Poem: Sitting on the Edge of Time.

Sitting On the Edge

Sitting upon the edge of time,

I call your name and pray you’re fine

The Moon her light reflects in sky

As in my loneliness I cry.

I look towards my guiding star

I feel your love, it’s there you are

Your light does enter within my soul

Can you forgive me, I was a fool.

I never meant to hurt you so

I never meant for you to go

I hear your voice a thousand times

It echoes like the tinkling chimes

I hear your laughter, I see your smile

As I sit here awhile.

You pieced my heart, entwined with love

I bleed for you, my Angel dove

All I have to do is fall

And but leave this empty wall.

I see now through the sting of tears

Your lights rush around, to calm my fears

They sooth my tired and tattered mind

As memories of you I once more find

For you are to me the stars and Sea

Where once again, there you will be.

Forever in my heart just you and me.

As I join once more the stars and sea.

Thank you to Robert for the picture, which I penned the poem around.

Holding Hands.

As you know I work with those who have learning difficulties And on a Saturday some like to go to a local Coffee morning gathering.. So off we went meeting other service users there whom we support within our team.

Now I have a soft spot for one lady who I shall call (Kay) she turned 60 this year.  She is a gentle soul who sits by her window much of the day… I often go through her photo albums with her, which contains precious photo’s of bygone years of people who she shared happy times in Supported Day Centres..

One picture in particular is a picture of a Gent, who also had learning difficulties, the same as she. Such is her fondness for this man, We shall call him ( Joe )..She had him put in a frame, which she has kept in her bedroom for all the years I have known her… I had found out years ago that they had special bond with each other many years ago, But due to this Gentleman’s demise in health, he had left the day centre many years ago, loosing touch, not knowing what had happened to him.

Today as we sat drinking our coffee, the doors opened, and another group of support workers not from our division, came into the building, one pushing a wheelchair in which a gentleman sat.

Kay  who sat with us let out a huge cry, and went oooohhhhhh! Holding her heart and stomach. At first I thought she was in pain or she had chocked upon her teacake or coffee.. Until I saw the smile upon her face, she reaching out with hands shaking, and cried out this gentleman’s name, who had entered in the wheel chair..  This was the man who sat in the photo frame, older and frailer but I too recognised him as Joe

His face lit up and his hands reached out shaking in return..  as she called out  to Joe he too recognised Kay. We moved her chair so she could sit next to her long lost friend. She held his hand, asking him if he was alright, and they chatted away merrily. He showing her the array of watches he wore upon his wrists, telling her he now had 15 watches..

We got chatting to the support workers and low and behold Joe only lives a few miles away.. So we are making plans so they can meet again..

Today I so loved my job…. Seeing these two long lost friends who held such love for each other unite once again Holding Hands.

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
