A Matter of Opinion~ Judgement & Trust

dont judge peopleIt’s been so very interesting reading your various comments upon my last post. ( An Awakened Man- Interlude) I am still basking in the compliments. I’m so  happy you liked my creative interlude. Happy smiles…

Your opinions are all so very special to me and I was especially keen to see your reactions upon the chosen Video.

It got me thinking!!  Big smiles- always dangerous as my thoughts flit around my often empty caged mind to jingle the keys to inner questioning of ourselves, and our actions.

So as my thoughts take on another muse it got me thinking how easily we judge a book by its cover. Or a group of people by the label given. A Sect by their beliefs. And just how quick we all are to give labels and judge.

I wonder  how many of us dig beneath the surface and uncover the reality of what we are presented with in our everyday lives?

Our judgements are usually based upon opinions often gleaned as we assemble information. But how do we gather that information?

Have you noticed how often our Media News repeats certain sentences? Key words are driven into our subconscious minds hourly??

In the past I made a judgement  of Russell Brand which  was based upon how I had gathered my information about him. I had seen him act in a couple of films and quite frankly I disliked him and the films.( My opinion only)  I also disliked how one of his crazy pranks backfired which hit the headlines. So my ‘opinion’ was gathered upon the information I had access to. Which I drew an opinion on that he was Wacky and an hyped up  eccentric!

It wasn’t until his famous interview on News night by the BBC that I actually found myself listening to what the man was actually saying as he hammered home a few home truths as he hit the nails on their heads of the political circuses we have.

After that several topics of his crossed my path. And I found not only was I listening to his views but also I nodding my head as I was agreeing with many of them. I was also saddened to see how many so called intellectuals within the Media world gave him various labels. But isn’t that what the Media does folks ?

I nodded in  agreed with- We do live in a multi-dimensional world whereby we rely upon our 5 senses. Most have lost the ability to tune into our 6th sense of our Ethereal world. Most do not follow their own intuition. But rely upon the herd. I am sure we share our reality with many various multi dimensions we are totally oblivious of because we simply can not sense them.

So I was not surprised when some didn’t watch the video And some disliked the Man. While others  like me had changed their opinion of him once they really listened and found out various more facts about his life.

All of us Judge one another whether its how we  dress,  we are put into categories  too thin, over weight,  whether we are Gay or straight, what colour is our skin?  or we are judged by our past mistakes. As we label and discriminate.   It doesn’t define who we are.

People often assume mainly because they are conditioned to base their opinions by what is presented as a whole. And if we are told it long enough over and over again. We believe it to be the Truth. But what is Truth?

Some one somewhere draws an opinion and judges. I do it every day. We All do.

Everyday we have opinions  I respect that we have Free Will that entitle us to our opinions. Where would we be without our free thinking minds. . If we all thought the same we would all bleat along in a boring herd of conformity. Blah blah.

Speaking of sheep -Have you noticed how many mind numbing game shows are now on TV? Hummm??? And how many childish advertising campaigns reel in the viewer??  Just a thought I would throw in as I jingle my keys at you again 🙂

But often our opinions are not based upon our own gathered facts. But are based upon others who have judged and made an opinion. We are Told statistics were gathered.  We are told many things and we trust the powers that be wouldn’t lie!

We join the herd because to disagree often leaves us alone, out in the cold, subject to ridicule. Classed as different,  a trouble maker. So we keep our opinions to ourselves.

The point of this post is to ask yourself a question.

Do you make your judgements by trusting what you are told or do you really find out your facts first?? or do we listen to Gossip??

We are told lots of information via the Media. We Trust that information to be correct. But what if its not? One person resigned her news post because she knew she exposed Her News Channels collaboration of deceit and lies..  Take a look here.

We Trust that our politicians have our best interests at heart. They should. WE vote them into powerful positions to govern us to protect our best interests and we pay them handsomely for doing so.

We Trust care institutions will Care for our elderly and infirm. Not always the case.. See Link HERE

We Trust children’s homes care for the vulnerable Not always the case.. See link HERE

We Trust Priests to be Priestley.  Not always the case .. See Link Here

And yet many times these same bodies of people abuse those in their care. Corruption has crept into many places. Coming from the top down. As it appears those in high places have been covering up the Truth for years within these various institutions.

