Thats a lot of ‘Wonderful’ but that’s what you are..

Wishing you special Christmas Blessings to both my faithful followers and to the new bloggers who have started to follow my posts.. May the gifts you receive be what you wished for. But more importantly are the gifts you give of yourselves as you share your hearts, your love and your kindness among others…
These are the true gifts each of us await to receive.
I will leave you with  a poem I wrote way back in 1996, and shared last year, but its still relevant today as the day I wrote it..
  Christmas-Scene-christmas
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS.

Christmas is a busy time for the likes of you and me.

We dash about, scream and shout, then decorate the tree.

We rack our brains to buy the toys

For all you girls and boys

There’s T.V. Adds, Computer fads, well done the manufacturer.

Then we stand and queue,.. yes to buy that last gift voucher.

Tinsel, glitter, party frocks. Jingle go the tills.

Buy now with your plastic cards, its later you get the bills.

Oh where is the Christmas Spirit?

Oh where is the Christmas joy ?

It’s hard to come out smiling, when Argos has sold the last toy.

At last we’ve wrapped the last present. Santa is packing his sleigh.

The mince pies are out of the oven. And Rudolph’s carrot is on a tray.

Children sleeping like little Angels, after promising to be good.

Mistletoe hanging in the hallway, waiting for the one you love.

It’s five am. “Has he been?” As Santa’s sack goes bleep!

Squeals of delight on goes the light- No more chance for sleep.

Wrapping paper thrown aside. Laughing smiling faces.

Turkey, stuffing, Christmas pud. Sweets and chocolate traces.

Good will to all men. Peace on Earth. Christmas carollers sing.

We all of us have special gifts, each of us can bring.

A pleasant smile. A warm hello. A caring helping hand.

These are the gifts we all should share, to spread across the land.

Kindly deeds. Caring thoughts. Bidding all good cheer.

Christmas Spirit has many forms. Lets make it last all year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

    Hey Sue D,

Somewhere between the beginning and end of your beautifully sentimental, seasonally festive, prismatic, and dare I say nostalgic prose of Christmas good cheer, I distinctly recall a childhood memory from Christmas past…I was 5 years old, blonde haired, blue-eyed and bubbling with high expectation for a magical Christmas Day. Mum had put us to bed early that Christmas Eve – allegedly we had to be asleep when Santa called – but with my enthusiasm at bursting point and my eyes wide open for the chance to catch Santa pinning my Christmas Stocking to the bed-post, there was no way I was going to sleep. I think mum had been up and down the stairs more times that night than ever before in a bid to assure me that Santa hadn’t yet been and no I wasn’t going to be forgotten, and yes I had been a good boy all week! lol Although delirious with lack of sleep, and tired with the constant rush of adrenaline, I remember the clock in the hallway striking midnight and listening to the last chime echo through the quiet house when of a sudden came the distant sound of cloven hooves on the roof! And voices, and laughter, and plenty of Yo Ho Ho’s! But now, to tired to climb out of bed and suddenly far to nervous about meeting Santa (lol) I pulled the covers up over my beaming smile, closed my eyes and disappeared off into a haven of dreams.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the house, Dad folded away the ladder extending into the attic and handed mum the two coconut shells to place back in the toy-box in preparation for next year 🙂

That year I received a Cowboy outfit fashioned in bright red and gold and came complete with a six-pointed Sheriff’s star, and a ten gallon hat…it was perhaps the best present I could have asked for.

Thanks for the gentle journey down memory lane. Heady days indeed 🙂

Sue, I think others have already stolen words from my thoughts to express their appreciation of your kindly friendship and your ever-present gentleness and compassion. And so, I will leave you with warm best wishes for a fantastic Christmas, and a sensational new year. Take care and God bless.

Dymuniadau gorau ar gyfer y Nadolig a’r Flwyddyn Newydd 2015!

