Grasping the Handle!

Photobucket

When a door opens, walk through it. Trust that the door has opened for a reason and you have been guided to it. Sometimes we have a tendency to over-analyse or agonize over the decision, but it is quicker to simply go through the door and discover what’s there as that’s the only way to know. Even if it doesn’t seem right at first, opening this door may lead to another door that will take us where we need to go.

Doors open when the time is right for us to enter a new space, metaphorically speaking, and we can have faith that walking through is the right thing to do. Sometimes we linger in the threshold because we are afraid of leaving our old life for a life we know nothing about. We may have voices inside of our heads that try to hold us back or people in our lives saying discouraging things. Mainly these voices are our doubts, as we hold onto the familiar in our lives..

I have a very stubborn streak inside of me, and have clung to the familiar because I fear insecurity. And have stayed in jobs too long, and suffered with stress and put up with obnoxious bombastic bosses who revelled in clicking their fingers to make me jump, and I complied with how high, because I was always trying to please and cope. And I failed to use one little word… “No”.

Because of my mediumistic skills some of my colleagues and acquaintances often seek advice. Thinking I perhaps should hold some magic key to show them the correct doorway in their lives helping them make their correct choices.. I wish I did have a Magic Key, for I would have used it long ago.

But what I do have is my intuition.. I know when something feels right, I know when it feels wrong.. And the biggest thing I have learnt to do is to TRUST those gut feelings.

So my advice to anyone who is embarking on going through a new door in their lives is to ‘Listen’ to your ‘Gut’, not the voices of others. And if it Feels right then dare to step through your door and see where it leads..

Several Years ago I dared to step through a door to an alien world of working with disabled people. If I had listened to my fearful voice, If I had listened to others, I would never have made the change and I would have stuck with the career path I had been on for the best part of thirty years….I stepped through the door.. And what a wonderful world I found.

(I have now chosen another door as I take time out this Summer to enjoy all it has to offer. As I reconnect with my Qi-Gong, and Art. I will still be posting but not as often as you may have already noticed.. And I hope to try to keep up with all of my most loyal supporters with your posts in my ‘block’ visits that many are now used to. 🙂  ) In the mean time………

There are many doors that open in the course of our lives, leading us into new relationships, jobs, friendships, and creative inspirations.

Our lives up to this point are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces. And as one door closes another is always opening..

I’ve found that when I hesitate, and hover in the doorway, I neither move forward or back. I get stuck in the middle. And I’m reminded of the quote, “He who hesitates is Lost”….I need to once again grasp the door handle and push the door open and step forward with the faith that what awaits on the other side is meant to be.

Every time we walk through an open door, we create a sense memory that encourages us to move into the new fearlessly. Each doorway is like a new chapter in our lives.

When we enter the new space, we almost always feel a thrill and a new feeling of confidence, in ourselves and in the universe. We have stepped across the threshold into a new life.

Embrace all Your Doors in life..

Treasure The Journey.

Oh yes I do relate and then some. Because of my childhood, I too tend to cling on to the familiar for security reasons. Yet I am learning to move through those doors when opportunity knocks, some with my Heart up in my throat in near panic, or others I sail through gently. I have a saying as well …. IF you don’t at least try to move through a change, how else will you know what could happen (for the better), or what you could actually do? I Love you, Sue!!! (((HUGS)) Amy ❤

Boy can I relate to the stubborn side you mention. 🙂 While you talk about doors I’ve called them forks in the road but same thing and yes, we must listen to our gut,not our heads which are too analytical for these decisions.

    Have a great summer,, Sue.

Lois, I know your own ‘Forks’ in the road have taken you along some twists and turns.. And the last door/move you made must have taken all of your gut instincts to follow through. I know you know you made the right choice. And I am also sure your new neighbours are so pleased you moved near them.. 🙂 Love and Hugs my dear friend.. And yes Summer is being enjoyed to the Max 🙂

Great metaphor on choices opening out in the course of life’s journey, and the importance of timely decisions, taking calculated risks on the way. Where we dither, we invariably suffer, as life progresses through trials and tribulations associated with challenges, and successfully overcoming them. Enjoy the vista beyond the door you are about to pass, Sue…best wishes,. Raj.

This so speaks to me. I often hover in the doorway as well. I always lean toward security, and find it difficult to walk through those doors…I’m getting better at it though. I remind myself these doors are open to get me where I’m supposed to be.