We have lots and lots of information now at our very fingertips. But is it always  Fact?

Before we make judgements we really should get to look beyond the cover.        And dig up our own Facts… The Media is being proved to withholding deliberately Facts..

I have a spare spade if ever you want to borrow one.

Now I’ve weeded out some more of my thoughts. I’ll let you get to work on some of your own.

Love and Enlightenment.

Enjoy your New Week in the New Energies of the Full Moon..

 Thank you for reading

~Sue~

Truly we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Media is just completely fabricated [imho] so I never believe a reporter’s ‘fact’. I always thought that the eyes are a person’s mirror so I usually get my ‘info’ from there, but that’s not such an accurate method! In Brand’s case, he was ‘too loud’ for me as a character to take a closer look, and as it turns out, I was wrong. Welcome back [?], my dear Sue!!!!
Happy Monday and a wonderful new week. Hugs xx 🙂

Yes, I don’t currently listen or read anything you would call “news,” for the reasons you mentioned. The news is what happens when you look out your window, and go through your day.

I think the worse thing that the media does is remove us from our neighborhoods and communities that we live in and we now think that is NORMAL!

    Anyway, great post!

Hi Sue, It has reached a point where they don’t care what we think anymore, and our last free refuge, the internet, is about to be choked and manipulated to suit their agenda’s.

    Look here… http://www.huffingtonpost.com/maira-sutton/what-the-topsecret-tpp-ta_b_5567981.html

    Here… http://www.huffingtonpost.com/search.php/?q=tpp&s_it=header_form_v1

    And here… https://www.battleforthenet.com/

We are about to lose our ability to ‘see’ around the world, and our ability to understand will begin to be really manipulated by commercial and political powers to such a degree that we will no longer really know what is happening around us. And in more ways than one.

Insightful post Sue! But like Russel, not being a political animal and despairing of the existing systems and the corruption that it generates what frankly is there to judge? In fact having worn the robes previously I have no wish to judge and try not to. I take his many points but if anyone entered politics in the hope of changing the system they should think again, which is why I admire his energetic work to try to save the planet etc., on the outside. Hi Sue, it certainly is easy to judge a book by the cover and I think we all have done it at least once (it’s natural too, I think). I am glad you found out more about Russell Brand as he actually is quite intelligent. The way he uses his cleverness to teach people about addiction actually fascinates me, and I admire his honesty about his past battles. Thanks for your post and I’m glad we make you smile with our comments too!

Plenty of food for thought there… 😉 I’m definitely not a sheep…unless I’m one in Wolf’s clothing lol However I have noticed the media seem determined to brainwash us all into believing this World Cup Final (Football) was the best one in history and the teams played tremendously well…when the reality is that it was probably the most boring Cup Final in history and the teams spent more time rolling round on the ground clutching their precious football legs than actually kicking the ball and scoring goals….I take it they wish us to forget just how many 1000s these football pansies are actually being paid…but oh no! The media say it was absolutely wonderful beyond all comprehension so the rest of us must be seriously deluded…

For me it’s the world of appearances. Imagine if we were all blind, if for some reason eyesight was one of those senses no one possessed. I simply wonder if the world of appearances has much to do with our eyesight. Wouldn’t we have to work harder at judging people? What is it about appearances that makes us so visual and therefore judgemental at first sight?

      A very good question Maria,

What is it about appearances that makes us so visual and therefore judgemental at first sight?

Again its taught behaviour, Many are taught that to be wealthy for instance is better than being poor.. to see a beggar on the street insights a reaction of revulsion in some.. ” How dare he Beg” kind of attitude. I have seen the look too when I used to take out Adult who had learning Difficulties, who had problems with speech or walked funny, or who slavered … What people Fail to notice is what lays beneath.. When they see a downs syndrome adult they stare and then look away.
Times many I have been out supporting such individuals and have seen people literally cross the street to avoid contact.. I have heard them mutter their opinions with words such as ‘Retard’ and worse.. One such incident a man I overheard while I was travelling with a learning difficulties adult on public transport said to his companion.. ‘If I had to go out with one of them I would tie it to a tree and leave it there.’… Some hateful horrid opinions of those who in their eyes are not perfect…
Oh would that we were all perfect. We would not be here experiencing our own world ..
To answer your question, I think we are conditioned from early on what to accept and not to accept from the indoctrinations of our parents, their thoughts, the types of schooling we had.. The friends we keep, and the media that plays out its constant recipe of what we should have in order to be part of the crowd…