Dewin.. what a lovely memory to have recalled.. and one similar to my own.. Santa was heard one Christmas to heave the sacks into the house.. With a deep Ho HO HO!… Merry Christmas, And Bells jingling… where upon my younger sister ( I am the eldest of 5 ) shouted Has he been… It had snowed outside and my siblings ran to the bedroom window to see..
Dad shouted upstairs.. He’s Been.. and the mad rush of feet stampeded down stairs .. I remember in the hallway,, was a lovely trail of snow.. and footprints up the steps on the path that let to nowhere.. My Brother Who was astute asked my parents why did the footsteps stop, as he’d viewed from the upstairs window.. Quick thinking Dad replied well the sleigh was hovering.. 🙂 there was ooos and arrrghs… LOL…

My Dad rang me every year on Christmas Eve to say Ho HO HO!… in his deep Santa voice…
and every time I hear that phrase I am reminded of him…
Thank you Dewin for sharing your excellent memory.. And Many thanks for your well wishes for a lovely Christmas and your compliments of my posts..
Have a Wonderful Christmas and May 2015 be blessed in all you do..

Lovely poem Sue and most true! Since we decided to pare down our Christmas this year we have had a most excellent time enjoying the processes rather than running around like chooks with our heads cut off. No racing around to visit anyone, no crazy made baking events that last 4 weeks, no overt consumeristic shopping, all handmade or thoughtful gifts (Karcher spray cleaner anyone? 😉 ) this year and an elegant sufficiency of food that will predominately be consumed on the day without having leftovers that bleed into 2015 going slightly off. No panic, no terrors, just enjoyment this year and I get the feeling that’s how we really should be celebrating Christmas, pared down to the bones and enjoyed for it’s own sake :). I heard something that made me twitch on the news yesterday. They were telling people to swap over to specific credit cards to minimise their credit debt…if you have to rack up a credit debt to afford Christmas, might be time to succeed from it methinks! Your kids are not going to remember going without for a day but they might remember the year that it took you to recover from Christmas Day debt! Make something, be careful with what you have, ask for help but DON’T rack up credit card debt this year…

Yes so many go into Debt for Christmas and they never get out of it as they dig themselves into deeper holes.. And its not my way.. never has been.. If we can not afford something we do without until we save up for it.. That has been our motto since we got married in the 70’s and its the same today..

I bet you got more out of making your Gifts and your girls will just adore what you have both made.. Something to cherish and treasure always, knowing each stitch and each plane of wood has been done by your hands but more than that.. Its the Love that has gone into making them…
The message of Family at Christmas has gone out of this commercial world into Gadgets and Things.. The biggest and Best..
Here people are out doing each other with outside Christmas Bling.. Where does it stop..

When you bring it down to the bare bones.. Christmas is about the Gift of life.. Love and Family.. And so many forget the gifts they have every day around them..

So many in this world will be spending Christmas in war torn terrifying conditions… Homeless, ill , alone..

We are very blessed… In all the gifts we have.. And you Narf so understand as I do that nothing can replace the blessings we have with our loved ones each and every day.. xxx ❤

You just hit the bare bones of the true meaning of Christmas Ms Sue :). We are so very lucky to be allowed to be still alive on this precariously turning small blue planet out there in the stratosphere and in places where wealth and opulence are affordable. How amazingly lucky are we? 🙂 I think we are both blessed with knowing that. Something that many people miss in their quest for happiness. Being grateful for what you have and your lot, is the first step to true happiness 🙂

Thank you Kim.. Yes its been a very quiet one but full of love none the less.. I managed to fight off a cold the week prior to Christmas.. determined it was not going to get me.. But alas it took hold on Christmas Eve and I ended up in bed on and off over Christmas… But feeling brighter now thankfully.. Lots within our community came down with the nasty virus..

I hope you are feeling Stronger too Kim.. and had a good Christmas Holiday too..
I am just popping on here to catch up with my comments and will be back visiting very soon..
Love and Blessings your way xxx
