Connecting Back to our Earth Mother

Spending time in nature allows us to feel at one with other living beings and to find comfort in the nurturing embrace of our Earth Mother. You can’t help but experience a different sense of self while walking in a wood.

So many of us have waited for Spring, as we have endured either the wettest or coldest winter in a long time.. So when at last the Sun peeps out I am one of the first to head for my favourite walks among the trees.. Just having the Sun revitalise us and enrich our Vitamin D supplies needed for healthy bones makes us feel so much better..

My walk looking out over some of Robin Hood Country

My walk looking out over some of Robin Hood Country. I am standing upon a converted ‘Slag heap’ of waste from a local Coal mine which closed in 2003. This land has now been made into a Nature Reserve.

We spend so much time indoors, focused on the busyness of our lives and disconnected from the earth. But much of what we truly need can only be found  in nature alongside trees or by the sound of running water.  There is so much to be seen.. And it was really good to hear the birds in the tree tops chirping away as they too must have been ready to dry out their feathers.. I saw many busy collecting nesting materials as they began to rebuild their nests..

Being in nature connects us to the earth, grounding us as we walk, unhindered by concrete, upon her. Surrounded by other living beings, both bigger and smaller than we are, we remember that human beings are simply one form of life in this vast universe. The standing ones are now starting to sprout new growth from their long sleep as they wake up revealing their blossoms..

Even if you live in a city or find it difficult to travel to a forest or the countryside, there are many ways to reconnect with nature. When you step out of your door each morning, just pause for a minute and close your eyes long enough to let your senses absorb your surroundings. Listen and breathe deeply, until you hear the wind rustling through branches, smell rain on damp grass, see the sparkle of morning dew, or frost. Enjoy the magical Mist. Take in the sights, sounds, and sensations we experience that are part of nature, which can remind us of all the gifts our Earth Mother brings us each day.

Spending time connecting with nature nourishes the soul, reminding us that you we are never truly alone, and renews us by attuning us back to the earth’s natural rhythm of which all nature is a part..

Enjoy Spring!

As we remember we are One with All of Nature

Blessings ~Sue

I also love nature, I think almost every Norwegian does 🙂 I spent my childhood in the forest and on the sea, hugging trees, playing with the wood fairies and looking for elves and gnomes under the bushes. I think that is how my spirituality started, in nature, the connection between the nature without and the imagination within. I find God much easier in nature than in any church or temple. After all, a building is made by men while nature is made by God 🙂 Thank you for your inspiring post! 🙂

I hear you Sue, and I’m able to connect with my garden on such a sunny day as this… Your beautiful photo’s of nature are a reminder to us all that the countryside is within reach , wherever we are… I’ve just come in from work and ….wow, it’s wonderful how much sunshine uplifts everyone, smiles all round and shared comments on how much better we feel. , walking on man made concrete carpets doesn’t compare to mother natures paths, and greenery, though, soul food I call the local woods, where trees are welcoming and give you room to breathe..

There is a sense of freedom when one steps outside the bubble of artificial life and back into the core of reality. The sun certainly makes us jump up and do things, had a really lovely lunch on Tuesday sat by the river with an old friend, just lost in the tranquillity, and now sat catching up on blog posts in the conservatory overlooking my garden and planning what I want to do with it this year a million miles away from the days of nightclub doors and my boys!

Yes Lavender Girl I really did feel rejuvenated.. The Sun certainly restores and revitalisers our energy. Especially after our long wet winter.. And yes its good that so many old unsightly slag heaps have been restored back to Mother Nature.. If she has a helping hand it doesn’t take her long to rebuild that which we have tore down.. 🙂 Have a really good weekend my friend.. xx Sue xox

He taught me about the birds, mushrooms gathering, and I was helping him grow our own Veggies from aged 6.. He taught me to watch the ‘Signs’ in nature too.. the migrating birds.. the Berries on the trees… And they never fail to bring me Peace and Joy.. 🙂 Thank you for your encouraging words Jack..

