Challenges~ We all face them.

We are so lucky, those of us here within the WordPress Community, we skip around our various friends posts, viewing and visiting far away places, as we share ideas, dreams, insights and visions.

Our lives may vary in culture, distance and ways of living, yet I am sure we count ourselves lucky to be free to choose among the variety of life gifts we are privileged in sharing in our everyday lives..

I am also taking on a small challenge as I was listed in Ka’s post HERE in a 3 quote challenge While I have stopped receiving   awards, I am always up for a ‘challenge’ and my 3 quotes reflect people who overcame tremendous challenges in their lives and turned their lives around to make theirs and others better along their journey to Freedom..

I have long admired the man of this quote, and have read much about his life and his journey upon this Earth Life  While I was enjoying the Swinging 60’s this man was suffering his long prison sentence for daring to ‘challenge’ the establishment on its treatment of black people. And this is a Quote many of us throughout our lives can relate to.

“I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.”

Nelson Mandela

My next quote is from Nick Vujicic

Nicks challenges have been huge, born without arms and legs it didn’t let it stop him from showing others there are No Limits to our capabilities.. What a recent Video here of Nick shows he Never gave up and now has a wonderful wife and child and he has inspired many to overcome their own personal challenges.

So many of us allow Fear to stop us from striding forward into the unknown, we came here to experience LIFE!..  I hope we Live more in our Now moments and enjoy all Life has to offer.

Which is what I am doing this Summer as I embrace each brand new day.

My Last quote is what I have had upon the bottom of me email for a few years and it says..

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi was another remarkable man, who brought Change to his world,

a few more facts about his life can be found HERE

The Challenge of creating a New World which holds more Peace and Love than Fear and Hate falls upon All of Us..

If we hold Anger, Hate, and judgements and let the few who hold terror and fear over us, then we allow them to win.

We need to alter our own ways of BEing to bring about Peace and stop our own Pettiness and squabbles. And show LOVE overcomes HATE and that PEACE begins in each of our Hearts..

Great examples of people who live beyond their circumstances and challenges. I wonder why some of us rise to our challenges and some of us falter. Thanks for the reminders and encouragement Sue.

I often wonder about that too Brad.. maybe we are all here to teach one another.. and without those of us who fail.. maybe they inspire us to win and fulfil our Blue-prints.. For we would not know the Light if we didn’t have the dark.. So too in life we have good and bad.. Winners and failures.. Happy and Sad… living within this realm of materialism and emotions and feelings.. we need opposites to learn from to grow..

Sometimes our Greatest teachers are our Greatest Enemies..
Love and Blessings Brad.. and I am enjoying Summer.. are YOU?.. Hope to catch up very soon.. xx

A very fine trio of quotes to contemplate Sue, and I particularly liked the one by Nick Vujicic. Most of us fail to realise how much fear we have retained and built within us over the years, and perhaps only when faced with the very deepest of challenges to our beliefs do we begin to see that it was always there. Yes I agree totally Hariod.. often Fear can be instilled in subtle ways disguised in layers of teachings.. Its not until we peel each layer back to reveal the ‘Truth’ we then see how influenced society has been by these methods of old.. May we each learn to dig that little deeper within our selves and see the true light within.. Always so pleased to receive your comments Hariod.. sending Love and Peace your way ❤ Sue

What a bouquet of inspiration I am waking up to,
Sue, on my second day in Johannesburg, a beautiful part of the country, the freedom of which Nelson Mandela earned, after an epic struggle, for his people. Whether the people are equal to the responsibility of building on his achievement is a question that may not be easily answered. At best it ought to be a work in progress, as Gandhi responded when queried if his work was over upon attainment of India’s freedom; he said, ‘the challenge before us is immense, to wipe every tear from every hungry and suffering eyes; the task may be beyond us, but as long as there is hunger and suffering, so long our work is not over’. Life truly is about reaching beyond fear imposed limitations, overcoming challenges seemingly beyond one’s circumstances and resources, as Nick’s story would illustrate for yet another time, served so promisingly with the bunch of sweet peas from your garden…best wishes..

