Where Has All The Magic Gone?

The Magic is in your Hands

Remember when we were children and we would jump out of bed in a morning with such joy as we greeted the day. We would get so exciting, jumping up and down on Birthdays and Christmas time, and those visits from the tooth fairy, all hold a magical place within my memory.

As adults we perceive things now on a different wave length and those magical make-believe worlds in the days of my make-believe imagination, as I galloped around my garden waving my magic fairy princess wand.

Todays adults have lost the Magic in their lives, thinking it is to be found in the accumulation of possessions. But that which glitters isn’t always Gold, and it often comes at a price, which often leads to the Big Bad Wolf growling at their doors, as the Fairy-tale ends as the Wicked Witch of ‘Pay back with Interest!’ Casts her Debt spell and holds us in her perpetual Grasp!.

So how can we find that lost Magic? What sort of magic are we each of us searching for?

Each of us are capable of creating magical things in our own lives if we are willing to re-open our eyes .

As adults we have put limits upon ourselves which in this modern-day world of gadgets and electronics, which have robbed  many of us of our ability to think for ourselves. We rely on being told what to eat, what to wear, and where to buy.. as the media of Controlling our Lives also casts its spell via the Advertising Cauldron of Modern Day Media.

We have forgotten to use the Powers of Natures Natural Magic as we no longer listen to the Ebb and Flow of Natures Pulse. We have forgotten to use our Intuitive abilities, we’ve tuned out of the forces of nature, we no longer sit and feel the Energy of a tree, or understand the medicine of herbs, feel the healing offered from the ocean and our waterways, , Instead we pollute the very life giving forces of our planet.

We’ve forgotten the magic of sitting outdoors in Natures elements as we shut ourselves in our boxes with our electronics bombarded with electric light, radio waves, Microwaves, Invisible signals from our mobile phone and TV networks pour through the walls of our boxes constantly.. No wonder our children are looking pasty and ill..We do not see how we are poisoning ourselves with Fast Foods, and additives etc.

We have forgotten to stop and look up into the Magic of a clear starry night as the Moonlight reflects upon the carpet of frost as it glistens in its own magical glitter underfoot, or see the magic in every snow flake, each one unique like ourselves as they fall to the ground.

Many of us are fascinated with the Future, our curiosity leads us to explore Space and the different realms of reality . Somehow we know instinctively that these realms exist and yet many are afraid to voice those seemingly unexplained happenings, dismissing them as fanciful nonsense. How many of us as children said we saw things, only to have an adult tell us to not be silly, as we grew up and our invisible playmates vanished for ever. Those very instinctive abilities which each are born with are zapped out of us, as we are groomed to the adults world of thought.

The Keys to Unlocking those Magical Doors lay not within text books, but they are found within your own ‘Inner-Self’ your own unconscious mind of imaginings and day-dreams.

I once read a quote from a lady who was one of England’s leading Magical Ladies her name Dion Fortune it said.

“ Magic is the art of causing Changes in the Consciousness according to the Will…….”

Once we learn to control our thinking-our Imagination of our Consciousness and our Perceptions about our reality, we then change the entire Universe.

You have heard me use the phrase of Waking Up to ourselves, Nature has all the answers, and we are all of us created from the same atoms, each tree, plant, animal and Mineral shares the same heritage.

When I talk about getting in tune with ourselves, I also mean we need to once again get in tune with Nature. For some it may be taking a walk in the countryside, working in your garden, tending to a pot plant in your home.

Finding the Magic is allowing yourself to become that child again. We need to find the Joy in the simple pleasures of life.

So take a look outside your boxes and let the love of Nature work her magic upon your soul. Rejoice in the sound of Children’s Laughter, enjoy the birdsong, Look up and really see the Miracles of Life in the ever changing sky.

We have forgotten much from our ancestors those wise ancient ones who respected all life in all its forms and appreciated its natural flow as they planted with the cycles of the Moon and watched the heavens.

We have forgotten how to choose, how to decide, as our decisions have all but been made for us in our modern day of advertising media. We have lost much of our common sense, as our own natural senses have been eroded by the modern world.

We turn constantly to find answers in books, films, teachers and gurus, but we forget to look at the very core of the problem.

We need only look within our own Hearts if we wish to find its magic. We need to know the powers we each hold as we change our way of thinking.

When we change the magic in our own lives, then we see it reflected back in our outer-world.

The Magic has always been there..

We just need to alter our way of BEing and allow our Natural Sparkle to shine..

and that’s Magic!

I must be very fortunate Dreamwalker. I see the magic all around me! I see it reflected in ‘things’ in my life as well as in life that swirls around me. This computer has “magic”! A dreamer. Maybe. But I am a Pisces. What else would you expect??

Another great post DW. Thanks for your ‘right on’ thoughts. Changes are rapidly approaching DW….The magic will be returning soon so dust off the fairy wand and pixie dust jar. All the bit of TOPPT is exploding big time and it is looking more real everyday. They have thought of everything. Faith is what we must have now and the magic will follow. It sure wouldn’t hurt to start practicing….VK

I’m sure if enough of us hold onto our own Magic and sprinkle a little star-dust of caring and kindness around our day.. we will soon see the Miracles of Changes start to unfold …
And if we all keep our Faith in Truth, Love and Light to succeed then we can produce that what we wish from waving our Magic Thoughts into the Ether!…

      Have a Magical Day VK…

So perfectly said Sue. Nature has the wonderful ability to keep us grounded and centered but those two things are so easy to lose sight of in the busy world so many of us live in. The idea of regularly connecting with Nature, as you suggest, will not only help US re-center and reconnect with her magic but helps NATURE’S light and energy grow as well. Thank you for this beautiful post and guidance on reawakening.

