…. I did not know about the drying process. I so enjoy your boundless and diverse creativity.

Such a wonderful painting and poem:) I think you are absolutely right about the need to go with the flow with no worries. Worrying don’t hep much or it does not help at all, it just makes us anxious. But from time to time it’s hard to keep this in mind, in this world… But I manage to do that more the older I get, that is one of the great things with our evolution through life. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Love and hugs

Great painting and poem! 🙂 (and…though 2011, might I say, what my heart calls me to say, knowing it will land upon kind and generous spirit ears/eyes, here?)

    The line,
“My sorrows held within me, as I gave a sigh..” really grabbed me – and after some thought, truly do not believe it ‘projection’ on my part (but you are free to say so… LOL)

My answer? Butterfly will dance, dip and sway while you stamp your feet on the warm spring earth (barefoot is good, but Mother Nature is strong, and she’ll forgive you your work boots stompin’, I’ve found – – “) One of the best ‘mantras’, stories, perspectives – whatever you want to call it – I have ever embraced, was this –

“What is not working can be given back to the Earth – for Mother Nature knows so much better than I how to recycle it into something beautiful and useful, even though it’s keeping my stuck, just now…”

LOL – – Thanks, Sue, for puttin’ up with me – I’m 1/2 way through the first 72 hours of quitting (for the second time, this life) smoking – so figure, you’ll know what to do with this comment – for the sake of everyone!! LOL

Yes, been stompin’ around barefoot, alot – – LOL

Haha.. Never change Tamrahjo.. Never change.. Well 72 hours wait until it reaches 172… 🙂 Hope the ground is firm around where you are stomping! would hate to see those boots all covered in mud.. 😉
Mother Nature is very forgiving.. She will replenish what we have destroyed .. And So soo Good to see you here and as for putting up with you.. Do I have a choice! hehe.. Great to see you my friend.. and I know I would much rather the smoke come from your ‘ears’ than from out of your mouth 😉 lol.. Happy Quitting .. 🙂

Those items were working fine, FINE! I tell you, for years!! LOL – but picked from around 9pm (when I broke the first one and decided to give it up for the day) – And 8am the next morning, when I pulled out the trusty-not-fancy-back-up from the draw, which promptly fell to pieces – LOL

Ahh…THANKS for saying the air was blue – such a generous spirit you are – but I must disabuse you of such kind thoughts of me – for it was such a shade of midnight purple, it might as well have been black, with green and red sparks flying out to zap any innocent passerbys – I am happy to report that both the doggie and the mentor who has arrived to teach me the arts of electrical wiring – are both alive, and were unharmed by the 5 second storm, before I cussed a simple blue streak and got myself back under control, sailing out the door with a muttered “oh – you’re here already, okay – gotta run to the store, be right back” – and then stomped, HARD, all the way to the truck – (on frosted ground – so hard it jarred my spine up into my teeth – and felt much better….) LOL

    Hi Sue,

I love that painting of the butterfly…it is looking as fantastic as your thoughts.
The rhythmical movement of your words match with that of this beautiful butterfly…often I think how it got this name…what is buttery about its beauty! Probably it lies somewhere in its transformation, its flight of liberation and the inspiration it provides to us through its struggle to flower into such a matchless creature.

I admire your abilities of understanding the messages of Nature so well and compress them into such a poetic form…many thanks for bringing them out to touch our hearts. Thanks for sharing your profound thoughts. Stay blessed. 🙂

Both poem and painting were done separately .. I love butterflies so as my painting was an experiment it is only a small painting..
I then thought I would post and looked in my archives for a post on butterflies. and came across my poem again.. When I look in my post section I thought I had wrote it in 2011. but it went further back to in years too.. 🙂 But they married well.. and I am so pleased you enjoyed Jack.. thank you _/\_

To find such a treasure again and to share it us ~ the incredible painting and your poem from five years ago ~ “And even when the ground is hard with all the frost, The flowers push on upwards, and nothing is ever lost.” Sometimes I think this is the best feeling at the beginning of the year to have, a sense of rebirth ~ or with the butterfly a simple transformation…all which will happen if, as you say, we follow our heart. Great words to start of the week ~

Many thanks again Randall.. Yes Nature always inspires.. For she carries on regardless .. She pushes through just being her best with what she is given.. Which is why I so admire those who have nothing.. They do not spend time moaning about what they have not got.. But get on with life thankful for what they have.. Which can put many of us to shame..
Thank you again my friend.. So loved your visit.. As I enjoyed my own to your post with stark reminders of times past where Hearts were frozen ..
May we all learn from those times of places like Dachau and remember the quality of life as we learn never to give up or give in…

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