I so hope you are enjoying your stay in Johannesburg Raj.. and yes let us pray his work is in progress and will stand as a legacy for future generations to honour all that he worked for to be put in place.. Gandhi is another man I so admire .. Loved what you said.

“Life truly is about reaching beyond fear imposed limitations, overcoming challenges seemingly beyond one’s circumstances and resources,”

We are all charged with the task in overcoming the obstacles within our paths.. Fear being the one we often forget has many faces..
Thank you Raj.. Yes the sweet-peas are out in abundance this year and the perfume is wonderful..

Sue another great post. That lets us know how fortunate we are, inspirational people and quotes you have given us.
One I like on fear and I don’t know who to attribute it to.
‘A coward dies a thousand deaths a hero dies but once.”
Fear can freeze us up or give us a great adrenalin buzz.
Fear is instilled into us, by our laws, “if you don’t behave you will be punished.”
By our leaders, “If we do not arm to protect ourselves we will be invaded.”
If we do not obey Gods commands we are threatened with hell.
We do not need fear threats and commands all we need is caring and sharing unselfish love. It is so easy you get what you give, you know this I have experienced it why can’t others see this. I do not know about karma after death but it sure works in this life._/\_

Jack what you have said here is very true. We have become so accustomed to this way of being we do not see how Fear is being instilled within our psych from such laws and rules.. All for the purpose of control.

It is so easy you get what you give, you know this I have experienced it why can’t others see this. I do not know about karma after death but it sure works in this life._/\_

Yes what goes around comes around as I have said before Jack.. and what we are seeing happen around the world is this not what we have as a society been creating in the last few generations. Within our Films, TV, Video Games.. the acts of Violence, etc.. We can not expect children and teenagers to grow in love and caring and sharing when we as adults pay them no mind, sit them down with video games etc that require them to Kill off the opponent to score points.. and then expect them not to embrace violence, bullying, and worse when their minds get indoctrinated within the various mind controls at work..
We are as a world now reaping what has been sown in the past.. and until we change our ‘Mind sets’ and understand our thoughts give out energy and create ALL things.. then the world is set for more upheaval..
Some one once scoffed the idea that we create with our thoughts the world.. I asked them to look around at everything within the room, their clothes, jewellery, paint on the walls electricity to turn on the light, water into their home.. All were once but someone’s thought put into action.. We are all of us now reaping those thoughts of Fear. And that is why I added Gandhi’s Quote I love so much that I know you see so well

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

And why many more should study the Eightfold Path as you do Jack .. _/\_

I like the one about fear. Recently, I am beginning to realize how much is built on fear in this world. There are many behaviors which seem to be love at first glance, but which originate from fear.

Karin, I agree, so much of our thinking is based around the Fear Factor.. We learn it from a toddler, in school, and are constantly being bombarded with Fearful thought patterns that we are not even aware of their origins. Each then depicts our behaviours Even within the Bible we are taught the Wrath of God.. The Sinner! and the Consequences.. yet contrarily told we are forgiven our trespasses.. 😉 But I will leave that discussion alone! LOL.. 🙂
Sending a Huge Hug.. and thank you Karin for reading and taking the time to comment.. I appreciate your visits.. ❤

Oh yes! I knew it was Nelson Mandela before I saw his name at the end. Such a beautiful man and of course Ghandi one of my heroes: ‘An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind’ Nick I have seen just the once before, but a friend was born without legs or arms, just little wings instead of hands, she is now married to a partially sighted man and is a loving angel. I believe that our challenges are set in motion before we come to Earth this time round and it is up to us all to meet them as best we can. Love, David

Agreed David.. we have our Blue-print in place well before hand I am certain.. Some follow it, while others waver and some just maybe throw it away and disregard it all together.. But like all roads we travel along.. we may detour from our intended course for a while but all roads eventually lead us home.. Some just take longer and are rougher to walk upon than others..
And something else I have learnt along my own present path David.. is its often those who choose the harder path, who are here to help teach us how to overcome the obstacles in life.. For without the Bad how would we know Good.. And if we did not experience Dark, How could we know there was Light.. All things have purpose even if at the time we may not see it..
I just hope out of the ashes the phoenix will rise and bring with it a brand new dawn whereby we all learn to fly… 🙂

All inspiring and encouraging quotes and reminders Sue! I often feel there’s no lack of knowledge in our lives any more. What makes one story remarkable over another is the application of what we know. This becomes evident even as I watch myself acting through the day making small choices, sometimes letting laziness ride despite the knowing. The stories you’ve shared are phenomenal, depicting incredible courage in the face of adversity, ultimately touching many lives. I join hands and hearts with you as you spread the message of peace around and hope that many will apply as they learn. Much Love!