Many thanks Rick for adding your most welcome thoughts to this post.. If more could just for a few moments stop and re-connect to our Earth Mother for just a little while, and really see the wonders and gifts she gives us, then this world would be a much brighter and peaceful place.. For we would care for our environment and not cast litter in her hedgerows and think about the pollutions we are creating with the very things we buy and throw away…

One only has to look at your own beautiful photography to see the Wonders the Earth has in all her glorious seasons, as you capture her Magic in the eye of your lens ..

Pictures of which I will catch up with shortly this weekend as I have a lazy weekend at home for once.. 🙂 ~Sue

Wow…this is very beautiful and so true!! I am most happy when I am camping, gardening walking on a beach (which I only get to do every few years), walking in a wild natural place, meditating (which I do too seldom), and doing ceremony (which I do too seldom). So many things to do…so many distractions. Why do we resist the activities that bring us so much joy?? Kim

Maybe even if only for a short time, a walk together or just sitting in the silence Kim will bring the bridges in your world a little closer to healing… Once we let go of those material worries we are always richer in our lives for sharing in natures Magic Garden! 🙂

it’s interesting that you should write this today as last night i was writing in my Journal about lost innocence. I writing about the play ground games we used to play and yesterday an article about a women who is not going to buy anything new for her son for a year. He won’t know because he is only 2. You are right technology drowns out the magic.

I think at times Beverly we buy our children far too much anyway….. and then they expect it all the time.. But yes we have lost many of the simple games we used to play, especially in the outdoor activities as children sit far too long in front of the TV or electronic games machines…
I Know from my own childhood how I loved to make boardgames for my sisters and brother to play with… based on the snakes and ladders… I would sit for hours drawing them out… and I loved to tell my siblings made up bed-time stories…

As for it being interesting about writing about lost innocence..I often think that the matrix of life carries a theme and a message around in synchronised similar writings.. I often find that we are guided by the consciousness to create and invent similar things around and about the same times.. always still amazes me how often I find this to be true..

If you go to those who patent a new invention they will also tell you that many new patented inventions are registered around the same time.. So each of us are tapping into that Conscious Stream . 🙂
      Wishing you a beautiful weekend

Great Post Sue , I wonder sometimes if only a few of us posses this ability , to enjoy Nature and the simple things that it has to offer. To feel for those that suffer and animals that need our help. The suffering around us is hard to accept at times , and I sigh 😦 Maybe as you say it takes change in our hearts and thinking.

I am blessed to have met such a person as you Sue.

Awww Sheila….Thank you… we have been friends now a number of years since our WL days and I always love seeing your posts….

We have had to break the ice on our small pond each day this week..

In 2010 in the freezing temp’ we lost alot of our pond fish and many frogs.. so we are trying our best this year to help the frogs who often get trapped beneath the ice..
The snow storm predicted has arrived today and its a blizzard outside just now.. But I do not have to go anywhere until Monday night when I start work again… so snug as a bug at the moment..
Hope you are keeping warm too .. xox Sue

Unfortunately so many as children are not allowed that freedom to be children… I had to grow up fast when I was a child and help look after my younger siblings.. But I would even as a child myself try to keep the magic alive… For I would tell my younger sisters and brother stories and make up games to play… My sister even today says she remembers those times with me, as our Mother was not as comforting as lets say a mother should be..
Childhood experiences affect our memory and have a profound affect upon how we view the adult world..
So My sympathies are with you Becca… You are now creating lots of Magic in your own adult world…
      Blessings

The magic and excitement is still there Sue but running around the garden with your fairy wand has to be done later in the evening, well unless you know different of course? 😉 lol Just kidding…

Now all you need to do is to jump out of bed in the morning (oh but before you do grab your slippers and dressing gown first as this freezing weather could put a dampener on things :() lol Now are you ready? 🙂 Jump up and down and enjoy the moment, just because we are adults doesn’t mean that we cannot feel the magic of youth, hey and pour me a cuppa afterwards to warm me up a little 🙂 lol

Have a wickedly enjoyable rest of evening and a Friday morning sledging and building snowmen if you like? 🙂 Don’t worry I will be over there to help you with that so no problemo 🙂 Have fun Sue 🙂

Yes, those electronic gadgets, I fear, have sapped generations of children away from the curiosity of nature and being/playing outside…simple pleasures of life. It seems to have lost its attraction…magic. Not for me…now I get to see life through a newborn baby girl! Wow…talk about magic!

Indeed, the magic is the happiness we each carry in our souls. We are all charged with keeping guard over our portion. I hope many more learn not to lock it away for safekeeping, but learn it grows only when it is exposed to that of others. It mingles; It shares; it expands; it engulfs. Wonderful post, Sue ❤ xxx

Hi Sue, this is a touching post. So true that the child sees with different eyes and has the imagination to match this. It is no coincidence that one of the most important things we can all do is ‘play.’ To get back to childlike things, things without a purpose, enjoy life, revel in nature and beauty and kindness. Hard to do in a world that often doesn’t value imagination and creativity. How lovely to see Pendantry’s comment above – it is one of my favourite songs!! Love to you Sue xx

It is nearly impossible Sue to recreate the magic of the world we once saw through childish eyes, however the one piece of magic I have found, is the ability to wander off into the bush and just experience the world around, natures pure unadulterated joy, it all comes together moreso if its at night under a chandelier of stars.

Finding the magic in life is a subjective quality, but the starting point is heading out in nature. Walking amongst nature is good, but participating in nature is better. See a child in nature, they won’t just look, they will swim, dig, climb, play. Taking the first steps in the magic of nature opens doors to further adventures. Like in Alice in Wonderland, heading down the rabbit hole can lead to unlimited life changing adventure.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love...
