This was a Well at the Abbey
Sun setting on the Church above the Town
Well hello once again to all my friends .. I have had a relaxing few days away, exploring the East Coast of one my favourite haunts that of Whitby in North Yorkshire on the edge of the North Sea.
Here I sampled the delights of fresh clean air, along with Yorkshire hospitality, and enjoyed the views sights and smells of this Historic Fishing Town of Whitby.
To add to the experience this time around as I have been a few times to this wonderful town, the swing bridge which spans the river Esk was out of action, due to a broken part, which for a bridge over a hundred yrs old isn’t doing too bad. The awaited part was being custom made in Germany. And the town was effectively cut in half by the river going into the sea.. So the only way across town was either by free bus, which took around 10minutes or a quick 2minute boat ride across the river mouth, we chose the latter and by then end of our stay we had definitely got our sea legs as we hopped on and off the small fishing boats and ferries on wobbly jetties.
I spent time walking along the beaches and exploring the ruins of Whitby Abbey information on its history can be found by clicking these links

I just wanted to share a few photos of the spectacular Ruins more I will put in an album very soon.
Whitby is also famous for Captain Cook.
above you see Captain Cooks Statue and his Museum
Many streets are very narrow and cobbled

Here is an old steam Tram, which takes tourists around the town.
And last but not least its famous for Dracula with Author Bram Stoker. I didn’t see any Vampires though, But the skies did turn a little weird as I sat in the Abbey

I hope you enjoyed your trip with me.
