Home Coming.

She lay upon the bank of grass hands behind her head looking up at the sky. The clouds were fluffy like she remembered when a child as they drifted slowly in front of the pale blue sky.

A bird called out in the distance, she listened again to its call, she recognised it as the call of a Grouse way off to her left. A butterfly, small and brown flew by her as she turned to look at the meadow flowers, knowing them all like old friends.

The Hazelnut Tree was directly in her line of vision as she saw the clusters of nuts still pale not ripe to be picked. Her mind flew back to childhood when her father took her nutting, gathering nuts from the trees sweet and small, and how sheโ€™d spend time cracking their shells opening up their delightful centres to place them upon a small dish sprinkled with salt. The hours of patient harvesting, cracking, gone in a second of delicious sensations upon the taste-buds.

She tasted them again now in her mind as she thought of another hill many years later. The climbing of rocks as she scattered the ashes of memories laying to rest her father in his favourite Valley of walks

The breeze stirred her mind back to look at the clouds which now had become a little thicker in the sky blotting out the Sun for a while… She shuddered and lifted herself up as the tears of her lost childhood washed down her face.

A voice at her side spoke in soft gentle tones whispering within her mind, she listened intently as she looked at the Hazelnut Tree.. The Voice recounted a story of long ago of a journey of souls, a journey where they knew everything had purpose, and everything had reason. She heard the voice tell her of a vow made long, long ago.. She knew then, as she knew now, that her story was only just unfolding.

Held within the threads of her searching her journey started long ago upon a vessel in the ocean of life as she set sail upon her course to weave the creation of her present position. She was almost home. But first she knew a story needed to be told.. One so powerful it set her tingling… She looked up again to the Sky and saw two Hawks circling in the sky above her.. She smiled content.

She lay back upon the grass and put her hands behind her head once again, closed her eyes to remember where it first began…

She was  Almost Home………………….

    Hawks are harbingers, messengers…
Butterflies always bring changes (I always seem to go back to my Native Heart)
But this sounds like a memory.
I like this story or is it a dream? I hope there will be more as you are a great storyteller ๐Ÿ™‚

Reminiscent words that echo strongly in the hearts of yesteryear… You have written a lovely chapter from life in its real meaning, and as those memories become stronger, the wisdom flows and the beauty of existence is allowed to run free.

A very moving and thought provoking addition to your wonderful stories Sue and thank you for sharing this reality with us…

Lovely story…I love those times lying gazing into the sky watching the clouds drift by…it takes me too back to my childhood years…strangely too, in those childhood times it was like I had stepped back from the future time of today’s present to that past time that was then the present also, at least at the time it was occurring…I’m sure you understand what I mean even if nobody else does lol…was like seeing into the future where I saw myself in the past seeing the future….kinda cool…but also kinda misplaced in time Wolfie! Great read…one to relate to and relax into…dreaming…. ๐Ÿ™‚

So beautiful, Sue! It took me back to my childhood when I lay in the shade of a tree in the summer and gazed up at the blue, cloud-streaked sky; days when I watched butterflies flit about the yard. Days I don’t have anymore where I am with my daughter, cooped up in a small duplex. But I can carry these memories in my mind for the “dark” days. You have reminded me that I need to do this.

And thank you for stopping by to add your memories of the Beach Boys to my post. All those old records. I would have kept them, only I have moved so much and have had to downsize. My daughter remembers them well; it’s one of the things she does remember.

Thanks again for this beautiful photograph and story reminiscence. I LOVE coming over here!

Hi Lorrena, memories are sometimes all we have to hold onto.. and they are all we take with us… as we leave this material world behind.. They say we come into this world with nothing and we leave with nothing.. I disagree… We come in love.. and we take with us that love we have built while hear.. to carry on as we expand that ‘Light’ along with our ‘Light’ companions we have met and shared with along the way.. We are forever growing and expanding in the consciousness that created us. Blessings Sweet Friend xox
