This week I have been very busy, not only with ‘The mess’ of the kitchen but I have been working extra hours at work…
I would just like to tell you how proud I have been of my service users who have learning disabilities this week.. Three of them have sat very patiently with me this week through three very tiring days of sitting with me on one of two interview panel’s, interviewing and asking questions to prospective Support Worker employees.. And to sit still for long believe me can be very difficult for some of these special people.
One lady who came for an interview was obviously so very nervous…
I was so proud when one of my service users who suffers from Down ’s syndrome, reached over and took her shaking hand, and said “Don’t worry, you don’t have to be nervous of us”.. The lady smiled and said thank you And nearly burst into tears..
My heart leapt as the love just shone through my (Sally) not her real name.. Sally still holding the interviewee’s hand said..” I was ever so frightened when I came here yesterday as I hadn’t done this before either. And I hadn’t seen these people before” she said pointing to the others on the panel who had learning difficulties also.. “And they made me feel better yesterday, so I’m going to make you better today”…
Oh if only we could all make each other feel better…..

this is lovely.. i am sorry i don\’t know what you job or service is? but, you do have a special place there. seeing things happen like that would be all inspiring, i used to do volunatry work at a home many moons ago and i should think about it again, have a great day

What a touching tale and brought tears to my eyes,my childrens dad is now one of those very special people who is sadly permently in a rehab centre for people with aquired brain injuries,it takes a special someone to care for extra special people,be proud of yourself,marie xs

Nothing can compare when you get support from a person, who knows that life isn\’t so perfect at all. We should learn from those strong people because they love life although they face with difficulties every day. Thanks for sharing.