We need to be mindful of our thoughts and treat ourselves also with love and kindness for all our actions contribute to the whole of our experience.. And the World is but a Mirror of our collective Creation via our thoughts..

Lovely to see you again PR.. and hope all is well in your world.. Love and Hugs.. ❤ Sue

Hi PR, I was struck by your statement that we have the knowledge, but must apply what we know, as I find this to be so profoundly true in my own life. The knowledge alone becomes stale without the embodiment… To live by what we know is the great desire and the great opportunity we have in this world…

Awww.. thank you Ka.. I posted late and did not get around to telling you.. 🙂 and I did several drafts versions before I was happy!.. There are so many wonderful people with wonderful Quotes but Nelson’s was fresh in my mind after recently watching his film.. ” The Long Walk to Freedom”
And yes do many ‘movements’ in the world in need of LOVE <3.. We have to understand that what we send out via our thoughts adds to the vibration its sent. So if we sent hate, anger, and judge.. we are doing no favours for the world's Peace… We need to be mindful, and not allow Fear to control us, or Anger… We are on the cusp of a vital Tipping Point within our Evolution.. And I think you also know dear Ka that how we react contributes to the whole..

” may we endure all things with LOVE”

I so agree with you Ka.. and Thank YOU! for giving me this challenge.. May we all of us now take up the challenge of Tolerance, Harmony, and Peace as we Unify our thoughts for a world where by we live in friendship and not Fear. x ❤ ❤ ❤

Sigh.. yes ramping up Fear is their game plan.. but we can not allow it to swamp our lives.. So sad to hear your neighbours suffered such a loss too.. When you think of what the world creates in the form of ‘Violence’ is it any wonder we are reaping what is sown.. One only has to look at TV, Films, Video Games, Cartoons.. Kill kill Kill.. is their themes.. What we think! is what we have created. and if we keep living within FEAR then fearful things will keep happening.. We forget we are all of us Co-creators of this world and All of us have a personal responsibility in how we Think! and Act..
And if we want change to happen. We are the ones who need to change our attitudes and actions..

Many thanks LG.. and apologies for the long rant.. 🙂 We are our own worst enemies by the thoughts we think! ..

I love all the quotes..I saw Nick on a television show not long ago–He really lives a life of hope and faith. He’s right about the fear. And, yes, we should live as much as possible to bring about love and peace. Father God says “in as much as possible, live in peace among each other”. It’s not always easy esp if someone mistreats us and yet if we can manage to forgive and move on, we, ourselves will be much happier and with less conflict and turmoil. Great post hugs.

A lovely batch of quotes, Sue! I resonate with all of your choices, but am struck in particular by Nick Vujicic and his statements about pain, brokenness and fear. I noted above a brief reply to Precious Rhymes about my sharing of her recognition of the difference between knowing and embodying the ideas we carry within us– living by them let’s say. And I think it is fear that causes us to shrink from the full embodiment, at least it is for me… Fear seems sometimes like it comes in endless layers, like we’re excavating down through geological strata to find the gleaming heart at the center…

Thank you for an insightful and inspiring post!

    Peace
    Michael

Hi Michael.. I just am on Ka’s blog at the moment and clicked like your comment there on that unique meditation lol..

