Healing Moments~ Little Sparrow

This post is especially for Oceanwaves.

A Bird in the HandAs in my post Earth Day Thoughts, oceanwaves enquired about the picture in my slide show of me holding a sparrow. I took that picture along with a series of others from my mobile phone one day in 2010.

A small sparrow that day flew head long into the window where I was working, and I went outside to see what has hit the window at such force. I discovered much to my dismay a small sparrow laying on the ground.. It was out cold, and at first I thought it had broken its neck and was dead.. So lifeless was its small little body as I picked it up..

I held it in my hands for around 5 full minutes as I cupped my hands around its lifeless body.. I sent it Healing, asking the universal energies to revive the little sparrow, Praying that it would be alright..

I felt its move slightly under my hand after at least five minutes,as I could feel a faint heart beat, and removed my cupped hand expecting it to fly away immediately. But to my astonishment it didn’t, it sat there just looking at me, ( probably seeing stars ).. So I was able to take my mobile from my jeans pocket and snap a few pictures in the next five minutes

It sat there in my hand and didn’t seem to want to move, so I gently manoeuvred it to sit upon a small bush.. I had to place its little legs on the branch, and I kept sending healing and kept my hands there for a while as I thought it may well fall off its perch.. But thankfully after another 5 minutes had elapsed it flew off to join its family.

I have wrote a few words here in a Poem I hope you enjoy along with the photo’s

Little Sparrow

Let me hold you as you fall

Little sparrow hear my call

Let me heal your tiny heart

Little Sparrow please don’t depart

Wake up now from slumbered sleep

Let me feel those wings that beat

Let me hear your morning song

Wake up now and fly along

I can feel your tiny heart

Let it heal, let’s make a start

To fly on high with birds on wing

Little Sparrow let me hear you Sing

Hold onto your world top high

Little Sparrow try to fly

I asked for healing as I let you go

As last you fly…..

And my heart does Glow..

Sparrow on its perch

Putting the Sparrow back on the bush

IS worth two in the bush.

Dazed still but ready to fly..

Back in the mist of past times I had stopped for a snack at a wayside cafe and a sparrow flew headlong into the large window knocking itself out. I held it in my hand until it awoke, flew into the tree overhead and sang me a song before going on its merry way. Such synchronicity !

Oh, how precious … I had a similar experience with a chickadee the other day … have been feeding them through the winter for a couple of years now … they were so tame and came to eat from food offered from my hand … this year one was landing on my bare foot and peeked at me with his little shiny eyes … Love you, my friend … always have and always will … cat.

Sue, that’s wonderful. Next time you find a bird like that, dip it’s beak into water for a second, or better yet, tip up the bird’s head and open the beak slightly, Put a couple of drops of water in the open beak, when the throat gag reflex cuts in, the bird will become conscious again and revive quickly.
It will shake it’s head if it is not hurt too badly and after a few minutes it will fly away. You can also balance the bird on your finger without any support if possible, —trying out it’s automatic balancing system and it’s effort to stay balanced will help it revive faster too. Last bird I revived was a huge Pileated woodpecker! There’s a post on it on Incoming Bytes.. “:) Blessings to you ~R

One tiny sparrow with one BIG headache!!! 🙂

    Well done hun! 🙂

When I was a kid I found a sparrow that had been half eaten by a cat and was still alive.

It was ‘way past saving so I killed it as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Needless to say I wept buckets, but no tears could have saved the poor thing…

    Love and hugs!

Cat I hope those tears are now dry in those wonderful eyes of yours.. and We are often taught through our Animal Kingdom the small lessons of compassion and healing.. Although I would like to think my healing boosted this little Sparrows recovery that bit more swiftly. I hope your weekend was a relaxing one my friend ~Sue

Thank Oceanwaves Deb.. LOL as Without Tracey asking about the earlier photo I wouldnt have thought to post them.. 🙂 I think All animals can sense when we are about to help them rather than harm them… For they are Far more sensitive to our energy systems and Aura’s we give off than we Humans will ever be.. 🙂 Hugs back my friend 🙂

This is a lovely story Sue and reminds me of when I did a similar thing,
only that time was a sparrow that had been glanced by a passing van 😦 I took the sparrow home and held it in my hand, much the same as you are doing in these photographs, and after about fifteen to thirty minutes it eventually flew away and how great that feeling was, to have saved it’s life and given it a second chance with life.

Thank you for offering this one and for sharing your own adventure, for without yours and my intervention these sparrows would have most definitely have died. I have saved a number of hedgehogs from the crows and a dove that was attacked by a cat too, and I would do it all over again if need be as our wildlife is precious 🙂 Have a delightfully enjoyable rest of weekend Sue you are a true diamond 🙂 🙂

Oh that is wonderful, only last week DW i was tending to my flowers when I to heard a thump on the window , not far from where I was standing. It was A little Siskin so tiny. She rested there for a while , I though she was a gonna. Was so happy to see her pick herself and fly off into to nearby bush. So glad your little sparrow took the the sky.

This post has healed something that was “dazed” in me,dear Sue! I have been so torn between all the learning tasks I still need to do in developing my writing and building more connections with others very different than myself that I have been feeling stifled with my own writing, sort of dazed. But now I will fly! Bless you, dear sister!

I once saw a picture in a catalogue of a birdcage without bars! Instead, it contained string “bars.” The theory was that small birds would not try to fly through. So I bought it. My tiny finches were settled in the no-bar birdcage, when suddenly we spied one flying through the air. We found a small red one in the pantry. And a yellow one in our bed.

I noticed the catalogue no longer features this model bird cage!

Hi Ronnie, An Aunt of mine kept Canaries and Finches, lovely birds and she looked after them extremely well.. But my heart always wanted to set them free,, But to do so would have meant they wouldn’t have survived for long with other wild birds.. Thank you for adding your thoughts here and stopping by ~Sue

What a wonderful story! I believe the sparrow you saved also sang a song for you 🙂 I saved a baby sparrow 3 months ago but now have to say good-bye to her because I’m leaving this place. Since releasing her a month ago, she has been coming back every day to feed and hang out with me. I will miss her terribly. Such sweet memories she has given me.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