I look at the poor childrens faces in Africa running around with bear feet, wanting to be educated, with a smile on their faces after walking barefoot for 2 hours to get to their school to learn… I see happiness .. What do you see within the faces of school children within your own country … Most have their heads in their phones! as they walk.. and I do not see that many smiles these days..
Sorry for my long reply.. as I air my thoughts xox

I agree it’s learned behaviour. But there is also the world of “appearances”, don’t you think? Probably, what I mean is a cultural norm that, as you say, has to do with having more, such as being rich, but there is also the “aesthetic” principle, which cultural norms “predefine” for us, such as being “thinner and prettier” predefined aesthetic values ascribed not only to women, but also to men now.

“The earliest Western theory of beauty can be found in the works of early Greek philosophers from the pre-Socratic period, such as Pythagoras. The Pythagorean school saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. In particular, they noted that objects proportioned according to the golden ratio seemed more attractive. Ancient Greek architecture is based on this view of symmetry and proportion.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aesthetics“)

Kant’s theory of “beauty vs.”sublime”. “Kant distinguishes the beautiful from the sublime. While the appeal of beautiful objects is immediately apparent, the sublime holds an air of mystery and ineffability. While a Greek statue or a pretty flower is beautiful, the movement of storm clouds or a massive building is sublime: they are, in a sense, too great to get our heads around. Kant argues that our sense of the sublime is connected with our faculty of reason, which has ideas of absolute totality and absolute freedom. While storm clouds or a massive building might stretch our minds, they are nothing compared with reason’s ideas of absolute totality and freedom. Apprehending sublime objects puts us in touch with these ideas of reason, so that sublimity resides not in sublime objects but in reason itself.” (http://bit.ly/1jGY64l)

According to Kant, beauty is subjective and universal; thus certain things are beautiful to everyone. The contemporary view of beauty is not based on innate qualities, but rather on cultural specifics and individual interpretations.

“Aesthetic judgments usually go beyond sensory discrimination. For David Hume, delicacy of taste is not merely “the ability to detect all the ingredients in a composition”, but also our sensitivity “to pains as well as pleasures, which escape the rest of mankind.” (Essays Moral Political and Literary. Indianapolis, Literary Classics 5, 1987.) Thus, the sensory discrimination is linked to capacity for pleasure. For Kant “enjoyment” is the result when pleasure arises from sensation, but judging something to be “beautiful” has a third requirement: sensation must give rise to pleasure by engaging our capacities of reflective contemplation. Judgments of beauty are sensory, emotional and intellectual all at once.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aesthetics“)

“The 20th century saw an increasing rejection of beauty by artists and philosophers alike, culminating in postmodernism’s anti-aesthetics. This is despite beauty being a central concern of one of postmodernism’s main influences, Friedrich Nietzsche, who argued that the Will to Power was the Will to Beauty.” “(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty)

You make such a good point. I totally “lost an innocence” when I decided to study Spanish – and it was my 2nd undergrad degree! – and I realized how much governments (especially the big, powerful and rich ones) can push around other nations, their people, their laws; they can even do that on their on lands.
Now-a-days, I try not to take much at face value unless it’s corroborated by several sources.
Even still…so many people just don’t know their history…the collective history of what’s happened “before”- and what could happen again if we don’t pay attention.
I keep thinking, though, that enough of us are becoming awakened. I keep thinking that enough of us are in tune to living at a higher level and maybe, just maybe we’ll influence others to be on a higher level, too. 🙂

