Unite for Peace.

Having just gone past Remembrance Day I wrote this poem about the then Yugoslavian War in the 90’s.. We have since seen the Gulf and the invasion of Iraq. What ever War, Whose ever Battle, Those who are suffering are the innocents that get caught up in it. Tell them ‘Who is the winner’. Explain it to the child who has lost his family or lost her limbs. Explain it to the Mothers who have lost their children,

Explain Why we still feel the need to KILL!?

Everywhere around the world is darkness and despair.

Lord help heads of nations, a better future to prepare.

I cry from the heart, to all of those in power.

Look to your people in their darkest hour.

Leaders, gather together for peace, listen and unite.

Stop this senseless slaughter, end this bitter fight.

What do you gain; tell me who’s the winner?

Who pays the price who’s the greater sinner?

Where is the glory in the torture and the death?

Where is the victory for the homeless and bereft?

Families and their homes are ripped and torn apart.

Broken bodies tortured minds, a mothers broken heart.

War has always been a part of mans lurid past.

Peace only seams to be a myth never meant to last.

Why is there distrust, anger, hate and greed.

Has man progressed, or has he become an ugly breed?

It only needs a spark of faith to kindle and to brighten.

Those embitted souls who deal in death, their reason to enlighten.

Healing hands of friendship held out for our tomorrow.

Show them that the power of love can wipe away our sorrow.

So leaders of the world, lets stop all this oppression.

Only peace and love will guide us through to mans progression.

    Hello Dreamwalker,
I really like your poem, its essence remindes me by the post-war poems after the 1st World War,  a movement called the Poetic revolution, to be so passionately furious at those in power.
The world is definately in dire need for PEACE.
    God Bless, keep it up…

Each of us, carries within us the capacity to change the world in small ways for better or worse. Everything we do and think affects the people in our lives, and their reactions in turn affect others As the effect of a seemingly insignificant word passes from person to person, its impact grows and can become a source of great joy, inspiration, anxiety, or pain. Your thoughts and actions are like stones dropped into still waters, causing ripples to spread and expand as they move outward.. I hope that I can send a few ripples out via the web of life, as we each of us weave the threads together... Welcome to my Sanctuary of Peace and Love... May we each spread our Lights around our World....Sue Dreamwalker