Yes I agree.. we have got so ingrained with FEAR and at times its even very cleverly disguised .. We need to peel away like layers of an onion..And until we learn there really is NOTHING to FEAR but fear itself.. And how we are all being subjected to its power.. Lovely to have you visit Michael.. I have yet to catch up with Many of my commentators here, as I have not been doing the rounds, I have been enjoying Summer.. 🙂

Just popped in to say hi Sue. I’ve just returned and catching up. Beautiful quotes and tributes. I think many of us can certainly identify with Nick’s quote on fear. And Mandela is correct – our long walks have yet to end for freedom and its responsibilities.
PS – Just started reading The Journey by Brandon Bays. I’ll get back to you on it. 🙂 Peace and love to you. Deb

🙂 Thank you Deb.. and The Journey I can say I really enjoyed.. it helped open my eyes to many things we keep buried from that Very Young age, which then creates within us the Adult reactions and emotions we hold on to… I am sure it will not disappoint.. I hope to catch up with your good self this week… Hugs to you.. Sue x

Hi Sue, I may have commented here already. It’s particularly poignant to me that you chose Nelson Mandela, and this quote. I have not had a moment to allow this memory more time to surface until now, and am grateful for your blog post and quote:

“I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.”

    ― Nelson Mandela

When I was in South Africa, I visited Nelson Mandela’s jail cell on Robben Island. I stepped inside his open jail cell, and I felt my whole body ask for the level of clarity, patience, and tolerance that this man expressed. His ability to overcome public perception, misunderstanding, and wrongful arrest. When I learned about the “Truth and Reconciliation Committee, ” when I walked to the museum to see all the street signs that were remnants of neighborhoods that were confiscated by hate, I was angered with righteousness. But what empowered me, what really took my attention, was the inspiration from the “Truth and Reconciliation” committee. Seeing what we humans can do when we put our minds to it. Leadership is amazing, and an unpredictable thing. I think Leaders are made by life, and they just “show up.” I think communities need them, but even more-so, I think communities make them. I think energy makes community. ❤ I'll be back again. I'm not finished reflecting here. Aloha, Ka

Ka.. this is a wonderful comment.. This is such a profound reply.. What an experience to stand within those walls which must ooze so much of his energy. Which shows how the Flow of thoughts Manifests.. I need to write a post.. I was given a challenge today by a new follower and newish blogger.. on Love and Hate.. I may take her up on it and define my own thoughts on how we manifest such within our thinking..

You said it here .. ” But what empowered me, what really took my attention, was the inspiration from the “Truth and Reconciliation” committee. Seeing what we humans can do when we put our minds to it. “..

And that dear Ka is the crux of it.. our Minds.. and the Power of THOUGHT.. 🙂 now I have a few more visits to do this evening, then get my writing Hat in gear.. I feel another ( Challenge I need to rise to ) Lol. ❤ ❤ So lmuch Love to you xx Sue

A beautiful and heartwarming post Sue, you picked three great people and thir quotes, each has a story to tell in their own journey in life, an example to all of us who feel depression and despair at time.
Your flowers are a beautiful tribute Sue.
    Kind regards.

I’m impressed that you find time to read any posts and write yours so beautifully and prolifically. I stopped by to thank you for following my blog. Yours has so much more value. I just read the one on Albert Einsteins letter. I loved it. There has always been so much controversy about the Universal force. I always tell people that what we call God speaks only in the language of Love. That’s all it’s about. Love. I have a lot of exploring to do here. I’m still trying to explain somewhat coherently on my blog that what I’m in search of is really a spiritual quest. Just haven’t figured out how. You have a wonderful blog and I’ll be perusing a great deal. Lots of love to you.

Thank you so much for you kind compliments.. And please no blog has more value than another Yours is wonderful….. We all of us contribute, putting our love and energy into our posts…Thank you for visiting Albert Einsteins letter.. Its been my most visited post.. and I posted merely to pass on that love. And was shocked at the controversy it caused.
Some did not see it that it was all about sharing Love, and put their own values of internet click baiting as the ethics behind the post.. They obviously have not read my blog LOL.. 🙂 Hence the comment section I closed due to abuse.. Seems its still being shared around though as it still get the most traffic.. LOVE it seems still has the greatest pull of all :-D..

There is no doubt that I will. I think we are much on the same frequency. Me thinks the poor lass that made the awful comment had a stick up her derriere and no love in her life. Poor soul. You could feel the venom pouring from the page. It saddens me. The old adage that if you can’t say something nice, don’t speak comes to mind. Love is a drawing force as well as a driving one. Wonder why that was the one I happened to click on?? Hmmm.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