Yes I am in total agreement with the push around of big powerful and rich ones.. Its not just the governments that use their power to control, Big corporations too wield power and pour monies into governments.. So one has to ask who are the ones who govern? .. While we can not change the world Cyndi, we can change ourselves so like you my friend, I live in hope that when enough of us wake up we can influence others to embrace a better way of living in harmony with each other and within nature.. That at the end of the day apart from helping bring awareness is all we can do.. Much love to you… And I so appreciate your calling in to read 🙂 Hugs Sue

Perfect quote by Mother Theresa to see when I started to read today. I had to go back and read through the comments you alluded to on Russell Brand, he sure does elicit a variety of reactions doesn’t he?
I no longer look to mainstream media for my news and always look for more than one story to get a clearer picture. When I was in high school my history teacher stopped our class to ask what we saw in a picture in the textbook. He pointed out how the textbooks were written to be politically correct and as a result was teaching us misinformation. I never forgot that and from that day forward always looked for more than one source.

Your History school teacher was a wise man.. So much of the ‘Real’ History has been omitted in text books. Especially that which puts our countries in a bad light. The real truth of slavery, oppression and holocausts of mass killing has been omitted, or twisted to put the country in good light and not a bad one.. Were our children to learn how religion for instance was the cruellest regimes in the past with the Inquisition which allowed the capture and torture of anyone about their faith as Heretics.. to name but one thing that is glossed over..

He was a wonderful man, the one teacher that stood out for me all these years. You are so right, we hide the negative side of religion from all we can so as to “keep the butts in the seats” but I think more and more are waking up and seeing what has happened. Unfortunately for Iraq that has been one of the causes of people here realizing the power of religion that can lead to wars. When I was in school we were taught a lot about the religious troubles in Ireland, but I think even that has been eliminated from schools.

There was a time when being part of the herd was the safest place to be. The problem now is that the herd is a little lost and confused. Not having a TV means i no longer see the media hype around advertising the latest gadget or program but i do try and catch up with the news now and then, but the world could probably end i wouldn’t know it for 4 days – erm not sure if that’s a good thing 😉

While I would like to admit to trying to detach from its negativeness the news items I have caught I have let affect me emotionally.. Hence I suppose is what triggered this response as we are being asked to judge people and places around the world by what we are being shown on TV… The truth of these situations is not always being shown so we get a distorted view of cultures and people. We should be thankful we are not the ones walking within their shoes and experiences… For many these people are just wanting to be Free of the restrictions and controls put upon them..

In terms of the media, I contend it’s naturally biased … thus people have a preferred news source based on their biases … that is, people pick the news source that tell them what they want to hear.

Meanwhile, people also show their own bias by automatically disagreeing with the viewpoint from someone the dislike (for whatever reason).

Its natural to all of us to hold an opinion over something,I have no issues at all with voicing our opinions Frank.. and I agree with your comment, the news is naturally biased.. What is happening though within the News stations it seems from my own gathered evidence of reporters on the ground that their news items are being edited in such a way as to give the wrong impression based upon the News channel preferences.. I have found this to also be true when political programmes are put out also..

Thank you so much for voicing your own opinion here Frank.. Its much appreciated ..

Its human nature to judge. Its a survival instinct to make an immediate impression of the person you are eyeballing at any given time in order to make a judgement call as to whether they are a serial killer or a benign grandmotherly type (and OH how many times we get THAT wrong! 😉 ). I am just as guilty as anyone else of making judgement calls initially but I choose to go a step further and ignore my initial judgement call and give someone a chance. Who cares that they don’t wash, have dreadlocks down to their ankles and choose to go buck naked if what they are talking about resonates…same goes with anyone else. Give me pause for thought and I am your willing companion for a given time. Russell Brand was one such example. From the get-go I thought the man was a twat from watching him in movies but lets be honest, a movie roll doesn’t exactly show you the person underneath. Ever watched an interview with Rowan Atkinson? You would think the man would be a laugh a minute but when you see the serious quiet man under all of that Mr Bean humour you start to wonder about just where he pulled that creation from! We all harbour the ability to bore people to tears and we all have something that we are vitally passionate about. Mr Brand has revealed a common ground that I, for one, am particularly interested in. He is honest about his addictions, his battles with various substances and how he is dealing with it all and I am most impressed with his genuine desire to both share and be entirely up front and honest no matter what other people think of him. Most refreshing for a “superstar” methinks. We could do with a WHOLE lot more like him 🙂