Yes, I have never been one to blinding crash through any door, I often hover in the doorway too.. A path well trod and all of that, I ponder often long and hard while still holding the handle before I gather the strength of will to push it open.. I listen intently to my inner spirit and can and have done talked myself out of walking through a door..
Yet at other times I have not listened long enough and plunged straight in, and regretted my hasty actions.. KNOWING what ‘Feels’ right is the key.. which we must all place within the locks each door often presents to us.. When we instinctively Know, we then push on through 😀

I love this Sue. When I was younger I was cautious around doors that opened. I would analyze and try to figure it out all the options rather than listening to my heart and intuition.
A few years back I decided I was ready to walk through. Its funny how more and more of the right doors open when we get the hang of it 🙂

Great post , Sue! I am experiencing this, too. Doors open when we are meant to walk through. And sometimes doors close when it is just not in the divine plan that we go a certain path. It just drives me nuts that I am not able to figure out why on Earth some doors keep closing even though I want something so much. I better stop thinking about it and start to surrender.
    Blessings,

And you have hit upon the theme of why doors open and can often feel closed…

And sometimes doors close when it is just not in the divine plan that we go a certain path.

I have found also Karin that when we are within the ‘Flow’ how opportunities arise much quicker also, as we learn to stop resisting/closing doors/ we then allow opportunities to manifest much quicker which then open up yet more doors along our pathway..
Some times the Universe grants us our wishes.. You said

It just drives me nuts that I am not able to figure out why on Earth some doors keep closing even though I want something so much.

The Universe is giving us our wants.. To Want something means we are Kept WANTING it.. Your last sentence hit the nail on its head..

I better stop thinking about it and start to surrender.

Once we do surrender within the flow, then how much easier the doors open and present themselves to us..
      Lovely comment, Blessings Sue x

We hear the hushed little voice whispering at the back of our head, prompting us to follow the wisdom of the body and its guiding ability. Then conscious thought intervenes more loudly, and the questions come, the doubts surface, the reasons to play safe materialise. I find that pausing all thought when procrastination appears, and returning to the quiet wisdom of the body, allows me – or rather the body – to make the right choice more often than not. Lots of love to you dear Sue, Hariod. ❤

With you with a stubborn streak too and I have come to realise I am an awful resistor – something I really have to deal with! I resent having to move forward if I never planned it that way, rather than just go with the flow. I am learning!!!! I never used to be like that though, when younger I just called it a New Chapter now, I think past hurts and experiences have just caused me not to trust the future and to just want to keep safe….that hasn’t worked very well for me I see now lol. xx

Michael, so lovely to have you visit here over the weekend.. And I am so pleased you enjoyed this posting.. And yes I am blessed with some wonderful readers who leave me wonderful thoughts.. And I am also pleased to hear you are grasping the handles as you keep on pushing open those doors..
My art took the form of my sewing machine this weekend, as I set about altering some new curtains I purposely bought too large for a window for a bedroom, so I could make some scatter cushions to complete a look.. I have some spare fabric left over I wish to cover the base of a vanity chair with also.. So my art brushes were substituted for my sewing machine this weekend.. Among other things.. But I breathed in the fresh air and sat out in-between showers.. As well as managing to visit the allotments and weed among the onions.. 🙂 All to be revealed on my Gardening blog later this week 🙂 ( she says 😉 )
Wonderful to have you visit.. And THANK YOU..

Doors have been cropping up a lot recently! Not least because trying to open them with a bad hand that’s just had an outrageously big needle stuck in it is a breath-takingly painful experience at the moment! But that aside they’ve been popping up in all kinds of contexts on blogs of late and oddly in my night-time dreams 🙂 Possibly linking to my delving back into a half finished blog post regarding doorways to other dimensions and a long lost related quote I recently tracked down 🙂 Then again there were also triple rainbows in the skies of Spain or Morocco (???!!!) in the mix and a huge rainbow surrounding the whole planet like the rings of Saturn…link to a possible future blog post possibly but not sure what they had to do with doors! Keep stepping through yours…they will lead you to wonderous places you would never expect to find yourself! Wolfie hugs xx 🙂

My own doors have taken me back in time this weekend.. As I got out my sewing machine again.. ( Thirty some years in textiles and sewing ) yet I rarely sew these days.. Knit, crochet, paint, garden, LOL.. So I treated myself with the Gift from the I.R. 🙂 and bought new curtains, which I got purposely too long, which I cut to size including altering the linings.. and made scatter cushions with the fabric to match a bedroom.. I intend to re upholster a chair too 🙂 with the fabric to complete the make-over..
I hope you are taking Care of YOU! .. Thank you for your wonderful Hugs. sending Loads back to you Wolfie.. Love Sue ❤

Oh, Sue, it was like you wrote this post for me. 😀
You know, I had quit my teaching job in 2012 because I was quite unhappy. I had something else lined up but it didn’t pan out. I relied on savings to get me through. I was going to be a writer and artist, by golly.
But life had other plans. With my savings depleted, I had to find another job. And it was another teaching job. I thought I was done with that, but no…that job was where I was supposed to be. Because that job was part time, and I liked it, it rekindled my desire to finish my master’s degree.
But then, after finishing my master’s degree, this new job working with after school kids came open.
I love it! But yes, there are still days when I think, “I want to be autonomous! I want to create!”
I’ve come to the conclusion that when an opportunity presents itself, you must take it. That’s where you’re supposed to be at that moment. There are lessons and reasons that we can’t know until we have opened that proverbial door and walked through.
Will I become a full time writer or artist? Or something else?
I have no idea. But I’m content where I am now…and will continue to pursue my passions in my free time as I’m able…and as soon as we finish moving: just two more weeks and everything should be squared away (and the process of unpacking can begin).