Lovely uplifting post Sue 🙂 I give thanks everyday right now for the beautiful super-early spring weather we’re experiencing and even more so that it follows what for my part of the world, has been a very short and mild winter 🙂 This morning was foggy when I left for work – it cleared soon after to leave a beautiful sunny day, but I was treated to the sight of a very early morning Full Moon. It was a fascinating sight offered by mother nature, in my book…a huge round totally white disk so sharp in the sky it looked photoshopped!!! The foggy sky completely obscured any surface detail but left a muted-light moon that I have never seen before and it was lovely! Odd to say considering it was simply a softly glowing circle of white in the fog but it felt like a privilege to view it that way. My favourite spring mornings are those when the sky is already blue and the sun up and the Moon is hanging calm and peaceful in the morning spring – great viewing!! xx

Sue, most of our ground is still snow covered what is peeking out is muddy so I can’t get into my field but I have been outdoors spending as much time as I can on our warmer days. It’s good to hear the birds again and I spotted a wooly bear (caterpillar) on the road which I had to save. 🙂 I couldn’t figure out how he survived until a neighbor informed me he had a few take up residence in his apartment over winter. I am looking forward to more nice days where I can run my toes through the grass again and feel the sun beating down on me.

Lois, I so feel for you over there, it seems Winter has been relentless this year.. And I know how we felt to have the Sun shine at last.. We have seen between us around 4 butterflies over the last few days.. So I hope your Little wooly bear caterpillar finds some shelter and enough to eat and keeps warm.. 🙂 We have also seen a number of ladybugs too we didnt spot many last year.. So We hope they will flourish as they eat the aphids :-).. But we have planted some loopins in the allotments this year, as Black fly love to swarm on them.. So we hope they find the flowers a tasty treat rather than our Veggies :-)… xxx

Sue, I think winter is losing hold here. We are expecting a few slightly warmer days and the bitter cold days are becoming fewer and fewer. Today it’s below freezing as we expect tomorrow to be as well, but then we are expectiving 4 days of nice weather.

We are seeing the birds again and today I went out for a few minutes to find several walking around the field looking for food. It made my day.

I hope we get to see more ladybugs and butterflies this year as the last few there have been mostly absent.

I like you idea to control the black flies but not sure I would try it as I’d be afraid of attracting them to my garden. Love to hear how it works for you.

I am pleased to hear Winter is losing its grip.. Here we had I feel a false sense of Spring, Last week very Spring like and warm.. Now the showers have returned and the biting wind.. We could now be in for some winter weather as hail and snow have been forecast to cause showers here and there.. The heating is back up!.. And I will let you know how the Lupins go?.. 🙂 The idea is to attract them but away from the crops.. Its an old gardeners tip.. So we shall see… We were smothered in White fly last year.. The Cabbages and Kale took a beating!.. We have some seeds already germinating in window sills.. And the Shallots are put in.. 🙂 I need to take photos for a blog update..

Yes, we are expecting few days of winter too, but the breaks are getting longer which is good. I took the children out today and told their parents the children would sleep good tonight, but the fresh air has made me sleepy too. 🙂

Monday it was too cold to be outside so I had the little ones help plant a few seeds inside. They were so excited to play in dirty. My granddaughter kept telling me how much she missed dirt. 🙂 We started radishes and the next cold day we will start some of the tomatoes.

Thank you for the tip off my good friend… Its sad those who fail to think for themselves.. I feel sorry for them that they steal others works…
While I have copyright I always think like this… What goes around comes around,, and it will profit them not in the long run… I have had my suspicions of past people who then block you out.. as they hold your works.. 🙂 But if my messages are being read , even if another steals… Then my words were given from the Universe, so are being shared by the Universe.. I need no recognition… to know the Truth of its origins… For in my heart I would know I co-created it… and their heart they would know they stole it.. Nothing is gained by these people who only cheat on themselves..
