Looks like you are doing good work hun! 🙂
We have a lot of snails around here this year, there are three large ones attached to the wall under my neighbour’s window – why they headed there I do not know, because there is no food for them there!!! 😦
As I write it is raining and horrible outside and I’m wide awake despite my pills, so sleep will be slow in coming…
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!! 🙂
Love and huge hugs!

She learns fast and remembers everything..

Firstly, sorry I am late to the party in commenting. I have been “flat out like a lizard drinking” all week. I swore I would get stuck into my RSS Feed Reader today and all of that “swearing” seems to be working ;). Love your allotment and your grand-daughter and her gorgeous red hair and that wonderful cheeky grin. Love that you at least let that snail have a bit of a scoff before he most probably went to meet his maker ;). Cheers for the marigold tip about the white fly. My own Sanctuary (what I call my veggie garden) was full to the back gills with the nasty little things by the end of last season and now I know about marigolds I am going to interplant them all over the place. Aside from being pest repellent they are pretty as well :).

Love that expression ” flat out like a lizard drinking” LOL… Don’t apologise, I know you will get when you can, likewise back… Trying to juggle things and make time for the internet and blogging sometimes has to take second… I am madly rushing to answer all comments here before I head off to work this afternoon… I wont be back until 9am.. So I know how busy you are with all you have to do..
The marigolds seem to be working, and we put in pots after lots reseeded last year.. then put them in between the veg, so far no signs of white or black fly, We put lupins in pots too as we know black fly love them.. but they even avoided the lupins… So fingers crossed-Success!
You can also eat the petals of a marigold in salads ( I think ) make sure you look that up before you do lol )

Yes we planted the marigolds in pots deliberately in between the veggies this year, and so far it looks to be working.. Last year white fly covered everything.. Last year the caterpillars were numerous, and attacked our Brussels leaves so much so we had to strip the leaves down..

Thank you OAWPP, 🙂 yes we are lucky in that we store, freeze and I make soups etc, Most of our root veggies lasted us through out the winter… We freeze such crops as broccoli and kidney beans, peas, carrots etc, We have two big freezes and a back up generator just in case!… 😉 ..
Hubby does most of the hard work in the spring, digging it over and I plant seeds get them started in the greenhouse or on our window sills .. Then I go and help weed when I have the time and feel up to it..
Hubby spends 2 hrs a day hoeing which keeps the weeds down And I help, and help water…
My greatest love is harvesting.. I picked 3 pounds of Strawberries this afternoon and some Rhubarb, I came across a recipe for Rhubarb and strawberry crumble I hope to make tomorrow.. So I will take some pics and hopefully share the recipe later in my blog.. Should you ever want a recipe there are some in my Home Recipe section in the header on my blog 🙂
I was at work yesterday afternoon and all night.. but came home and felt like weeding the front garden around our home.. so got that done this morning… But I have relaxed in the Sun this afternoon..
Thanks again for the wonderful comment 😀 xxx

Looks like you have a lot going off. There is something very tranquil about weeding, I always find my self getting lost in thought.
Slugs and snails become a tad of a nuisance this year, I put a load of small plants in the front garden and they have had a proper feast, so much so my plants are looking like twigs, it would seem we have had ripe weather for them to breed this year on mass! Not really sure there is much I can do about my little plants!
My little nephews been having fun in the garden too, watering my pots and giving the poorly tree some medicine …..though there idea of watering often involves watering me and any unsuspecting passer by!

Yes Weeding is very therapeutic Duma, and yes the weather has been just right for our slug and snail population, And they can soon make short work of young plants they like… Try getting some Copper tape from the Garden section to put around your plants or pots, Copper deters them, also they do not like very fine gravel to crawl over.. ..
Don’t you just love the little ones in their enjoyment of water.. Water games are such fun, especially when we adults end up getting a bath 🙂 I have been reading your posts via phone and haven’t got around to commenting yet I will… But they have warmed my heart in that you seem much happier and focuses and enjoying these moments with children and babies 🙂 ;-)..