    Whew!
Sending many hugs, much love and lots of light your way!

Dear Cyndi, How lovely that you dropped in again, Its wonderful to see you.. And yes I agree with your thoughts

Being content where you are now.. as you have said is what keeps you within the flow.. And as you embrace more of the same contented feelings then doors keep opening for more of what we are manifesting.. Wonderful knowing you are still continuing to pursue your passions, Good Luck with your Move and I hope all goes smoothly for you all.. Hugs and Love returned dear Cyndi.. ❤ Big smiles.. xxx

Great lessons here my friend. It is written when one door closes, another one opens. It’s often difficult to see the good coming when we still feel the wounds from the old door closing. Good reminder for us all to leap past the threshold. And good for you Sue getting yourself some time to smell the roses. I’m fairly sure I’ll be taking your dare soon! xo 🙂

Ha! I never leave home without a journal. Leaving sans laptop will be a huge challenge. I’m very close to saying yes. The only problem I’m having at the moment is that I can’t open my dashboard on my website from my smart phone (not so smart). I need to at least be able plug in a drafted post while I’m gone, so I have to find out why I can’t log in.) If I can rectify that I’ll take the challenge. Incidentally, I mentioned your dare and website on my last post. 🙂 Thank you friend.! ❤ 🙂

What a beautiful and inspiring post- I recognise myself in so much of what you say here! “Every time we walk through an open door, we create a sense memory that encourages us to move into the new fearlessly” That is an incredible line, one I have written in my journal and will look at daily and allow it to ingrain into me! Thank you for the wonderful reminder and inspiration Sue!x

Big smiles that I have inspired.. 🙂 And sometimes we forget our own ‘Power’ as we dither too long and agonise over something important.. When really when we touch base with our instincts, we already know what is in our best interests .. When we connect to our inner knowing.. 🙂 Love and Blessings Laura, and lovely to have you comment.. 🙂 Sue

Great one DW….! Yes, those pesky doors that stand before us all awaiting our key and turning the knob…If we listen as we are supposed to, usually things will move along easily on our journey, but if we don’t listen and take another route to get us where we are going, that is right as well. It may be we are meant to take that detour and learn what it has to offer us. There are NO wrong decisions, that is so important to remember. Glad you are enjoying summer and your garden and your grand daughter…Have a wonderful time and stay at peace within 🙂 Sending you love and hugs…VK

I don’t believe anyone has a magic key, my friend, for certainly everyone would be using it but I do appreciate your words that are a truth most of us should follow. This year, for me, has been one of “open doors” through which I have went time and again not knowing what is on the other side. Thus far quite new and different changes very unexpected but I just keep going one day at a time. The house is now on the market and we will see what is on the other side of the door that lies ahead. Do take care and enjoy your break. xoxox

Well said Sue. I was just watching a show where a character was saying how he wanted to make mistakes because then he’d know he did the wrong thing and he wouldn’t spend his whole life wondering. I think it’s important to try and to leap even if we fall. Sometimes the fall is where we find out something we never would have otherwise. 🙂

This post is good advice procrastination and fear prevent us from doing many thing.
Love and trust are far better investments in life.
The quote this post prompts is ‘The coward dies a thousand deaths, the hero dies but once.’
It is a good idea to look at statistics when assessing danger, e.g. out of all the people that swim in the ocean how many get attacked by sharks, then consider did they swim in places known to be infested with sharks. This does not mean that there is no need to take those gut feelings, that are based on common-sense seriously.
Sue I wish you success on venturing throw the open door and am pleased you are taking the time needed to do so._/\_

Yes… very true Jack about statistics.. And for every negative event in the world. I know there are many more positives… We are only amplifying the negatives because we are being shown them day in day out. I am throwing open the door Jack.. realising that Freedom comes from within as we give ourselves permission to ‘BE’ 🙂 And its no good looking back saying I wish etc… The time of creation is NOW… So I am following my gut and going within the flow of where it takes me..
Many thanks Jack for your precious comment.. _/\_ Sue

Here is a few words from a book I am reading called ‘A Rough Guide to Mindfulness.’
Quote ‘The moment when we pause and and bring our awareness from the outside consciously inside, we can open the door and look inside— this is what we call insight.’ This book may interest you Sue. I though these words appropriate to pass on._/\_.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