Should people delve beneath the dreadlocks. I am sure they would discover a reformed character, one who is trying to make a difference by showing others their is an alternative HIGH than that you get when on Drugs 🙂 Many thanks for your great comment.. 🙂

Hi Sue, I am quite quick to judge, I will admit, although I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to whatever is being judged as well. I tend to over-react, so it stands to reason that I over-judge as well, if that makes sense. I know, I waffle!
I’ve noticed our news programmes over here tripping themselves up with some stories, and on occasions the main part of the story isn’t even told, just whatever is floating around it. I’ve also noticed how whatever we look at, news-wise, it seems to be broadcast from a viewpoint of fear. That I don’t like. They’re now reporting on a blogger being sued for ranking highly on a search engine, for goodness sake!
I think every news story, wherever it comes from, should be taken with a pinch of salt. We’re getting snippets of the surface, and there’s probably far more beneath that we aren’t being told. But, that may just be my over-reactive opinion.
The video you posted about the media confused me, and then I realised that was what it was meant to do! I get there eventually! Sometimes!
Hope you’re having a good week, Sue.

Hi Tom, yes the news is tripping itself up, and the trivia negative posts too are noticeable.. While other important issues are skirted over.. I try my best not to watch too much news, but often come unstuck as hubby likes to watch the news.. Often I have to leave the room, as I can feel my self reacting.. Yes the video was meant to confuse LOL… showing how we are bombarded with stupid adds and repetitive stories of Fearful images .. Have you also noticed now how many Game shows are on TV? I flicked through the other evening I do not know how many channels and turned it off and wondered why I pay a licence fee for 4 channels that had that evening nothing worth watching .. And the other 996! were the same 🙂

Your post rings so true and it is very insightful. Too often we allow others to make our judgements. There is a point when responsible humans must decide things for themselves. We can’t depend upon mass media for this. You really have done an excellent job. Hugs, Barbara

Yes, Barbara, too often we judge and all too often we accept what others judgements are and follow their example.. The older I get the more I see how we label and put out our judgements and yet we seldom seek out the facts.. The Media is a prime example of how we allow it to zoom into our homes and accept what it says as Truth.. I have been aware for decades how manipulative repetitive phrases stay within the mind.. So Fear is attached early on in our lives.. I thought it time for another wake up post 🙂 And I thank you so much for the reblog Barbara.. That you should think I did an excellent job with this post has me smiling even wider… Bless you .. Sue xx

Yes so true Barbara, the peace is often disturbed intentionally via the means stated above.. To find peace we truly have to go within and learn to detach from the Fear we are being faced with, and understand we are all of us eternal beings capable of creating the Peace we so seek on Planet Earth.. But we have to stop buying into the Fear of it…. Many thanks again Barbara… You are very much appreciated.. Thank you Sue

Sue, thank you for your kind words. There are so many people who are in pain and grieving right now. It is important for them to know that the remainder of us care and pray for the peace we so dearly need. Hugs and light, Barbara

To change the world we must start with our own personal actions.
If it is not needed do not buy it.
If we do not want to be brain washed do not watch TV.
If we want peace and respect be peaceful and respectable.
Being mindful of our own ethical actions.
That is all that is need and it is not easy.
This is a worthwhile life long goal to peace and contentment.
There in a lot of poison outside, stay calm on the inside.
May the force be with you Sue Dreamwalker. _/\_

As we all know it is one thing to observe ourself and others in action, but to judge ourself and others is not really in our favour as we are only seeing a small piece of ‘the happening’ and don’t see the whole picture… Only when we are conscious of ALL of SELF will we understand that there is so much more to our being, that is it only an experience that we or others have chosen to play out, unconsciously or not… The word reverence comes to mind, when we can learn to honour ourself and others in all ways… Great post’s IAM reading sue… enjoy the nature… Barbara x

One of the major factors when judging the media, or any subject or situation is to learn to be questioning, unfortunately the days of open beliefs are over, we must now question everything to extract that which is positive, a sad step in the spiritual evolvement of mankind.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
